For all ps2 users, if u buy the marbles thru moogle random system...

You wont won above rank 5 items..
because SE has programmed the random system for ps2 to generate only
these 2 patterns;

EOEOE
OEOEO

The pattern of winning number is

rank 1:47396 EOOOE
rank 2:1017  OEOO
rank 3:379   OOO
rank 4:44    EE

I am on a PS2. The 30 numbers I had the moogle pick all follow the EOEOE
OEOEO pattern.

My gf is on a computer. There is no pattern to her randomly generated numbers that I could see.

Sloppy, sloppy programming on SE's part for the PS2 people. Geez.

Even though as someone already pointed out, the numbers are generated server-side so your post has no validity, you might want to point out that the E and O in your post refer to even and odd because it's not that obvious. Took me a while.

Anyone care to explain what O and E are supposed to represent? I'm looking at those numbers in the screenshot and don't quite see the pattern you claim.

And as I pointed out in the other thread that was already made about this, it was still completely random odds that your number would be chosen, no matter whether the numbers the moogles gave had a pattern or not. It's not like they gave you a number that was less likely to be chosen, after all. Or are you claiming that somehow 10101 had lower odds than 24242, etc? All this did (if true) is make it to where more people either won or lost together, but the odds of any individual number winning were completely unaffected.

*Edit: Oh, and for the people saying the numbers were generated server-side, so this is all impossible, it's certainly possible it was done that way, but there's not really any particular reason that it had to be server-side. It's not like these numbers are things you have to make sure the player can't influence like with /random, so it would be perfectly reasonable to do it client-side. I don't know if it's true or not, but there certainly seems to be a decent number of people making the claim based on their own experience.

All of FFXI's "random" numbers are generated server side. Ismarc said he believed the formula had something to do with how long it took the request to process in miliseconds with some additional stuff done to it for lots and for /random, so the MOST reasonable assumption is that the randomly generated mog numbers were the same.

I'm one of those that followed my own formula rather than letting the moogle decide anyway.

eugh bias cba lol, you can look at it two ways, individual numbers are uneffected though i dont know how to comment on the variance etc
the numbers are generated over only 1/16th of the sample space

All text you see is generated server-side. I think player /say(ect) text isn't, but any other text like, "jkasdng hit the sand worm for 1" is server-side. That's why there is no FFXI private servers.

About the PS2 thing... You chose to get random numbers. You could have picked OOOOO, OOOO, OOO, whatever. It's not SE's fault that you chose to listen to a moogle. The event is over anyway, you're lucky you actually got something(I didn't).

Why let the moogle choose anyway? If you pick your own numbers you get a 100% chance of getting an exp scroll with your 10 marbles.

Dude, just shut up... people were under the impression that they were getting legitimate random numbers picked for them, not "random" in the sense of an essentially pre-programmed list of numbers that were guaranteed to be losses.

Whether a number is odd or even is irrelevent, if its not the right number :) Systematic odds and evens in your random number selection have not decreased your odds any more than someone without this "pattern" due to how random outcomes works.

Flip a coin six times, its just as likely to land HTHTHT as it is HHTHTT.

thats not STRICTLY true, it is true in a simple case but not in a larger general case :P but since youre dealing with 100000 combinations i wouldnt worry about it too much
