need help farming *****Follow

#1 Jul 18 2008 at 10:09 PM Rating: Good
Im currently lvl 40 cooking and want to make meat kabobs for a melee job im trying to lvl. anyways im having trouble getting the cockatrice meat, since so many high levels farm the *****. I farm them in meriphaut mountains but can only take 1 or 2 ***** at my lvl before I need a rest. I do sub thf 15 for higher drop rate, but is there any other way to get **** meat without paying for it? or should just try at different hours? thanks

The best way to farm ***** is as Thf or with /thf. You start off sneaking up behind the **** and sneak attack it, sneak attack makes sure you end up hitting the **** from behind as hard as you can.

After that just start whacking the ****. Be careful though, the more you whack the **** the more likely to hit you with one of its nasty attacks. The last thing you want while you're face to face with a big **** is to end up petrified, poisoned, hammered or blasted.....

I rated you up to counter the inevitable rate downs you're gonna get.

Like PlanckZero said, Cockatrice use a lot of status moves, including silence, so as a level 31 WHM you might run into difficulty. Offhand I think that the ones in Meriphataud Mountains are the lowest level, so I'd recommend finding a duo partner to kill the mobs with. Or a lot of echo drops.

Yeah, I got the joke. But on the off chance the person is actually looking for information, I wanted to provide it. If they weren't, then I'll feel better about laughing the whole time I read their post.

Another thing to note, if you can't sub thf you should sub nin.

Shadows will help mitigate damage and help you survive and reduce any downtime resting... plus you can beat on ***** with both hands.

THF/ or /THF will definitely help you get more **** meat. If you go RNG/THF or THF/RNG, it's especially helpful since you can see ***** a mile away, and if THF is high enough, you can run to grab those ***** and turn them red before they turn purple and there's nothing else you can do at that point.

Did you get your **** charm?

It's quite difficult to kill ***** anyway, I'd recommend using the **** charm to ensure maximum damage and avoid missing a lot, which can really slow you down.

An angry **** can hit hard, so bring good armor; if you're a WHM, I'd recommend waiting for your AF hat.

Remember, ***** can also petrify you, so be sure to be ready to turn around if it gets ready to make its move. If you don't think you can turn around in time, see suggestion above.

Remember, have fun and stay safe; there's enough ***** for everybody, so be sure to share.

Your trouble at the moment is that more experienced players can finish off a **** faster than you so naturally you're going to have to take what they leave if they're around. Not only that, but there's a whole range of ***** that are simply too hard for you. White mage can be an excellent job for handling ***** but you'll need to gain experience first. At the moment you're doing all you can and your desire to go out there and get ***** rather than paying for it is admirable.

Farming **** meat is quite easy, and with some patience its quite enjoyable.

Head to your local bar Laberynth of onzozo, and start hitting on the *****. Try not to hit on too many at once, the have got some nasty moves, and could quicky overwhelm you.

Pertrification as some people have mentioned can be avoided by turning your back on them, but i wouldnt do it for too long, as ***** hit hard, and leaving youself unprotected can be quite dangerous.

Use your NPC to help you, they can provide invaluble support, distracting the **** for a while so you can sneak up behind it, or just providing you with cures if you get any diseases. Some of those can be pretty nasty, and can seriously damage your health if they arent removed quickly.

Just take it slow, and gently to start with. The big ***** can take some punishment. After you have been doing it for a while, you can start to speed up, and you might not take as much damage after you get into the swing of things. Its all about technique.

I tend to farm in Sauromugue Champaign but because there can be up to 4 ppl farming at the same time.

So I use thf/rng to help me farm more efficiently and it dose work well.
But farming the meat is difficult, and would be best at 50+ to do it with easse.

Happen to say that, there about 10k on Remora for a stack, so just farm some wild onions and sell them to buy the meat.

Doing it this way might be faster and less time consuming.

Just keep an eye out in the zone. Multiple farmers makes it a little harder to get your hands on the ***** if there are a ton of people after them.

Nice info in thread but it didn't dispel my fear of the " ***** " in Meriphataud mountains. I would like to farm instead of buying . Can 50RM/25THF handle them ? I've never seen petrification in this game but i always feared it.

You could handle the ones in Meriphtuad well enough, and to avoid petrification from them, just turn your back(but be careful! these are ***** we're dealing with.)

Assuming that you have enough experience to beat the *****, I recommend taking your time. Beating ***** too quickly will just dull the experience; it will start to feel like a chore. Slow things down a bit and take in the scenery. I'd also recommend not staying in one place, explore your zone.
