1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

I played on and off for about six years. My highest level character was a level 75 White Mage.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in Mt. Pleasant, TX at the moment. I would be will to travel a couple hours to attend an "event".

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would like them to be?

I would prefer events to be indoors, during the summer. A FFXI weekend would be nice.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I did not attend Fan Festival 2008, I was not able to procure a ticket.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Wet Cosplay is always fun to see. Drinking contests. Pin the tail on the moogle. Moogle pinata? Lots of creative merchandise. Mithra sky-pole dancer (a good way to appeal to male audiences). Galka sumo wrestling. Taru football? (Does anyone play football?) Some sort of laser-tag game where everyone changes their job to RNG (and maybe support jobs?) and fights in a competition.

Please (and thank you) notify me by email.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
2 years
75 WHM

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
Texas
Yes, I have attended the last 2 Fan Festivals, out of state

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would like them to be?
I would prefer the events be held either before October or after December, so close to the holidays is very difficult
At least 2 days to make it worth the travel expense

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I did and I have to say this festival was much better than 2007. I really enjoyed the shorter wait times and the reception and luncheon were a very nice touch. However, I was disappointed by the smaller crowd, since many of my friends were unable to get tickets.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
I know a lot of people were really looking forward to the Tarutaru marathon again this year, along with the carnival games and were disappointed that there weren't any this year. Also the live quest was really fun and gave us a chance to meet other players, but the Tarut card trading was not the same type of event.

Please notify me by email.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

Continuously since March (I think) the year of the NA release. I honestly don't know how many years that is anymore since I've forgotten the year it was released. Smiley: blush Highest job 75 Whitemage & Bard, in that order.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

Chicago-area in Illinois. Willing - yes. Financially capable - not at this time. Tri-state area is probably the most I could do.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Summer I feel is always best, increased the ability to drive to them (saving money) if they are in nearby states.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

No. I think so many events are held on the coasts that being in the middle states we're kinda "forgotten" by SE. I didn't follow the event or read any coverage because of that impression.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Honestly, unless they are going to be nearer to my area, I don't care what kind of content they have, because I'll likely never attend one.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
I've been playing since christmas of 2004, a few months after NA PC release. My highest level job is 75THF.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I like in New York, more specifically long island. I'd be willing to travel out of state as long as the live event isn't too far. (And provided that the event doesn't take place during a test in a class or a midterm or something.)

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Spring or Summer would probably be best. 2-3 days in total length would also be great. (Friday-Saturday-Sunday or Saturday-Sunday przu)

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
Nope, it was waaaay over thar on the other coast. I thought it looked pretty cool and it would awesome to go to.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Actual information on how to kill Absolute Virtue/Pandy Warden. Not that crappy "lolhint" stuff we've been getting.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

3 years, 11 months. Corsair 75.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in Fulton, Missouri. I would be willing to travel out of state, if not for work.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

1-2 days over the summer sound good to me.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

No, I did not attend. The announcements made were a lot less ground-shaking than the previous year. The in-game item given out to attendees bothers me. I think its unfortunate that, again, people are given in-game items for spending real-life money.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

I would love for more questions to be answered and to learn more 'hidden effects' of items.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

I have been playing since NA PC Release. However, I deleted my first character because it was distracting me from Graduation College. After graduation, I started my current character.

I have 5 jobs at 75 right now. They are Ranger, Warrior, Thief, Monk, and Samurai.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in the Dayton, Ohio Area. I would be willing to go out of state, so long as it was a Car Drive that could be done in less than 24 hours.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

I would like them to be either in the Spring or Fall. I think that they should be 2 days, but not so much content that requires 2 days. This would allow those who are unable to attend one day to still make the second.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

No, I did not. Since it was in California, I was unable to go. From what everyone was posting, it seemed like a really good time.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

I have never been to a live event, so I would be happy with simply meeting some of the Devs and hearing their thoughts on things.

Edit: I would prefer contact via email.

Since a month after NA release. I have 3 75 jobs, white mage, ninja and samurai.

Montana, and depending on where the event was. I wouldn't travel more than 14~ hours.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Summer, 3 to 5 days, depending on the amount of content.

I didn't attend. I'm kind of sad at the information that was released at fan festival.

I've been playing since 1 day after the NA release (had a test/project on release day), when I go to gamestop I found out their shipment was late and ended up playing a display game for 3hrs while waiting for the UPS guy to show up XD. Highest level jobs are 75 SAM(#1) PLD(#2) and DRK(#3). Took me almost 3yrs to reach 75 the first time ;-; Hopefully MNK/BLU will be up there soon too ^^

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Shoe thrown at dev team over mythic weapon aftermath/cost (jking! or am I?)

Really I'd like to see more live/unscripted fanbase <-> dev team Q&A. I like the interviews done by premium sites, but I always feel they are too reserved about asking about certain topics (PW/AV/kings/mythics/etc- mostly lack of followup), and instead there is allot of fluff to insure a smoother interview. Player vs NPC battles like the fights vs Serpant Generals are always neat too (I'd like this sort of thing availible in game afterwards though :/).

I've been playing for four and a half years, highest job is 75 warrior.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in upstate New York. I'd be willing to travel, as long as it wasn't too far and I had the money to do so.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

I would prefer them to be in the early autumn, as that's my favorite time of year. I'd like them to be about 2-3 days long.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

Since the NA PS2 release...so if my math is correct that is over 5 years.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in Texas, and yes I am.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Spring or summer ideally, however, I think it is most important to schedule FanFests just before large updates or expansion releases. As far as length, a weekend long event would be best.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

Unfortunately no. I think it was a lot of fun from the stories that I heard and read about. As far as being able to meet and hang out with FFXI players and SE staff, it seemed amazing; however, as far as information goes, it wasn't as good as in previous years.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

From the sounds of it, the open bar night was a huge hit. I think that is a very unique and great opportunity to simply just have the chance to socialize with everyone. I would definitely like that to make an appearance again!

The contests are always great too. The staples of the art, craft, and cosplay contests should definitely continue. I would suggest though adding in some form of in-game event. Something like a dungeon or BC time trail would be fun.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy music and would definitely like to see some type of concert. Star Onions, The Black Mages, or something similar would be a lot of fun.

The Dev panel is also a great event as well and can easily be a huge highlight. This year though, I felt there was too little interaction with the players. Pre-selected Q&A seemed rather stale. I would suggest a mix of pre-selected Q&A as well as being able to take questions live from the crowd or even from remote players that view the event live through IRC and/or LiveBlogs as has been the recent trend.

Edit: Forgot about contact thing. Please contact me by email. Thanks! ^^

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

I've played since the NA Launch in October 2003. I have RDM DRG and BST at 75

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live in Florida and would travel out of state... so long as it isn't too far i.e. Cali

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Midsummer is usually good... a weekend (3 day) event is not to long yet not too short.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I didn't attend, though I thought it was lacking compared to the other few... Very limited information on new projects for XI and few guest.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

More Art and Costume events... MAybe something like Ballista Royal would be nice to.

I live in Baltimore, MD. I'd travel out of state if it was within reasonable driving distance (3-4 hours, tops).

Pikko wrote:

I think they should have more than one, at different times of the year. Spring/Summer/Fall are fine, preferably Spring, any time where inclement weather wouldn't be an issue (Winter means snow and snow means nasty roads). 3 day event would be perfect (Friday to Sunday)

Pikko wrote:
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I really wanted to but I can't travel all the way to the west cost for the event. If it was on the east coast, within driving distance (DC, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, -maybe- New York/New Jersey), I'd want to go. If they had a fanfest in or around the Baltimore Area, I'd have those tickets in my hand the second they went on sale!

Pikko wrote:
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

I'm not sure exactly what content is currently at fanfests, having never been able to fly out to the west coast for one, but I like the ability to try out new things (I heard that this year, people got to try out MMM early). I also wouldn't mind access to "debug" characters where you can play around with gear like relics/mythics and where you can turn on invincible and solo HNMs for fun.

I like the Q&A but I also notice that the questions are usually asked by the community sites (Alla, etc) and you don't really see any questions by the players. I suspect this is probably because they probably have an easier time dealing with "press" than with your average player who is going to yell and scream at them, but it'd still be nice if they answered a handful of player questions openly.

I definitely like the cosplay contests and the free ingame stuff; another reason it frustrates me that I can't go, there's a lot I know I'm missing out on.

On and off since Christmas of NA PC release. 2003? That sounds about right. 75 WHM is my highest class.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

Los Angeles, CA. I prefer the events centered right here. = )

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Summer seems best, as many are on vacation that time anyway. I think two days would be the best idea.

I did, it was my first Fan Fest and I was pleased.

I've been playing since the summer of 2005, my highest job is 75 SAM.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

Washington, and I would be willing to travel mostly anywhere on the east and west coast.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Preferably during the summer, when school isn't an issue. Duration should be around 2-4 days, so people who traveled far can stay for more than a day, but RL obligations don't prevent too many people from coming.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

No, I really would have liked to though.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
Since NA PS2 release. 75 RDM is only 75.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
Michigan. Yes, but not to the other side of the country. Well, if someone else paid for it, but I just can't afford the travel price.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Time of year doesn't really matter, though summer is easiest for most people, since they don't have school. 3 days would be good. One of the best conventions I have been to was 5 days, but the actual talks/demos/whatever was 3 days in the middle. The first and last day were for socializing and doing other things. If it was fanfest, the last day would have had MMM available or something like that.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
Nope, couldn't afford to get to the other end of the country when I got a wife and son. The event looks like a lot of fun, but they need to do something on the East Coast. I know their HQ is west coast, but it doesn't have to be at HQ.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
For the most part, it seems really good. I'd like to see more "unofficial" Q/A time. Like when it was mentioned original AV was a 12-18 hour fight. This was not found out during Q/A, it was found out over dinner.

Please let us know whether you wish to be notified via Allakhazam.com PM or email.

I prefer for live events to be held during july or late december, so far most of the fanfests have been held before or during the week of my finals. I would like them to last 2-3 days.

I did not attend. While the information presented was lacking, I bet it was fun to participate in other events.

I would like to see ballista matches, maybe hints for some in in-game secrets.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

Highest jobs are BLM, BRD and DRG at 75. Been playing since August 2004 if I remember right.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

Nashua, NH. And I'd love to go to events but of course, it depends on how far away and if I have vacation time to use.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Spring and early summer is good. If I'm going to cosplay, I've got to be comfortable. Hot weather and heavy costumes do not mix well.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

No, I didn't. Vacations were all used up already when I heard about it. I made it a point to read interviews when I found them though.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Anything! It's all new to me. Just being able to meet with other people who share the same interests is cool. But I guess being able to test out new content in game, sort of a sneak peak would be fun.

Guess that's all I can say really. Contact by e-mail is fine since I never check my PMs since I never get any.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

I've been playing since January '05 with my longest break from them game being a month long hiatus while I moved and switched internet providers. My highest job and greatest passion is DRK75, but I'm currently working on both PUP and PLD.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live right outside of Des Moines, Iowa. I don't mind traveling out of state for things; I travel to Chicago, IL frequently for plays, concerts, and other events. I went to the Rosemont Theater near Chicago for the Distant Worlds concert earlier this year and had a blast.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Time of year wouldn't been that much of an issue with me. I'm not limited to travel by school, but I suppose I'd prefer something in either Autumn or Spring; the weather tends to be nicer during those times, not too hot, not too cold.

A full weekend sounds like it would be best. Maybe start with a welcoming event on Friday night and wrap up the festivities Sunday afternoon.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I did not attend the '08 Fan Fest; while I don't mind traveling out of state, California is a long way for me to go, especially for a single day event. The cost of plane tickets + hotel room would have been too high to justify a single day event.

From what I've heard from people that attended the event, and from info found on the premier sites, it sounded like it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed reading the blogs and live updates that attendees kept as the event progressed. One thing that I heard was the the venue was small and there weren't as many attendees as there were in previous years.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Concerts and live music of some sort is always a bonus. I'd also like to see the venues to be bigger and have more tickets available; large gatherings are always more fun than smaller groups, as long as the events are coordinated properly.

Allowing players to preview and play special events or special battles available only at the fan fest is fun. The Battle of the Roses sounded like it would have been fun to try out. One thing that I've heard is that in these special events you can only play as pre-selected characters, usually as one of the starter jobs and only wearing that job's Artifact gear. If there's a way that attendees could do these events with their own characters it would add another level of interactivity, since they could do these events with gear, macro, and jobs that they already are familiar with.

As always, keep the festival in-game items coming!

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
1 year lvl 42 whm

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
Central Florida. If the event is under 100 miles away.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Spring time would be nice ... about 3 to 5 days

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
No I was unable to attend due to work. From what I have read I really wish I could have gotten off to attend.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
To be honest I don't think I would attend unless the events were like I said with in 100 miles from where I live. So if indeed there were to be an event that close I would just be intrested in meeting the staff and other players from the same server as I.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

On and off since NA PC launch. I have 5 level 75 jobs; Dragoon, Paladin, Thief, Bard and Redmage. Dancer and Ninja were the next two in line, but I have since started a new character because I needed something fresh to do.

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

I live near Montreal, in Quebec, Canada. I would travel to attend live events, granted I knew ahead of time for scheduling with my work.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

Summer preferably. 2 or 3 days is good.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I wasn't there. I do follow the blogs very carefully on the days of festivals, though.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Sneak peaks of the next MMO? :D
Wishful thinking aside, and fun contest that can be enjoyed by all is great, but I really like the idea of the special BCNMs where players get to fight popular NPCs.
With all the cool new heroes from campaign, maybe letting us play high level beastmans against the Campaign Heroes would be pretty cool, ahah.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?

On and off since the NA PC release. I just recently restarted and my new highest is currently 42whm

2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?

St. Louis, MO area...I would be willing to travel to live events if they were within a reasonable driving distance, but that won't happen because SE doesn't do live events in the Midwest. Any further away is just too pricey to justify for me.

3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would like them to be?

Probably late Spring or Early Fall. Summer is too hot and Winter is too cold with nasty driving conditions for travel at times. Over the duration of a weekend is a good length I suppose.

4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.

I did not attend. I think the general consensus is that if you went you enjoyed it, and if you didn't go you thought it was pretty meh. The activities and atmosphere AT the events have the ability to influence the opinion of attendees. However, the only thing to really wow the people who didn't attend is game content revelations and developer discussions about the game, and as far as I'm concerned, those 2 things seemed like they were the worst they've ever been this year. It seemed like they didn't reveal anything we didn't already see coming - so it was pretty boring from an outsider's perspective.

5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?

Well, considering I probably won't be going to any due to location, the only thing I can really look forward to are the things I mentioned in question 4. Surprising content revelations and developer Q & A's that seem like they are worth the time to listen to. This years Q & A was AWEFUL. I'm just kinda tired of hearing the same old PR responses to questions that gloss over the issues. If you listen to this year's Q & A, there are a number of questions that don't even get answered...the developers just ramble and redirect the topic, and then they go on to the next question (its almost like a presidential debate - all talk...very little content).

contact via email is fine.
