I have been playing for about 3 years. My highest jobs are 75 warrior and red mage.

I live in Pennsylvania, and if the opportunity came I would travel for events.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Summer would be a good time since that's when most vacation is. 3 days would prolly be long enough.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I didn't attend, but I think the Fan Festivals are a cool idea. Getting to see a bunch of content and other things from the game is awesome.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
More kinds of PvP competition.

I have been playing FFXI since the North American release for the PC. My highest level jobs are 75 RDM, BLM, BLU, and BST.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I live in New Hampshire and am willing to travel out of state to attend live events. However, I probably would only consider traveling to neighboring states such as Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and maybe Connecticut.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
I would like the events to be held in the summer months (May through August). A one day event is fine.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I did not attend the Fan Festival because it was simply too far away. The forefront of the event seemed very exciting, but overall, the resulting information seemed a bit lackluster. However, I'm sure actually being there to experience things would be quite different and more engaging.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
I feel that question and answer sessions are important to consider as there are many questions which are left un-asked each event. I understand the desire to leave some content for the players to determine, but there are certain things which are nearly impossible to understand completely.
Also, maybe some group-based Conflict related activities for people to do at their leisure could be fun, in addition to the group-based Player versus Enemy that are typically featured.

I been here since Pc release. Loved every moment of it, even when the bad times came, I.E. RMT influx of prices... i seen many friends leave, and seen many come back. But I am here until servers shut down. Highest is 75 RDM, with WAR and SMN soon to follow.

i would like to see more things like the heroine fight, and maybe open things like that to players who cannot make it in RL. Like have a live event in game and out of game so everyone can be apart of it. Also, lets make some of these items from years ago available to the rest of us players now.

From the sounds of the events, I like alot of what SE does. I think more time with the panels would be nice. Maybe a GM to show how they do their job, so the FFXI community can see the methods GMs use to fix problems/ help players.
Also a neat idea would be reverse campaign, the players take control of the beastmen in the event and try to take over the area!

I've been playing since the PS2 release (2004 Spring), highest job is Monk and Thief both at 75

The winter would be a great time of year for me because to have something to look forward to during the 'bleak' months of January to Spring would be nice.

No, didn't attend, but the event seems fun. It would be nice to discuss/listen to interviews with the developers on upcoming 'morsels' they would provide about the game. To have them in touch with the fanbase is always a good thing.

Q and A, tidbits from upcoming patches/job adjustments. Those are the most interesting items in my humble opinion.

I've been playing since NA release, and first job to 75 was THF.

I live in South Carolina, and am quite willing to go out of state for live events.

I'm game for any time of the year, though prob prefer late winter if I had to pick. I also prefer 2-3 day events over the weekend time. If Im gonna drive 3-6 hours to get to somewhere, I want it to be worth my time invested.

I did not attend Fan Fest '08, and I think thats probably for the best. Overall, Ive heard good things about prior fan fest's, but not so much for this one. It seemed too short, with not alot of content. The developer's panel was mostly unimpressive, MMM was buggy, and... I think if I had paid money to enter, and to catch a plane to the west coast, Id have been upset.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Costume contests and art contests are always enjoyable. Live music is a plus. In-game related events, even if its not a part of the game proper. The taru footraces were a blast, so I hear. Maybe an event where the attendees get to play as an 'monster' against the allied forces. Or set up a PvP where players get to play Jourmy vs Tiamet vs Bahamut... Work out a balanced/pre-arranged ballista match.
Or set up some joke events... Something with a creative solution. Im envisioning 64 elvaan WAR/SAM against a Darklord with 3hps left, and their ACC set to 0%. Scattered about are 100s of treasure chests, each with an item inside that has "Enchantment: Dia 0/10 charges" until they finally find one with 1/10 charges.
Or a group of Taru BLM/WHM who drank the super-soldier potion. They now have perma-manafont/chainspell, access to all AM2 spells, the best mage armor in the game, a full 300%tp, and head out to fight the (unbeknownst to them "magic-imune") boss-monster. Of course, they all forgot to bring along any weapons...
Maybe the mithra could have something involving Goobbue-sized tarutaru babies that aggro anytime the mithra turns her back (tail) on them...
All in all, just something in game, utterly ridiculous, and fun.

I'm game for any time of the year, though prob prefer late winter if I had to pick. I also prefer 2-3 day events over the weekend time. If Im gonna drive 3-6 hours to get to somewhere, I want it to be worth my time invested.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I did not attend Fan Fest '08, and I think thats probably for the best. Overall, Ive heard good things about prior fan fest's, but not so much for this one. It seemed too short, with not alot of content. The developer's panel was mostly unimpressive, MMM was buggy, and... I think if I had paid money to enter, and to catch a plane to the west coast, Id have been upset.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Costume contests and art contests are always enjoyable. Live music is a plus. In-game related events, even if its not a part of the game proper. The taru footraces were a blast, so I hear. Maybe an event where the attendees get to play as an 'monster' against the allied forces. Or set up a PvP where players get to play Jourmy vs Tiamet vs Bahamut... Work out a balanced/pre-arranged ballista match.
Or set up some joke events... Something with a creative solution. Im envisioning 64 elvaan WAR/SAM against a Darklord with 3hps left, and their ACC set to 0%. Scattered about are 100s of treasure chests, each with an item inside that has "Enchantment: Dia 0/10 charges" until they finally find one with 1/10 charges.
Or a group of Taru BLM/WHM who drank the super-soldier potion. They now have perma-manafont/chainspell, access to all AM2 spells, the best mage armor in the game, a full 300%tp, and head out to fight the (unbeknownst to them "magic-imune") boss-monster. Of course, they all forgot to bring along any weapons...
Maybe the mithra could have something involving Goobbue-sized tarutaru babies that aggro anytime the mithra turns her back (tail) on them...
All in all, just something in game, utterly ridiculous, and fun.

1. I've been playing since the launch of the Chains of Promathia expansion in the US, highest jobs are 75BLM 75RDM, sadly both attained late '08 XD
2. I live in Florida in the US, I am quite unable to attend out of state events cause of my daily life in real life.
3. Hold it during the summer months, you'll be sure to gather more of a crowd. Make it like a week long at least.
4. No I did not, it wasn't close to me so I didn't get a chance to attend it. I've not a clue to what happened in the Fan Fest so i can't really say.
5. Hold like a private server Ballista match with premade characters of each class each using their own Relic or Artifact armor for fairness.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
A: On this character about 9-10 months(75 SCH). On a previous character since 2005 (75 NIN, RDM, BLM, SMN).
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
A: Los Angeles. As to traveling it depends a lot on my work load but if I'm not too busy sure.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
A: Summer or Winter are usually slower times for me thus more possible for me to attend. I'd say on average 2-3 days would be good.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
A: Nope, sold out before I knew the dates for it. I like the way its setup and how SE keeps somethings secret to reveal them to the players at the event.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
A: I liked the Boss type battles that you'd do with random people and/or friends at the event. Also I'd love a lot more in-game merchandise. I like hoodies and would love to be able to get/buy a Black Cloak or Vermillion Cloak that I could actually wear or other clothes from the game.

1. I started playing with the NA beta for the PS2 and have been playing off and on since. Highest level job is 72 WHM.
2. I live in Lincoln Nebraska, and I would be willing to travel depending on where. The coasts would be tough, but I have vacation time this year so who knows
3. Summer is good for live events, I have college classes otherwise.

I have owned a copy of the game since the PS2 release in the US.
(I didn't have a PC good enough at the time.)
White mage 75 (no other jobs are anywhere near being level 75)

NY state, yes. Tho, I would like to see an event somewhere near the East coast as it seems SE is only concerned with Cali as a location.

Summer would likely be best. 3-5 days would be nice. More advanced notice would also be helpful, in ensuring we can get the time off from work or other obligations. And to secure hotel/travel arrangements.

I decided not to even try to go. Because of short notice, lack of a worthwhile event time frame, inconvenient timing, and lack of funds.
However from what I heard and read many people were disappointed and it sounded almost like a company picnic, instead of an 'Event'. But, perhaps my impression is wrong. I welcome the chance to see the real thing.

I would like to see less free in game items for real world money. And would rather see some kind of player reward, for having been a paying member/player for years. While the adventurers program was cute, it's nearly useless with the addition of sync. Also I like the costume contest, and would like to see more for art & created items contests. Maybe even a Moogle pocketbook or backpack for the adventurer on the go? "Kupo!" I would love to also meet the Dev team, but feel the long distance to the other coast may be part of the problem.

I've been playing since the PS2 US launch date. So many wonderful people met and now FFXI is almost a part of my daily life with my RP LS and friends on it. My highest was a Hume Summoner Lv60-ish before I restarted from scratch... Now a 42 Mithra Scholar.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
While I DO live in the west coast area (Washington state) traveling out of state is an extreme luxury I can barely afford. But yes, it would be nice to attend.

Summer/Spring definitely. About 3-4 days, 1 week tops for a duration. Sad thing about these type of events is they have to end. But when you've got real life responsibilities there's nary a thing you can do...
