I started shortly before Easter 2004 on the PS2. My highest job currently is Black Mage @ 70

I live in the Detroit, Michigan area. I would be willing to travel out of state to attend live events if they were closer. Plane tickets are well outside my budget.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Summer is perfect for me. 2 days is generally best for an event with this much focus on one thing. Anime/game conventions can get away with 3-4 days due to the sheer volume of content.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I did not attend. It felt a little bit like reheated VanaFest leftovers. I was excited going into the weekend of Fan Festival, only to be partly disappointed in the amount of new information received.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
-The Live Quest for starters. I was disappointed to hear they dropped it.
-A wider variety of panels. Anime cons are notorious for having a plethora of panels to attend. Maybe let a few of the big endgame sites have a panel or 2 to discuss endgame content, like a panel dedicated to Salvage. Live demonstrations in these panels would be awesome (FFXI on a Projector IS cool to look at.)
-Keep the costume and art contests.
-Dev. Team Q&A was lacking. More questions answered would be appreciated as opposed to having to read them on places like the "Creators Blog Z."
-Ballista and Brenner tournaments. It might not appeal to everybody, but it'll be something to do @ the event.
-Keep the Special BC fights.
-New content demonstrations. Having MMM available to play was a boon.

1. How long have you been playing FINAL FANTASY XI and what is your highest level job?
Since 2004, can't remember exactly when that year, just remember it was the year before I graduated college (class of '05). I have 8 75 jobs: WAR, WHM, RDM, PLD, NIN, COR, SCH, and BRD.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I live in Pennsylvania. I'm willing to travel outside of PA, and even a good ways away, but California is just too far to be economical. The location of this year's fan festival, for example, is 2622 miles away from me (according to MapQuest), so it would be nice to see something maybe on the East coast.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?

1. I have been playing Final Fantasy for about 3 years. I started the first day the game opened up to playstation 2 .
2. I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I would happily travel to an east coast location for an event. There will be no plane trips for me to the west coast.
3. I would prefer events to be held one or two days in September.
4. I didn't attend Fan Fest because it was on the west coast. It looked like an exciting event. I wish I could have played those demos.
5. I would like to see the Devs beat absolute virtue and pandemonium warden. I also want to see a "test your might" area included into FFXI. Will be good to see how DD compare in a controlled test.

Been playing since COP launch and my highest jobs are 75 Sam and Drg.

Live in FL currently, plan on moving to NC or VA soon and yep, more than willing

Summer months seem to be perfect for events IMO. 2-3 days, preferably weekend, seem to bring out best in results from what I seen, weekdays are usually hectic

Unfortunatly since I am on the east coast I could not. I had friends who have attended for the last few years that always comment on how great it is, and from transcripts I read it seems pretty fun, but the last thing I can do is travel from one coast to another. 6 hours driving distance is workable if its over a weekend, but a single day and I'd have to fly in this economy however is not.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Content so far seems pretty good, but what about a "Mini-ballista tournament? I never hear of those things at fanfest. In other words, devs let you whip a custom character to your choosing capped at 75 with all merits at your disposal and whatever item combination of your choosing. Should be... interesting, assuming it can be conveniently done.

I joined around NA Release, the good 'ole days! My highest Job is SAM (Though I have other 75's.), and is what I spend the majority of my time on.

I don't really like to go to event in winter. Spring, summer, fall is much preferred. It is always nice when an event lasts longer than a day for those who travel just to go to that event.

Events would be best held during the Summer months. A duration of 3 days (Friday to Sunday most likely best) or an entire week would be a nice amount of time for the event.

No, I didn't attend Fanfest 2008. I didn't because of the location. Most likely would not attend an event unless it were to be located in Toronto, though.

I like the current content that's in the events. In addition, a mini Mog Bonanza-ish event would be nice to see during these events, held only for attendees. Not prizes the size of the actual Mog Bonanza, but smaller rewards for winning.

I have been playing FFXI for just over 2 years now. My highest job/s --> 75 BLM DNC SAM.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I live in Bay City, Michigan. Yes I would absolutely be willing to travel to an event such as Fan Fest.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Around the holidays it is kinda hard on the pockets so a spring/summer event would be nice. Not to mention more activities that can be done outside.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I wish. I'd have to clear it with the wife first and then I would need to be able to get a ticket ; ; I did however read everything I could find on the Fan Fest. (lil disappointed there isn't more but still happy there's something)

BIGGER ADVERTISEMENT OF UPCOMMING EVENTS!!! I did't even see it until it was sold out. Which leads to Larger attendance. And that could possibly lead to a summer event held outdoors. Since I have never been able to attend an event I don't know how everything is set up. Maybe a world set up so that all attendants can log in to that world with their char. and play/pt with the others they are sitting right next to.

1. Since the 360 Beta.
2. California, and it depends on how close the other state is.
3. Summer or closer to the end of the year seems nice, 2-3 days if I was coming in from out of state.
4. Yeah, it was fun, open bar was awesome etc etc, could have done with more events though.
5. Honestly I don't know, I had heard the live quest and taru races were fun though so I'd like to see those.

I've been playing FFXI since May of 2004, and across 3 characters have had a 75 Bard, Thief, Beastmaster, Puppetmaster and Samurai.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I reside in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and would really only travel within Ontario, and even then probably only towards southern Ontario.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Anytime between May and September if they were ever in Canada to avoid bad road conditions. Good length would be 2 days unless on a long weekend, then maybe 3.

No, didn't manage to attend. From what I've read though, seems like everyone had a good time, and thing went more smoothly the second time around since it was a limited number of people.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Since I've never been, I don't think I could make many suggestions, and certain things I would say might have already been done. The one thing I would like to see is perhaps multiple fan fests throughout North America and Europe to give all fans a chance to experience. Have a fan fest tour of the world 09!

I started my account in my freshman year of high school so.... about 5 and a half years or so? My highest jobs are White Mage 75 and Summoner 75
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I live in California and I would prefer to not need to travel 3000 miles for an event. If it was held in Nevada I would go, but not much farther. Boo college students having no money Q_Q
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
Either Spring or Autumn. Weather is usually mild and that's always nice. 2 Days plus an early registration day would be perfect.

I thought the content of the event and the amount of *new* information released was rather lacking for the amount of money I payed to travel to LA. If it was 2 days, I would have been happier, but seeing the people I've been talking to in a game is what really made it for me.

More testable content. Maybe a live showing of upcoming HNMs or a drawing to have lunch with the Dev Team (lulz). Also allowing more tickets to be sold would be fantastic as a majority of my linkshell could not attend.
