Anytime is fine with me. A weekend or so is perfect.

No, I didn't attend and from the questions and stuff answered I thought it was a serious disappointment.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Fixes to stuff like Salvage drop rates. Some more low man content and less linkshell related events

Pennsylvania. I would be willing to travel for the right event. A single day event, I would most likely skip.

June or July. At least two days, anything less than that isn't really worth the hassle of traveling.

I did not attend. From the pictures and stories people brought back it looked like great time. It made regret my decision to not go.

I'd like to see the event stretched out across at least two days. A larger event would also be very nice. The tickets sold out so fast for this year's

1. I have been playing FFXI since about a week after NA PC release. I have RDM BLM BST BRD NIN and WAR at 75, with PLD reaching there soon. My first 75 was RDM.
2. I reside in Christiansburg, Virginia. I could/would travel out of state for an event were I so inclined, however, I don't usually do much traveling.
3. Were I to travel, I would prefer events not be held in the fall. I work for a university in the athletics department, so that's both the beginning of the academic year, and football season, which mean more work for me.
4. I did not this year's Fan Festival.
5. I would like to see more/better news. More interaction with the dev team in general, behind the scenes stuff, explanations of game mechanics, that sort of thing. Of course, this could be done on the main site or something too. I would like to see more art contests and things like that. I wouldn't imagine that the prizes don't impact SE much, considering normal corporate costs, but it's a fun thing for the community.
Letting people get first crack at stuff, or do unique events is cool and all, but to me it's only half the point if feedback isn't being collected.

Shortly after the PC launch, and before the PS2 launch. My highest level is a 64 WHM. That's not to say I play infrequently, I just avoid leveling a lot.

I live near San Fransisco, and I am not willing to travel out of state to attend events.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
During the summer would be most convenient so that the event doesn't conflict with school. I don't know about length... 3 days...?

I've been playing a total of 235 days and 5 hours in-game, although I've started since the North American PS2 release, with a couple long hiatuses in the middle. My highest job is a 75 Red Mage, and proud of it.

I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. As it stands, I cannot travel out of state, but if a Fan Fest was held in somewhere close like Orlando, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
In the winter, probably sometime after New Years, due to warm seasons being very unkind to me. 1-3 days look like enough time for such an event.
4. Did you attend Fan Festival 2008? If so, what did you think? If not, please let us know what you thought of the event.
I did not attend due to the location, but it seemed very fun. However, the information presented regarding future content was not only things we knew beforehand, but also not actual information. Filler, if you will. People knew what happened at Vanafest, and did not like hearing the same things again as well as the developers being as evasive as always, up to the point of people not being able to ask questions directly anymore and having SE choose to continue frustrating the playerbase.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Besides being able to use your own characters at events, I'd like to see information never heard or seen before, as well as a Q&A session that doesn't amount to the political tango. Having more than one translator may help to serve toward that end, if the questions aren't being stated right.
If by some miracle I win any drawings, PM is fine, as I hesitate to check my email daily.

I started playing in september 2005. I actually bought it for my wife, but I ended up playing it more. My highest level job is black mage 58.

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I can not go out of state for events.

I would like events to be held during the summer, or during my winter break from school. I think a good event should be about a week long, to accomodate different schedules. And allows for more people and prevent over crowding.

I started playing in september 2005. I actually bought it for my wife, but I ended up playing it more. My highest level job is black mage 58.

I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. I can not go out of state for events.
3. What time of the year would you prefer live events to be held? How many days would you like them to be?
I would like events to be held during the summer, or during my winter break from school. I think a good event should be about a week long, to accomodate different schedules. And allows for more people and prevent over crowding.

I prefer Winter because that's when my schedule tends to open up. 3 days I think is the best length of time for most people to experience all of an event.

Been playing since Christmas the year it was released in the US..but it was a rough start. Had a character deleted and got busy with school. Started getting more free time about 2-3 years ago maybe. Ive got rdm, whm and smn at 75.

Currently in Tennessee. Would be willing but probably isnt a financial reality. Though a sibling lives in AZ and it sounds like a good excuse to get money to go to that end of the country.

Around four or five years, ever since the Christmas after NA release. My highest level job is Beastmaster at level 75.

I live in Tennessee, near the border with Mississippi. I would be willing to travel out of state, but distance would still be a big issue in attending a live event for me.

I would prefer live events to be held over the summer (when college classes are generally not in session), and preferably indoors. 2-3 day events held over the weekend would also be preferable.

I did not attend Fan Festival 2008 because it took place during the final exam period at my University. From my internet-watching vantage point, Fan Fest looked great, but I was very disappointed by the lack of new information.
5. What kind of content would you like to see in upcoming live events?
Having never been to an event before, it is very difficult to answer this question. Cosplay and Art contests, previews of upcoming events, and Q&A panels with the development teams are all givens. One thing in particular that I think would be enjoyable would be a non-mechanic related Q&A about the world and history of Vanadiel. That is, a chance for the players to ask the dev team questions about the setting and backstory of the game without taking up questions from the more "serious" Q&A period. Additionally, I would like to see more 'unique' news revealed at the separate regional festivals. During the last fest, everything interesting that was announced had already been made known at the Japanese event a few week prior. While I understand why things were this way, it seems a shame that no 'surprises' were held back for the NA Fan Fest.

It was way too short, the lunch was very nice and getting to play with the mythic weapons was a real treat.

I have been playing for about 5 years now, and still going! My highest level jobs are PUP, BLU, and RDM at 75.
2. Where do you live and are you willing to travel out of state to attend live events?
I live in southern California, and while I might be willing to travel out of state, I am rather poor. :(

I have never attended one myself, so cannot say for sure, but personally I would think the fall would be ideal, as during that time the weather is mostly mild, not too hot or cold. As far as duration, perhaps 2-3 days or so?

I love the idea of perhaps bringing some of the events that occur in FFXI and modifiying it to the event, such as taking the tarut card quest and making a similar idea at the fanfest as the quest in the game. Other ideas along this line sound really fun!
