Sometimes i just want to hide the car in someones else's driveway
Walk home and lock the doors
unplug the phone
leave messenger's and emails off
log onto FFXI and go invisible mode and unequip LS
Go to Campaign Battles
Take my pants off, get my rubber ducky and zone out on FFXI
-----
But what really happens...

Someone will see me walking home and ask if they want to do something
People will be knocking at my door (damn church people)
Someone will be in the hospital and need to leave the phone on, so 10 telemarketer per hour and bill collectors
Logging into FFXI, someone with quick fingers will see i have logged in, tells the LS and asks why i'm not logged on
Can't chill out in Campaign Battles cause LS wants to do something
Can't take my pants off cause the kids are home for Summer Break
And the dog chewed up my rubber ducky

----------
And to add on... the mother inlaw and wife wants us all to go out to eat *insert face to keyboard*

Well at least people care for you.

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else find it annoying when someone quotes everything you say by breaking-it-all-down-into-sentances just to try point out their opinion. People ALWAYS do it if they disagree with you on something as if somehow, by doing so, they will win the internetz arguement.

Well, although I live in the northeastern USA, I am currently in Singapore for what was supposed to be a reasonable amount of time.

However, apparently I came in contact with someone who had H1N1 (Swine Flu), and so a couple of security police came to my hotel with a van and took me away to a quarantine facility, where I have been in solitary confinement isolation, and will be for several more days (luckily they provided me with a Starhub USB wireless modem and an internet access account).

So, yeah, Vana'diel looks QUITE a bit better than RL for me these days.

I often wish I could quit IRL and play FFXI full time. Then I have dreams that Vana'diel is a real place and areas like Bastok Markets are portrayed in the dream realm as a much larger place made up of actual matter instead of digital bits.

I once had a dream that Bastok Mines was like a big open market with IRL people everywhere.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlkxrGGNg10 was playing over and over instead of the bastok theme. It was kinda weird.

I did this a while ago with RL as well and I cheer you all on for it or whome have decided to shun it.

Now in RL I have..
No ringing phone.
No actual friends.
No aquantances.
No kids.
No nagging girlfriend.
A stable job.
A quiet life.

After giving up most of RL to just do my own thing I've been much happier. Of course I don't only play ffxi, have a lot of other things to do such as..

Play/Write music - Keybaord, drums, guitar, bass and violin, bad singer tho.
Computer programming - C++, VB2008, and old pascal just for sentimental value.
Work out - Go for runs, walks have a weight bench. 6'2 170 lean and happy.
Go to movies on my own.
Go out to eat on my own.
Do all shopping on my own.

It isn't self involved, or self centered to live such a life. I just prefer a bit of peace and quiet over the everyday hassle of that which is people. There are a lot of things I really don't miss about RL such as..

What people say. Or express.
What people do. Or want me to do with them.
What people think. Opinions are a waste of life to listen to.
What people's kid(s) are upto/doing. They are not special, millions just like them out there.
Conversations. Blah blah blah the other day blah blah.. stfu deal with it.
Phone calls. "HI, this AT&T." /Hello AT&T are you going to eat my cheese today? "Um, no." /Then you have nothing I want. **** off!
Emails. See conversations
Instant Messages. See conversations and emails.

The list goes on but just isn't worth really putting it all up. I think the point is well off enough said.

Since I couldn't sig, I did the next best thing. Good writing. :)

I sure hope not. It has been proven the earth is indeed flat.

Quote:
Although we have, through the years, made significant progress towards understanding the viewpoint of Efimovich's followers, we still recognize the holes in the intricate web Efimovich wove. Ours is the truth, the truth of the world's flatness, and ours is also the burden of proof. We are the minority, the followers of lies being the majority, and we gladly accept our burden, if in the end that acceptance means ridding the world of the foul half-truths spread by Grigori Efimovich and his brood of vipers. We present the following five arguments, each completely logical and to some degree building off of the arguments before it. We hope that, after carefully considering what we say here, you will look a with a little less ridicule on the Flat Earth Society and its members.

So, go ahead, carry on down the rabbit hole..

Quote:
Once again, picture in your mind a round world. Now imagine that there are two people on this world, one at each pole. For the person at the top of the world, (the North Pole), gravity is pulling him down, towards the South Pole. But for the person at the South Pole, shouldn't gravity pull him down as well? What keeps our person at the South Pole from falling completely off the face of the "globe"?

Quote:
Using the "round Earth" theory, setting an object on the earth would be like setting grains of sand on a beach ball. Certainly a few grains would stay - right around the top, the surface is nearly horizontal - but when you stray too far from the absolute top of the ball, the grains of sand start sliding off and falling onto the ground. The Earth, if round, should behave in exactly the same fashion. Because the top is a very localized region on a sphere, if the Earth were in fact round, there would be only a very small area of land that would be at all inhabitable. Stray to the outside fringes of the "safe zone", and you start walking at a tilt. The further out you go, the more you slant, until your very survival is determined by the tread on your boots. Reach a certain point, and you slide off the face of the planet entirely. Obviously, something is wrong.

These are modern day "scientists". I rest my case.

I wasn't trying to make out that my "problems" were god awful and the end of the world, sorry RattyBatty. I'm not perfect as I'm sure nobody is, sometimes it's easy to forget.

Please do not apologize that person. You were stating your feelings on the current situation in your life, there should never be need to apologize to anyone for that. Let alone some bitter, angry stranger on the internet.

Yes, it sucks that you're having medical issues. But hey, there are people out there that have to endure far worse ones. Would you take so kindly to them telling you "to suck it up" and that you're problems are shallow just because they're different from the ones that you suffer. Why is that people now days feel that there is some kind of unspoken competition as to who has the worst life or the greatest problems? If you have a problem with something a person is posting on here, then you could always exercise your freedom to not read it. There's no need to be a #$%^ though.

I threw myself at FFXI to ignore RL after my Dad died rather suddenly and unexpectedly. I couldn't get my head around RL at the time, there were too many people to deal with and the stress of it all was too much for me at the time. There was just too much to cope with and I needed somewhere I could GTFO and not have to deal with things. I wanted to lock myself away from RL and mentally, that's what I did.

I'm sure many people would say that's not the best way to deal with that kind of thing, but it worked for me and in a time where all I felt was utter misery, FFXI provided me with a sanctuary of things to do that took my mind off the RL problems I was trying not to deal with.

That was over 3yrs ago now and I'm glad I did it. Over a period of time I slowly managed to deal with things in a more controlled manner, rather than the chaotic way my head was after it all happened.

Only problem is now I'm hooked....hooked as in when someone rings to speak to me I ask if I can ring them back if a HNM window is close, or I have plans within FFXI. I get rather short tempered if anyone takes me away from FFXI if I have plans....that's not supposed to happen! My RL revolves around FFXI, isn't it supposed to be the other way around?!

I used to see my RL friends regularly. Now I see them 1 night a week. It's planned like a military operation so I can get onto FFXI with minimal downtime.

If I won the lottery tomorrow and could retire to play FFXI then I'd do it in a heartbeat. Worryingly.

After playing the game since NA release, making friends and saying goodbye to others, I've learned quite a lot.

In my case, im like many people here. FFXI is my escape, and in my experience (based on many of my closest friends online), those of us that play the most are usually using FFXI as an escape from RL.

When the **** really hits the fan, it's totally soothing for me to log on and just relax, participating in whatever's going on with my online friends. They don't have to know whether I'm going through hell or not, as I don't have to know about their personal life. But, once you get closer and form real bonds in V'anadiel, you realize that there are a lot of people on the same boat, with their individual situations. I've been lucky enough to meet some of the best people in game, and we have developed a sort of understanding between us.

whether this is good or bad, who knows? I know that sometimes when i look at the news, or when i think about what is going on around me, it just feels so much better having to deal with the beastmen.

I giggled at the name of this thread XD.

There's no escaping it; just live with it, and look at the positive sides of life.

At least you have a family, have enough bucks to pay FFXI fee and internet fee, have somewhere to play FFXI, have a best friend, have at least had a boyfriend, etc. etc. etc.!

Everyone has to live with it, EVERYONE!

Not if she has Oxyale! But that depends on if she released the bottled pixie at the pond.

Hey wait a minute, Trial by Water? Are you saying Pikko can't beat Leviathan, that Leviathan > Pikko? That may itself be blasphemy in some parts.

I think the real blasphemy might be that he is assuming Pikko doesn't have any supernatural powers.

Yeah, she's like Pele, except replace lava with the power to make plants grow and supernatural cooking artistry. She probably has the power to bring to life an army of chia pets to do her bidding and mysterious injuries befall posters who get on her wrong side via her making culinary voodoo dolls of the poster and sticking toothpicks in them.

Quoted for truth. It's a jerk thing to do to tell someone to "suck it up" when they have problems, because your own problems are somehow "more important". And this coming from someone who has friends repeatedly saying "I shouldn't whine about my little problems, I know what you've had to go through has been way way worse"... and guess what? I always tell them to talk about it, talking about it does make it better, even if by only a little bit. I'm no saint though, after all these years I've more or less gotten the attitude that go to hell with your sympathy. What is, is, and it's not gonna get better no matter how many times I hear "oh poor you". At least let me pretend I have a normal life. >.>

Ahem... sorry for the off-topic rant. As for topic, the latest time with RL I just had it was after very stressful school week (exam and having to submit a big programming project) and then working three days at a job I hadn't been trained for at all (the gist of instructions was "answer the phone and tell everyone to call again on Monday", that makes some very pissed off people), while having to take care of household chores and cooking dinner, with my brother lazying around the house and making a mess all day, while we were supposed to have the policy that who has the most free time does the chores (that had been me for the past 8 months). And top that off with 2 weeks of organizing HIS graduation party when he wasn't doing anything for it (invitations didn't leave till 5 days before party). So after the party, I ended up yelling at the rest of family that I want my computer space right this second, and just sat there playing for 2 days straight (with a small break to pack my bags since I was leaving 3 days later).

I did feel a whole lot better after that. :)

Ah life, you'll never make it out alive!

I've been in one relationship, and was cheated on.. Can't really put into words what that feels like, anything written would be a vast understatement. So my trust when it comes to that is like negative - I've just given up on people altogether in that light. Can't trust anyone as far as you can throw 'em.
