Essentially this is making the entire game vastly easier. It really does feel like the end times for FFXI.
Really?
As in...seriously?
Now, I know and I'm sure you know that time spent is not synonymous with challenge. I can sit here for three hours typing the word "spork" over and over again and the only thing that would be hard about it would suppressing the urge to substitute typing the word with gouging my eyes out with one out of sheer boredom.
BUT...
Look at all the tasty bits you're getting. 24 levels. TWENTY. FOUR. LEVELS. (And BLM are getting Meteo...just announced as I was typing this. Just thought I'd throw that in.)
But back to the levels...the single largest jump in vertical progression since I stopped playing the game how many years ago? 3? 4?
Finally!
But wait! If you order in the next 3 years (because you know we can't do this forever), we'll throw in all kinds of new zones to level in! And we'll implement system changes so that those thumb-in-*** time sink components (ie. trying to get a party) are less of an issue.
But wait, there's more!
We're tweaking jobs! Versatility is the order of the day! Let's get everyone involved (
for a change) and take a page from the book of <company that shall not be mentioned> when we try to spread out those "buffs and debuffs we
just can't group without"!
And we're
still not done! New gear, new weapons! Upgrades for existing weapons that involve challenging quests! What? We've gone crazy! We're supposed to be shutting the servers down next week but here we are paving the way to at least another 2 years worth of potential content, and not just reskinned crabs, either!
Since I left the game, there hasn't been a single addition that presented the potential to extend the life of the game like the ones announced tonight And they're managing to do it in a way that makes it seem like they're aware of those things that have been so damaging to the game up to this point. Maybe you just need a break.
