for some reason, the last month and this month, I can't get EITHER payment method to work for me...Is there some secret I don't know about?

I have a checking account, with a Visa Debit card, with BofA. I have a checking account, with a Mastercard Debit card with Ally. Neither of them will be accepted. It refused my paypal account.

Really hate this system

Bye bye Click-and-Ban.

Crysta via UltimatePay has always worked for me, and it takes my Discover card. (And they take PayPal, for whoever up there was complaining about wanting to use that.) Every other month I drop 2990 into it, and it remembers my card info too. The only thing I still have to use my stupid Visa card for is domain name renewals.

Creating, allowing and promoting Clickandbuy as a payment was a failure. Especially with the whole "no credit card option for you", it was clearly a lack of understanding/care of the player base. I'm sure there was some type of kickback involved.

What I suspect is that some SE exec in that department had heard the bad things about C&B, but thought it surely could not be that bad.

Years later, now that C&B is three months behind forwarding payments to SE (or whatever drama is causing this divorce), they learned they were wrong.

You talking about crysta or something else? Crysta always played nice with my debit/paypal

Not entirely true; C&B still owes me three bucks. Smiley: mad

Most likely, it was because SE had few options at the time, and was in danger of losing access to Credit Card payments entirely. Prior to the introduction of the system, FFXI had been hit by a massive wave of hacking and RMT-related credit card fraud, combined with chargebacks by unhappy players. Credit card companies will levy hefty fines against companies with excessive problems, or lock them out altogether.

If ClickandBuy is being discontinued, it is probably a sign that SE's reputation with CC processing companies has improved.

I'm in the same boat, ClickAndBuy was the only payment provider I could get to work when they changed over. I've just seen this since I'm getting ready for FFXIV and still can't add my credit card to my account even two years later.

Going to be really annoyed if they've locked me out of paying them again :(

Just changed over from Click & Buy a few days ago using my debit card and seemed to go through ok.
(I have no idea how much crysta to buy anyway)
I won't know how successful it will be till my first payment is made.

Yup, mine worked too; had a small issue to begin with because I tried to add the card whilst I was connected to my VPN, and apparently the credit card server geolocates the IP address against the country of the card, and locks you out of it if it doesn't match. So I contacted support, they reset it, took about 24 hours to "reset", then tried it from home and it worked.
