I'm coming back on after five years. FF14 just doesn't do it for me. It's more of an arcade game than an RPG.

I actually had the same thought and resubbed just a few days ago.

Unfortunately after figuring out the little things again (like how to dress myself) I got brickwalled pretty hard. It seems I'd progressed just a little bit too far in ToAU (seriously it was like 3 missions past the apparent point of no return) and now I'm required to finish the expansion before I can continue in RoV. I've been doing a pretty good job soloing the ToAU fights up to Path of Darkness.... And then Path of Darkness happened and I got absolutely destroyed. Outlevel the mission by 13 levels? Pfft... Wuss. Tried it a few times now and the only response I can manage is "ow, my everything."

Oh well... I'll either manage to get past it or not. The RoV story was getting interesting too.

Being 88 probably isn't enough for some of the old 75 cap missions, assuming that your issue. Hitting 99 and jumping into sparks gear should otherwise cover you on most pre-Adoulin content with good Trust layout.

Also take into consideration they added (and continuing to do so) more ways through records of eminence to get certain trusts and to get you started once you hit 99 (basically free set of 117 and some 119 pieces.)

Yeah I'm 97 and climbing now... just did my last limit break last night. I'll probably be a little shy of the sparks needed to buy a full set of gear right away, but some subjob leveling should round me out. Definitely not a matter of not getting enough sparks, actually kind of a matter of getting too many... wasn't paying attention to how much the gear cost.

I'm hoping that with some level 99 gear I can handle the last ToAU fights and continue in RoV.

EDIT for thrilling conclusion!:

Why yes, at 99 with sparks gear, those fights were hilariously easy.
