Better really, really, really late than never, I guess.

Expanding the areas for /yell? So much for a quiet day of fishing in Rabao. Not that it matters much anyhow, Sylph has died so much in the past 2-3 months that you can go hours without seeing a yell now.

Rental chocobos in the Shadowreign Era belong to the allied forces, and thus are unable to dig.

What. Not that I ever cared about chocobo digging, or even was aware that they could in _S, but it's awful late to care about that. I guess what they are really saying is now that you can dig there on a personal chocobo, you still can't on rental chocobos which never could.

Anyhow, I'm glad we can ride mounts there now.

Chocobos are now initially more receptive to players when the rearing process starts.

I recently tried raising a chocobo (it's got about two weeks left until forced retirement, and I'll probably follow it by letting my subscription lapse), and wow, SE really can't make a decent mini-game. The whole thing is way unbalanced against the player, especially if you have no way to get chocobucks items (such as vomp carrots). Would it have hurt them to add chocobucks to sparks currency exchange? I can do "race with others" every day and it will still get "bored" because I don't race it with others enough.

And I have been absolutely unable to even win the first pre-race. At best I came in 5th place once. In an intro race. And I couldn't figure out how to use one type of +stats items.

As annoying as it is/was, there was at least some logic to this, especially back in the old days when there was a lot more exploration involved in the game, and warps/teleportation were not as easy to come by. I can imagine being a low level adventurer out on that first chocobo ride taking a wrong turn and getting bumped without a mount or means of warp in Zi'Tah, or outside a beastman capital, or Yhutunga/Yoator Jungle, and facing a long and dangerous walk back. Ok, I still always carried a warp scroll back then, but still, there was a little logic to how they handled things, even if it could be annoying.

But mounts are a newer system though, and this isn't even applied to rental chocobos. Technically speaking the original issue is still very much present, it's just that no one will even care anymore because anyone can get a mount.

Did you try growing your own? It's been a while since I've done any, since I've already got a decent digger and decided I didn't care enough to try raising a top-end racer, but all the special chocobo foods except worms (which are as far as I'm aware useless) can be grown pretty easily. It's not one of those "if you're lucky you'll get one out of all your pots" things, I would usually get dozens of assorted greens from one batch, and while carrots weren't quite so profuse I'd still get them from at least half my pots.

I dunno if Azouph Greens are any good, but you can also buy as many as them as you want (with cruor) by signing up for one of the resistance ops that involves chocobo escort (Desert Rain or Ward Warden)
