Some questions on RUNFollow

Kind of interested in the job... it has a lot of my favorite skills from other jobs (like regen) and what looks like enspells.

What I want to know is how it is at soloing and DDing? I always liked PLD but when it came time to kill things it was always so slow and I had similar feelings about RDM. Looking at how RUN works I am assuming they are in a similar position to those two jobs but not for sure. I also like the subjobs they tend to use.

...and I love great swords so that is a bonus.

Yes, RUN is a tank job, so don't expect to set dps records with it.

Generally speaking, RUN is able to buff its elemental resistances to crazy levels (rivaling and possibly even surpassing that of an Aegis PLD) but only to one element at a time. If something attacks with just one element, RUN can usually shut it down. In most other cases though, Aegis PLD is still preferred (pretty much any PLD serious about the job nowadays should have Aegis or be trying to get one)

If you have current ilvl gear, RUN does put out nice numbers and can indeed solo (and even then good chance you can have trusts with you) but surviving is a bit weird for RUN. It's not a brickhouse like PLD but it's not exactly squishy either. If the mob you're fighting for example spams Fire abilities/spells/endamage etc you're golden because it won't ever use anything to force you out of an elemental "stance" so to speak so you can just focus on doing what you do.

Since they mainly use GSD and has access to some pretty damn good ones (including their ergon obviously) doing solid Damage is more than possible. Keep in mind though, it's sort of like playing a more tanky RDM in a sense that you're not necessarily going to "tank and spank", it does have abilities that works well for DD purposes.
