Confused as to how to take advantage of this. It's not letting me log onto POL, but it's also saying not to reactivate your account or you will be charged. What do? It's not very clear.

Did you migrate your POL account to a standard SE account at some point? That's about the only thing I can think of. If you have an SE account it should work.

Are you getting any kind of error message? What's the actual status of your FFXI account on the SE account page?

Works fine for me just like it did last fall, log in like usual, go through four hours of patches, you're in until the event expires. But I only quit last September or so.

LM-25 error, "To use PlayOnline services, you will need to log on to the Square Enix Account Management System and reactivate them."
It's listed under Cancelled Service Accounts.

I'm guessing I could easily reactivate and get back in if I tried, I'm just worried about it billing me when it shouldn't and losing out on the free days.

I think this is the problem, from the page it says you won't be charged for just reactviating the service account.

No, but remember how bonkers their account system is.

Just reactivate the service account (not the FFXI content IDs).

Wouldn't know; this is the first time my account's been deactivated ever since I started playing (not because I necessarily wanted to, but because I went on a 4-month trip... and now I've just decided to keep it deactivated for a while because I have many other things going on in my life now)

Anyway, I'm just gonna go ahead and assume that as long as it isn't asking for CC confirmation, I'm not doing anything wrong.

It's an archaic system that's been patched over with various types of bandaids again and again and again, so...

Other than dumping a massive load of money into a revamp/overhaul of the billing system that they use for everything (including XIV!), I don't think that will change anyday soon.

It really should be easier and more understandable what exactly you're meant to do, but meh. PlayOnline itself was a mistake and I'm pretty sure the devs admitted that at one point, but yet also said that it would be impossible to remove POL from FFXI because the two are so integrated.

I'm just thankful that they didn't carry that junk over into FFXIV, lol. It's a simple launcher that you enter your UN/PW into, checks for updates and then boots the game up. No bells, whistles, etc.

I don't really find that many problems with the system itself, but whoever does the instructions for these comeback campaigns ought to be drug out into the street and [REDACTED].

Willing to bet it's the same guy(s) that have been giving us erroneous in-game campaign information for a while now; such as when we were told exp/cp ring durations were getting doubled when they actually weren't, unity NM drops from "groups 1 and 2" were getting doubled when it was actually ALL unity NMs, etc...

You mean this campaign?

It seems like they are indeed doubled during this campaign; I'm getting a levelup and a half out of one ring charge, and each levelup takes 45-50k so that's like.. 70-ish k which seems about right (30k x2 and take off 10-15k for RoEs and junk).

You don't need to cancel your "Service Account" when taking a break from the game, only the content ID's (characters) need be cancelled. Not really sure what the point of the service account is.?. I'm going to assume this is probably the issue you are having. Hope this helps for in the future at least.

When I want to stop paying for the game for a while I change my recurring currency type to crysta. And then oops I have no crysta... guess my account gets deactivated.

This is mostly because the terminology SE uses on their account page kinda freaks me out. Canceling an account means something different to me.

Two months ago, they claimed there was supposed to be a Wanted Dial, but in all fairness, the Wanted Dial never appeared on the JP webpage, but did on the NA one. Obviously, the Wanted Dial never showed up, and many people were downright angry because they resubbed mules specifically for the Dial, lol.

But at any rate, this month's XP/CAP rings + XP/CAP boost very much is functioning. I can personally attest to that; last night I did 5 charges (two Trizek and 3 Facility) and got ~16 JP out of it.

Considering a JP is 30,000 CAP and 5x 30k is only 150,000 CAP which is 5JP, it indeed appears to be boosted.
