Post in THIS thread about R0 issues, pieces of R0 Enlightenment, R0 updates, R0 chats with SE reps, R0 dead zones, R0 router fixes, R0 fan art, R0 t-shirts, R0 fantasy fiction, etc etc etc. My apologies in advance for any collateral damage done to un-related threads.

Henceforth, every new thread about R0 I see dated after the creation of this thread will receive a rate bombing from me that would make Kao jealous.

You are warned.

EDIT

Yes. I meant thread. Sorry. It's 11PM, I'm still in the office, TRYING to finish up, and having to stop everything I'm doing to babysit is about as enjoyable as pulling teeth.

Speaking of rate-bombing, we had a vigilante one on that thread titled just "R0", which actually isn't even about R0 at all. Smiley: tongue

Good idea in terms of concentrating threads. SE needs to acknowledge their problem immediately, and we need to give them a few days to fix it. After those few days are up, it's time to stop whining and start putting our money where our mouth is.

If these problems are not solved by Sunday, March 18th at 11:59pm PST, I propose that we cancel our content IDs until the problem is solved

Anyone with me? I'll cancel the 12 IDs on my two accounts, and maybe we can at least get a dozen or so others to cancel their accounts as well. We can post a pledge on this website--promising that we won't re-activate the IDs until SE starts acting more like a company with viable competitors and less like the only crack dealer in the neighborhood.

Even if I'm alone, I'm canceling my accounts. It might send a message though to get a few dozen people canceling along with me.

EDIT: Imagine that...within 10 seconds of posting this message, my R0 problems disappeared :P

Sorry, but knowing that I'm going to want to play when the issue is finally resolved, I'm not cancelling only to have to go through the agony of fighting all of you guys for a call center rep to get it back! ^_^

Actually, when you restore the content ID your character will already be there--in fact, you'll always be able to see your character, you just can't log in as your character. It would likely only mean that they lost one month of pay from whoever decides to cancel. At the rate things are going now, I don't figure there's a lot of point continuing for many people: I mean, what good is the content ID if you're stuck on an airship, inside a crag, or in Sea?

Well, I'm not afraid, rate me down!

It's important to me that folks don't continue walking around believing that SE did not completely lie to us here. The following is a post I made on another FFXI forum this morning. After doing some reading on the issue here, I feel all of you who are standing up for SE on this issue need to read this. The important part is the bit at the bottom about SE's Better Business Bureau grade.

theimpax wrote:
It's funny that people believe some of the pretty obvious BS that SE has put out during this issue.

Luckily for SE, we are so addicted to their virtual crack (I include myself in that statement), it really doesn't matter what they say or do.

Anyway, I have been a SysAdmin for several large companies for in my area and in my experience I can tell you, especially on an issue of this caliber, there are no coincidences in the IT world.

Let me first state that personally I don't care too much that my chars can't visit Upper Jeuno, Batallia Downs, West Sarutabaruta, and probably several other zones I havent yet discovered to be problematic. I am sure that this will get fixed eventually, and until then: Spring just hit and it's awesome weather in Northern California!

My problem is that I don't like being lied to for stuff I pay for.

The basis of the SE lie is that there is some network problem occuring that is out of their control. Mainly they claim that the issue resides beyond the scope of their computer network. From the various tech support incidents I have read, people have been told various things like:

-There is a problem with your router
-There is a problem with your ISP
-There is a problem with a major internet backbone

Simple troubleshooting can disprove all of these things:

-It's not a router problem because probably around half of all connections pre-issue were using routers (like me) with no problems. Post-issue we continue to be able to surf and connect to services (Including services in JP) with no change in stability, except within FFXI.

-If there was a problem with ISP's it would have been distinct and grouped. Thus far it has been pretty scattered, DSL, cable, whatever. Comcast has been mentioned alot, thats just cause they are pwning the broadband market right now.

-If it were a backbone issue I would not be able to play reliably on ANY zones. Simple.

Thats the technical side. Now on the public relations side there are also pretty strong symtoms of SE giving us the bendover:

To begin with everyone was calling for a GM using a GM Petition. Then GMs began spamming the 'it's not our fault' message. Then we get an official information post saying the GM Petition service is experiencing problems /laugh

Then on Monday we have reports from various people trying to contact Tech Support and getting varied answers like those addressed in the technical section above. Many of those who tried to use tech support chat just got a blanket response and their chat session was terminated.

Tuesday morning an un-announced server maintenance on all worlds? (I havent been online since this, I am hoping this is the fix ^^)

And finally (I learned this yesterday on another thread) SE has an outstanding Better Business Bureau (BBB) grade/score: F. For those of you who did not go to school in America, we rate our students on a scale from A-F (and we skip E, dunno why) where A is top of the class, F is a Fail. The BBB is a consumer service that attempts to resolve cases between clients and the businesses they patronize. When a client makes a complaint, the BBB sends it on to the business for an explaination of what was going on. In the end the business is given a grade on how well they deal with their customer's complaints. An F means SE has Failed to provide adequate support to their customers. If SE was a student in school, it would not be allowed to graduate and deal with the public until it improved its grades.

The link for their score can be found here:
Square-Enix BBB Grade

I apologize for extending an topic that people are sick of hearing about, but a forum is for expression and everytime I read someone defending SE it makes me cringe.

SE is a f@$@ed up company that has awesome game designers.

PS I thouroughly enjoyed pikko's thread on activity alternatives do take part in while R0ing ^^ This is the right attitude for an issue like this.

I think one of the problems in seeing multiple threads (about many issues really) is that people know that SE reads these boards now. They also know alla is considered a 'premium site'. I think a lot of the venting and superflous posts are just people hoping SE will read it and hear their opinion on the matter. It's the only voice to the 'higher ups' that they have. And who can blame them? 3 years invested in something and its pulled out from under you.....I'd be upset too.

Quite wrong. This forum has a long history of "hey, my idea is slightly different. Instead of posting it in this existing thread, let me make a whole brand new thread that doesn't really discuss anything that isn't already in the three threads next to the one I was reading!"

This has been happening all the way back to when I was a new poster here.

Fuggin enough already.

The thing with something as big as this is that when it's this huge, I will now make certain that I send the links over to the Community Relations team. People don't need to start 60 threads on the issue.

I like the perspective you used. And the picture is so lifelike--Im almost worried it will jump out of the screen at me! Would you be so kind as to enlighten me with the message you were trying to create with this work of art? What exactly is the hidden meaning behind all this?

It's really just a picture of my cat. I ran about 42 different photoshop filters on it and that's what it came out as.
