Hey Everyone,

Well I didn't get to play long last night but I learned a few important things. Such as if I can solo... Then I should, because I gain XP so much faster and die much less.

Another thing that I found out the hard way is that you have to keep sorting your stuff on a regular basis, because it wont fail the one time you pick up an item you are really interested in you don't have enough room in your inventory and it gets junked. Is there any way to have it auto stack these items for you?

Anyhow, don't have a whole lot to add today.

Take it easy!

Hey, no, sadly there is no way to Auto-stack, thats legit anywho. If you have an older version of a wondower they used to have an Auto-sort thing, but basically, no. Just fort every few fights, and if you notice a Treasure Pool, that means you are out of Room.

I should have explained the soloing thing better. When I was in a group we'd often fight much tougher mobs to get the same experience. These mobs would kill me in 3 hits if I drew hate. When I solo I can sit there and kill rabits and bees and they drop in one spell and two hits. Give me about the same experience as the big guys (when in a group) but they rarely even land a blow! I have 90 mp which means exactly 10 stones. I can kill 10 mobs before I rest and do it relatively quickly gaining between 20-40xp a kill. When in a group I had to cast stone/water three times, spent a lot of time standing around waiting for my tank to become well hated, and died 50% of the time that I did draw hate.

Hope that helps explain it.

Only the 3rd party windower has a tool like that. So your hosed on that bit. Dont worry though there is finally starting to be plenty of space on one char these days. With all the mog house, gobbie bags, and locker stuff thats a lot of inventory.

Plus they are always adding stuff to the storable npc people.

You will also quickly come to understanding that soloing is not as fast as a party. It only seems like that now due to your low level. Granted thete are exceptions.

Also when in a party you should be concentrating on hate managment. If you drawing to much hate you really need to back off. A good BLM will know where the hate line is and ride it very well.

Hey DjSleepyD I tried to /befriend you last night but it said you didn't exist. What is your name on Carbuncle?

Yeah, at the low levels it's good to solo. I grouped because I thought it would be a good experience and it was... But I wonder if a dancer just doesn't draw enough hate to make me useful. I thought I was doing a decent job of hate management, I'd let him take 3-4 shots then I'd cast a spell but it wasn't always enough, and I really just got tired of standing there.

I'll have to reread the posts from yesterday about those Gobbie bags to see at what level you can get them. I thought someone mentioned being level 30, thats a ways away yet!

lol not on FFXI i meant on xbox live i didnt make a character on carbuncle yet if you give me your Gamertag ill add you when i get off of work today ^^. You can get gobbie bags as early as lvl 1 just getting the fame for them is the trouble you can do repeatable quests to get decent fame in a minimul amount of time.

I think you might have an easier time killing weaker things until level 10 when you group. You can find a party and kill tougher things at a lower level, but until the exp starts to slow up on smaller things, soloing is prolly the best way to go.

My XBox ID is Twadd777777.

I'll have to look into getting fame, there are a number of quests where you just turn in items that you get an abundance of while killing those little guys I've been camping.

Its kind of fun reading your posts Twadd, it reminds me of how I was about 5-6 years ago (during beta tests). Really glad to hear things are going well for you! I definitely suggest the soloing route, especially with BLM. Parties that early on tend to lack the ability to pull monsters off a BLM at times.

Have you been checking for new spells yet? You mentioned using 10 stone spells. Not sure what level you are at now, but make sure by level 10 you have: Stone, Poison, Blind, water, Bind, Aero and Bio. Bind can be your friend on tougher mobs. You can bind them and trow a few nukes at them while they are out of melee range and take them down a good chunk before then get to come at you.

Keep up the great work, you have some fun times ahead!

Thanks,

I'm glad its been encouraging for you guys to read my posts. I am level 6. I have a list off all the BLM spells and at what levels they are available. I think Bind is the next spell I need. And I need one more Onion to get the Blazing Spikes or whatever that spell is called. I couldn't find Bind in the magic store so I assume I have to buy it on the AH. I haven't checked that yet in the search but I will.

Thanks,
Twadd

Blaze Spikes is not a particularly useful spell for soloing, I reccomend you sell it on the auction house and use the gil.

The Warp spell is very useful as is Drain (takes monster HP and gives it to you) and Aspir (takes monster MP if it has MP, and gives it to you) unfortunately they require rank 2 or 3 in mission progression and a certain level of fame with Sandoria and Bastok to do.

For the Bind Scroll, here is a link

It can drop off of Yagudo Scribes in East Sarutabaruta, and they are around lvl 1-8.

Good Luck

Thanks, I'll have to look into where those scribes are and whether I can kill them or not. I haven't yet tried to sell anything on the AH, I have found that many of hte items I have I need for quests and since it seems like fame is relatively important I'm going to keep them for that.

Thanks,
Twadd

Once you go to dunes, just do the Selbina quest =and get max fame.

"Melyon (I-9) at Selbina will pay premium price for any of the following: Five heads of La theine cabbage (100g), three ears of millioncorn (120g), One clump of boyahda moss (600g)"
.
I did supply outpost quest first for Zulkheim(includes Valkurn DUNES outpost), then basically went naked and bought millioncorn in N. Sandy from Antonian (J-8) and Phamelise in S.. Sandy (K-9) for Cabbages

3 ears of corn would be 150 to purchase and 120 to sell so net loss of 30 or 120 per stack of 12.

You will probably come close to max out fame with about 60 stacks (2 trips naked ) for net loss of about 7200 gil. Of course you need at least about 18,000 gil really to stack up on corn for a trip.

When I did mine, I had to do cabbages and 4 trips since Sandy didnt control the area when I did this quest and vendor wasnt selling.

Basically, buy items while naked, Outpost warp to dunes, head to selbina and then trade to meylon 3 at a time. You would be close to max fame for all 3 cities and more than enough Jeuno fame.

Just want to add my two cents -

I would not sell Blaze Spikes when you get it. I disagree with the statement that it is not a particularly useful spell for soloing. From my perspective the only use it has is for soloing. Blaze Spikes causes mobs to suffer fire damage when they hit you. I wouldn't want to be without it.

Actually, the fame from this quest does not apply to windurst, I know this for 100% fact.

As for the quest, it is in selbina, a guy who looks like maat near some sheep. Trade him the items mentioned above and you'll get a small amount of gil return but also fame for bastok, sandoria, and jueno. Which will make unlocking quests EASY!

a blm soloing would be doing best if he isn't getting thwacked by things (i.e. Sleep/Bind Nuke method)

blaze spikes is useful I guess if erm, well, help me out here? In case something makes it to you and is thwacking at you and you want it to take pretty low some fire damage compared to how much HP things have that you would solo for xp?
