Post your goals!

Mine:

1. Level Warrior - Nearly at 58, hoping that he is at least 59 by next Thursday.
2. Cap Esoterics. I might buy warrior axe and coat at some point. Might.
3. Keep eyes open for a Ramuh farm.
4. Run A1-A3, get last spring and two bolts to finish up caster.

Playing pretty lightly these days. Spending time on other games that have been building up in my Steam Library of Shame. Currently Mass Effect (I know... I'm a little late to that party).

This week I'll cap esoterics and continue to work on getting my combat jobs to 51. I'd really like the high-level roulette dungeons to give exp, please.

LTW and ALC are both 59 currently. They'll probably be 60 by the end of the week.

Hoping for a busy and rewarding week in Eorzea:

Verdha plans to get ARM to 50 this week, and start on one of the last two non-50 crafting jobs. This is really limited by Leve allowance refresh at present. Also get BRD and DRG to 34, unlock NIN and get it to 34 too. She's started to shift back into the MSQ progression too -- she just hit Idyllshire last night -- and slowly easing up her healer jobs. All retainers are currently limited by character job levels (except the MNK60, of course), and it would be nice to slip a level on each of those to get that moving again.

Waenlona desperately needs more gil, but not spending on crafting should help that soon. She too will also move forward on MSQ if for no other reason than to upgrade gear she can't afford. WVR is almost at 50 now to cross-class Careful Synthesis II in other crafts, but she'll probably hold off on those other crafts until gil builds back up. She needs to pick back up on FSH, that should be fun.

I haven't played in a week or two (thanks to Destiny).

I'd love to log in this weekend and knock out a dungeon or two!

Finally beat Ravanna Extreme(ly annoying) and like I called it, after takin an hour+ to finally beat that fight, he drops a weapon for a job that NO ONE in the party was playing as. And I did it without havig to pay some stupidly absured carry group price nor did I get carried for free my an experienced group who coulda done it w/o my participation.

Net goal.

Beat Alex Savage (at LEAST 1, 2 and 3) under the same conditions

I gave my best panel yet to a packed room at AWA last night. Made a new friend on my server too.

and just like that my accomplishment has been "negated", so i join a Ravanna EX farm party, and get kicked after the first wipe because I "have no clue" and "dont know the fight"... Despite you know... not getting a tome bonus on entry meaning I obviously musta completed it, thus I must have SOME clue.

Now sure I havent done the fight over 9000! times to the point whee i could do it blindfolded, with one broken arm and the other with severe arthritis while having bestiality with a pig, like all the other elitists douchebags whove been doin it since June whereas it was my 2nd run after taking 2 hours 2 days ago to complete it ONCE.

But oh well, alas FFXIV's **** poor community strikes again

While thats 100% true, the current hangout spot (idyllshire) shouts and PF messages/requirements I always see seem to reflect what I said... so while I know ppl who dont suck definitely do exist in said community, theyre either the minority or the ones that DO suck, are the most vocal/more noticed...

I mean for example go to PF and see a PF called "Ravanna ex farm, must have clear/know fight" and see how fast that fills up...

Now go to PF and seed "Help me clear Ravanna" or "Ravanna EX progression/learning" party and youll see that one never fill up or take 6 hours to do so.

That has nothing to do with people being douchy though. That's just people wanting to get things done while they're playing.

Just like FFXI, there is a ton of value in XIV in finding a good group (FC) to play with.

Name ONE time in ffxi history where ppl refused to do something with someone whos never done it before?

And youre right about the FC thing, too bad the entire world doesnt operate on a mon-fri 9-5 schedule like everyone who plans statics of fc events seem to think

what you mean to say ppl stopped teaching newbies how to do stuff all of a sudden and adopted the ffxiv mentality? I cant really speak or confirm/deny your statement sine the last time i played was after moogle kupo detata came out but before shannattots acension mini expansion hit

but considering FFXIs playstyle i seriously doubt getting a first timer through shinryu was impossible/hard

LB10 about a week after it was released.

Here's why.

Prior to the completion of the Shinryu fight, a Primordial Brew (item that raised all stats to 9999 temporarily) cost 2 million cruor. After defeating the Shinryu fight, it was merely 200K cruor. Still a lot, but one person could farm that much cruor in a few days.

So a Shinryu "farm party" wanted 6 people with a primordial brew to solo him down, one at a time, for maximum farming efficiency. A Shinryu clear party still probably had at least one person who was using a brew, but if you didn't have 3-4 other good people who knew the fight, even with the cheat method of primordial brew there was a risk for failure since a brew only lasted for 2 minutes of god mode and he would take a lot longer than that to kill if the RNG screwed you over. (He only took damage during specific portions of the fight, and the rest of the time hitting him restored health. So doing a massive weaponskill at the wrong time during Primordial Brew god mode would restore him to 100% health.)

I'm not saying that it was impossible to get a Shinryu clear as a pick up without a linkshell willing to help, but you were going to be shouting a hell of a lot longer for a clear party than you would for a farm party for that fight.

A: There's nothing sudden about it. MMO players are always reluctant to teach people something they've been farming for a while, especially if it's in any way complicated.
B: You think that started with FFXIV? Nope.

Early days of CoP had its own participation difficulties. Typically you needed someone with experience to get that done and the difficulty,(part of which was getting there) even after the first couple of nerfs, was as such that most did not want to.

It was so bad that people pressured one another into specific set ups just to clear story content. Sorry, but that was terrible.

The first 4 normal alex are easy and newbies are welcomed by all. Good luck finding that level of courtesy and helpfulness with even alex savage 1 let alone the other 3
