I've made a few guides to help new players get started in Final Fantasy 14.

I separated them into small parts so that they can be navigated easily while still providing the information you will need to move forward in this game.

You can find the first guide, which speaks about how to level quickly, here.

I will update his thread weekly as new guides are released. Feel free to leave your comments and and questions here and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

Hope you find this useful!

Hey all!

Part 2 - The Basics of Dungeons is now available!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-poORTb6QQQ

In it you will find tips and explanations on the way dungeons work as well as some interface features you should know about to help you complete them!

As always you can leave your comments or questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!

The next guide will discuss Jobs and Cross-Class abilities.

Hope you find this useful!

Forgot to mention that if you have suggestions for future videos let me know. I try to cover as much as I can per subject but I do miss things here and there.

Here's a suggestion if you haven't covered it - maybe a bit on general game etiquette? XIV is a kind and welcoming community but people who are new may not know some of the little patterns we've set up. Everything from shouting the name of Hunt NMs when you come across them (nobody wants to spend 30 minutes searching for White Joker) to tipping crafters, or at least offering to tip, even if they've said they'd craft something for you for free. (Critical around the time you hit the AF weapon and need to ask for melds. I always offer to do it for free but you can sneak a tip in there anyway and that's an instant leap to my friend's list.)

I know this is less about gameplay and more about culture, but that's critical if someone is going to feel like they're a welcome part of the game, too.

What I expected: Meh, yet another person thinks they know more than everyone else, putting out a boring video that rambles on and on about their pet topics and really just confuses things.

What I got: Entertaining, well presented information, including some items that everyone really should know and rarely does (e.g. the hate markers).

Good job. And I love Catwho's suggestion about game etiquette, that seems like it would fit right in to the series.

Was smiliar to me.

What I expected: Mrhappy for noobs.
What I got: MTQCapture for noobs.

So it's definitely good for beginners.

I do like the work done on these. They're thought out and professionally done.

Sidenote, Also a fan of MTQCapture.

I will want to see a couple more of these done though before I settle in on any feedback.

For sure, I'm glad the video is receiving such positive feedback thus far. After finishing the concept of the next few videos I look forward to sharing them.

Thank you for your replies and just something off topic.

Been playing since alpha testing of this game and I still enjoyed your guide, straightforward and pertinent tips for new players imo.

Part 2.8 - Extra Unlockables is now up!

As always I hope this is useful!

Hm. There's no mention of the challenge log or treasure hunting in that video. I know you talked about the challenge log in an earlier video but it's still odd not to see it even mentioned in a video specifically about unlockables.

I wanted this video to be about things I don't believe are required to level quickly. As for the treasure log I just simply forgot about it. I tried to cover my mistakes if I made any by linking the list of unlockables aswell so hopefully I will be forgiven >.<

Your video series is very accurate and to the point. It's very well made and I love the pacing as well. It's just a little hard to hear so maybe boosting the audio a little in audacity would help a lot. Well done sir.

I agree about the audio, I'm in the middle of making the next episode and listening to the voice over I can tell its too quiet. I'll try to make some adjustments.

On that note, the video will be up tomorrow once I get the footage placed the way I want it and do some light editing.

Curious questions. Who would find class guides useful in this forum?
#21 Oct 26 2015 at 4:32 AM Rating: Excellent
I could probably write them for bard or scholar or summoner at this point, but I'm totally clueless as to how the rotation on most of the melee DPS jobs is now, especially at 60. Since I'll eventually drag them all to 60 (for, um, fashion reasons) I think a guide would be fairly helpful.

I wrote a NIN guide on my FC's forums that I could copy here. The problem with class guides is really keeping them up to date.

So I just got back from a short vacation in Arizona. Not done with part 4, but I did make this video to fill the gap until I finish it.

Nice video. One thing I noticed though is that you kept saying "job" instead of "class" when referring to the crafting classes. You may want to try being more consistent about that.

Its a bad habit. I still call enmity threat, damage dealers dps, etc etc. Issues with different game lingo.
