So, the game has its first new truly new battle content system that isn't either just a larger dungeon or a hardcore raid's normal mode.

To those of you who have played this content, what do you think?

My reactions will come later. Don't get off work until 5, and then tonight is Destiny night. If we had a "mixed emotions" smiley, I'd use it here.

I was going to reply in the other thread but that leader was also not happy because they dont have a house. But what really made him mad Is he can not recruit anyone because they dont have a house. But too make it worse he was loosing members to FC with airships.

Nash, please post about housing in the Housing thread.

Or, start a new thread about how FCs are being harmed by the lack of housing.

From the 2 hours I've done it with FC members, it feels it's basically hunts in a section of sea of clouds where everyone gets benefit due to the optional objectives that can be done rather than "zerg this thing."

Aside the SBing, it seems the ilvl150 gear is definitely going to be most useful for gathering a lot of points, since on Easy it seems that and the 180 sets were fairly common, on Hard 210s were actually fairly common but the secondary and tertiary stats were ..extremely random lol. Even seen a piece with both Skill and Spell speed on it.

It wasn't bad for a little while, but staying in there the full 90 minutes got kind of boring.

Didn't get a chance to try it out tonight. Smiley: frown Didn't have time for much of anything in-game, really.

Though I did finish the quest to unlock the quest for Void Ark!

I ran easy mode twice last night, stayed in the full time. Here is a brief overview of what's up.

Easy mode, costs 7000 gill for 10 tickets. You make way more than that while inside if you gather just a few times. Don't know about hard mode yet, gonna do that tonight with the FC.

So, you get in, run with your party to attune to three nodes so you can fly. You have about 6 or 7 objectives that you only need to do 3 of to complete the mission. The missions are simple (kill this, investigate this, mine this) and are complete within a few minutes (10-15 max). Upon completion you get 40 esoterics Smiley: eek. Yeah, broken, I know. Technically you can leave after this with no penalty, but I find that most everyone stays around for the next part.

Next part reminds me so much of early days FFXI it is uncanny. First off, and this is BIG, you SHARE the instance with several other groups!!! You will see other parties battling things like you used to in FFXI. Idea is, you fly around the map looking for stuff. You can change jobs on the fly. The caves are apparently where people head off to to find the NMs, but there are over-world NMs too. People call out stuff like you would hunts.

In easy I've seen things ranked I II III IV and V and sometimes a IV where the I is really small and superscripted. Not sure what that is. Anyway the IV are like A rank hunts (Alecytron, etc) and V are like S rank hunts (Nandi). Reason I use those two is because they use those character models (at least in the ones I went into).

The battles are tough. You get three parties beating up stuff in the cave it can get hectic. And things just spawn on top of you. Imagine three or four parties of eight fighting an S rank and three A ranks right on top of one another. It gets like that. Its fun!

Anyway, kill the enemy, chest drops. Bronze, silver, gold. Seems random with some higher chance for better chests the higher up you go. I've got a bronze from a V and a silver from a II, so I guess anything is possible. I have not seen gold yet in either of my attempts, so I can assume it is crazy rare. I've overall maybe seen 100 bronze chests and 15 silver, so you get the picture.

So you get an item, goes into your inventory. Bronze drops 150 stuff (random glamour, stats), silver drops 180 stuff (again random) and 210 is dropped from gold (and coincidentally the only stuff I need).

So you get 150 and 180 junk and wonder what to do. Don't worry, there are guys you can trade them to to get these brass coins you can use to trade for rare crafting mats, crystals/clusters, and materia (yeah the price on materia is gonna drop like a rock soon). A 150 item gets you 1 coin, a 180 item gets you 2 coins. That I can verify. Don't know how you get steel coins, maybe its for 210 stuff. I've got about 30 of them running easy twice now. 99 gets you the pegasus. So that's my goal for now. But its a blast and you spiritbond quick in there.

And you can switch over to miner and botanist and farm some stuff, or fish. I've been botanizing cloud cotton bolls. They sell ok.

210 is 4 iirc, I didn't try trading it in yet since I actually got a bunch of OP 210 pieces that I'll hold onto.

Also: You CAN glamour over the items even if it comes with its own set of glamour, you can even dispel it, but due to being pre-glamoured, you can't glamour the aetherial piece over something else.

How rare are the gold chests in hard mode? Also what do the enemies rank in there?

It's very similar, they just have a ton more HP and the spawn rate seems a bit higher, lots of "II"s I noticed though but we've done more Hard runs than Easy/Normal so we're doing more normals today to compare. Since the one who logs down all our loots and such isn't awake just yet so don't have the exact numbers, but gold chests did seem a bit more common but the stats weren't all too great aside for the BRD/MCH body and BLM/SMN body (though the acc makes its questionable lol.)

So I'd say it's a bit more common in Hard, especially from asking some other people in LSs I'm in that are doing it, they also seem to see more gold chests, but also a **** ton of bronze lol. So yeah I'd say it's still RNG, but the 210s we've gotten from Hard have largely been a lot better than the ones from Easy. We're focusing on Thordan today also so once they're all conscious again I can see the exact numbers.

Unless you mean enemies in general, yeah - Generally same I-V ranks, Star ranks I seen IIs and such. I play on Japanese client so the tagging is a bit different text wise.

Thanks! Great information! I've been hearing that some of the 210 drops are better than the savage pieces in the secondary stats. Just depends on luck, tbh.

Yeah, the drops can be superior then throw in Thordan's weapons which while are a few stats less, are actually superior simply due to the weapon damage. (BRD and MCH got the luckiest on those drops.)

Bad news Valk: We don't have access to HM yet. The Bumblebee and Powerglide are both out looking to find it. Bee didn't find it Tuesday night.

Yep - Purely random if it decides to unlock too, which is why we sent all our airships out before the update so the day of itd return and hopefully unlock lol. Our Excalipoor unlocked it.

Did another Hard Mode and a few Normal -

Main difference aside the HP sponging is the tracks spawned S Ranks far more on HM, whereas the "unlucky" spawn is IV and Vs more in normal.

We did a hard mode and an amazing 210 healer body dropped. I won it, and then a pair of healer gloves dropped, so I passed for our other healer (Evebont.)

We probably ought to come up with actual loot rules...

So the HM is essentially the same except more gold chests spawn? Is the content harder or about the same as normal?

Actually, we were in normal mode as you guys pointed out. I am really interested to try HM when we unlock it.

Loot rules I've come across from the premades I've been in are need on 210 items, greed on 180 and 150. But since we seem to be war, 2 bard, 2 heal, 2 caster, 1 monk (at least our setup last night) in instances where the first drop is healer, for example, its a competitive need lot between the two healers on the first item, then if a second drops the other one who lost the first roll gets the second item. So sort of how we did it last night, except the only difference is that everyone greeds 180 and 150 pieces. Seems fair.

Finally did this last night... normal mode. We're expecting to have hard mode unlocked maybe by Sunday.

My impression... a bit underwhelmed. It was fun at first, and because we did it as a FC, it was entertaining throughout. But for the most part, it was kind of mind-numbing.

I think I'd like it more if chests mainly dropped from NMs that had to be found or spawned under various conditions. Or if mobs had unusual linking patterns, requiring parties to be good with crowd control. Or have more objectives that need to be cleared.

The infrastructure is there for something good, but I don't think it's there yet. In the meantime, I understand why the development team shifted its personnel and only created 1.5 new dungeons... considering you can get 40 esos per normal-mode Exploration, I think far fewer people will be running experts in the future.

It's the same in general setup, but the "fresh tracks" (I think it's called in english) will spawn star rank mobs a lot more (likely guaranteed but we may have just been EXTREMELY lucky lol) which means far more gold chests. But they're harder mostly due to the HP bloat, so say the buffalo one that AoE stuns/paralyzes will essentially lock your group down and if you happen to have a 2nd star mob up..it's game over lol.

Normal you'll get IV and V ranked mobs much more than you would star mobs from what I noticed. So it can be harder depending on what spawns and where (mostly use the SWish island as its the biggest and more concentrated lol)..but for the most part it's about the same overall difficulty, you'll just definitely want to make sure you're going in with geared people if you want to stand a chance against the bloat. You'll probably have other groups in there too but not as many as you would on normal (since it's much quicker but less star mobs..so kind of a trade off.)

Well I did the exploration mission this weekend, Tesee is back. It was pretty cool but again added nothing new to the game. It felt like SE answer to Dynamis and all the farming. It is cool you can do a few different thing when you go in. Open wold is nice. Once we did our initial 3 things we joined up with other groups and just pulled high level mobs and if low level spawned we just massacred them.

I liked it allot but I think it might get old fast because it is just allot of farming once the initial stuff done.

As much as I hate to say it, it really is a loot pinata. It's not even really disguised as anything more substantial at this point.

I do have confidence though that issues with this content can be fixed. SE was smart to put these areas in instances & separate them from the full open world.
