Yeah, long as they didn't touch the algorithms which messed it up COMPLETELY last time.

Yep it doesn't seem like they did, having no problems so far. But that is probably because I'm still using it the "old way". The recruitment option - haven't use that yet.

Also, hehe already been grouped with someone who shouldn't be a mentor :P. That was fast.

Edit: Well the "Role Waiting List" could actually make queue's pretty long. DPS might have hell. As healer I'm in a long line.

This vitality/shield oath paladin is happy about the tank changes. About to log in and knock out a lunchtime dungeon.

Those two new dungeons are really fun. As I healer I feel like the bosses go out of their way to kill me specifically. I love it.

Hmm, I'd love to get in on some of this new content, but there are over 800 people in the queue right now. I haven't seen numbers like that since ARR launch.

...and a half an hour later, I'm still not logged in.

...and maintenance. I suppose I'll go play BloPs3 instead.

I'm thinking server issues are causing large numbers not to be able to log in, and them all trying at once. Not so much that the server is full and there are 1200 people waiting in line to get in.

I logged in and did Lost City of Ampador HM during lunch.

People who don't like the game will complain it was too easy, but I found the fights to be engaging and the dungeon didn't feel too long. Most people in my FC were saying the Antitower is even better. So that's good, sounds like we won't have another Neverreap in this patch. :)

Looking forward to more action tonight.

The difficulty of this patch is kind of off, so I won't be surprised if they actually buff some stuff rather than nerf. Anti Tower was way too easy, that's why people prefer it aside the nostalgia factor. the final trash pull is harder than any of the bosses in there.

Either way, seems people are slamming through this content a lot quicker than previous updates, considering there's documented errors in a few content, I won't be surprised if a hotfix actually ups some checks on these instances. Midas was disappointing purely because the difficulty doesn't match being locked out for a week reward wise, but I guess we'd go through it even quicker if we were let free.

I like more mechanic driven fights but I can definitely see Amdapor City being the auto disband/leave dungeon when people get it in roulettes simply because it takes paying attention unlike AntiTower.

All in all, I like the tank changes mostly for the fact my combos aren't destroyed if I stance dance.

I also liked Ampador better.

And I also hear people saying the difficulty seems low, but I am also hearing more that people are just having more fun with these fights. Seems like a successful patch so far.

I finally got in, apparently someone kicked the hamster wheel or something. The only new battle content I did was the the first new Alex fight. I think the devs may have been high when they designed that one. Turn into a gorilla to punch bombs away, and then turn into a bird to avoid a ground stomp attack, all while fighting a goblin that that keeps transforming into a giant Hyde like goblin creature.

Enjoyed both dungeons, especially Antitower. Haven't hit Alexander or Sephirot yet.

Vath quests finally pushed me to level Paladin to 51. I hear it's more fun to play in Heavensward so I'm giving it a shot. I've come to the realization that I just don't like the way XIV's Dark Knight plays, which sucks, cause it's always been one of my favorite Final Fantasy Jobs.

That's kind of how I'm feeling about bard. I liked it a lot better before the Wanderer's Minuet change, but now I don't like needing to worry about interruptions. Think I may resume leveling ninja again in my free time.

I'm not a fan of post-WM Bard either. The freedom and movement was the main draw of the Job for me (and a lot of other players from the sounds of it)

I personally don't mind it, since it brought overall a lot more damage to the job. I just hate the cast aspect simply because if you're casting, as BRD or any other support (supposed), it's to be casting songs, for example the entire line of BRD songs in any MMO, including XI, that isn't present here.

Honestly though, I kind of like that BRD is rooted, because it annoyed the ever living **** out of me watching BRDs run figure 8s and jumping everywhere when it was completely unnecessary to your playstyle, especially because despite that they're one of the FIRST PEOPLE to get hit by every avoidable AoEs.

I've given bard a really long opportunity to grow on me since WM. And I honestly don't mind the job being rooted -- I was never one of those figure-8 bards that I've heard so much about. I just don't like that the casting time is so long. I also don't like that I can't use my cooldowns during casts. And I also don't like the weird wooshing/hissing sound that my arrow casts make.

I just really don't like Wanderer's Minuet. And while I don't mind being more rooted, I think I've also come to understand that I do like some movement better than no movement. That's actually why I love tanking so much -- being a good paladin requires more on adaptation and situational awareness (which tends to require some movement) rather than standing in one spot, cycling a rotation and only moving to dodge.

That's why I'm thinking I'll resume ninja. I'm always torn between drg and nin, but from what people have said I think I'll ultimately enjoy ninja more.

Yeah, MCH also suffered from it just to keep things "Equal"..eh.

As an aside, if you try Midas, do not believe ANYONE who says the following:

Midas 1: Fausts need to die at the same time. It's a time based fight actually.
Midas 2: 2 cannons is solo soak, 1 cannon is party soak. 3 cannons is enrage (no such thing) Party soak is 2 cannons, tank soak is 1 cannon, drill is spread out.
Midas 3: You need a tank to go in with a healer for poison prison. In reality, you need the healer to stand on the grate, no tank, no dps.
Midas 4: The adds after the boss uses Execution need to die one at a time. No, you need to get them down ASAP or you'll have a very bad day.

I wonder if this is some Official Forum or Reddit trolling, or if people actually like making things harder than it needs to be.

Remember now, it was originally going to be harder(Midas) but during development phase, Yoshida had it nerfed.

Just speaking for myself but both are a bit hard to heal in, which is fine for me. For Antitower, esuna gets a bit of the spotlight.

Edit: quoted wrong person haha.

Did LCoA HM with a completely new group. I love it. No, I LOVE it, visually it's the most exciting dungeon since... um... ever. Smiley: nod

And I HATEHATEHATE the recast circles. They make it very much harder to see the icon on the button while it's recharging. I was hoping that if I disabled the recast timer in the character menu (recast counts look too much like MP/TP costs) that the clock sweep would be on the full square button, but NOOOOOOO!!!!!

I think that's the first thing I've ever REALLY HATED in an FFXIV update.

I think the recast circles would be better if they were a different color than white, honestly. That's what makes it visually jarring for me.

Yup, tons of positive reception for this patch. I am very excited about getting through this chunk of storyline. Heard nothing but great things so far. This weekend is my five-year wedding anniversary though, and I have tons of freelance work, so the story will have to wait. Will have time in game tonight though for some dungeons and midas.

The largest grip I heard about this patch came from a band that hasn't had a relevant song since the early 2000's *laugh* That melodrama has actually been entertaining.

Powerman 5000: "Yo SE! You stole our song!"
Yoshida & Soken: "Who are you again?"

Relevant or not it doesn't change the fact that Soken blatantly ripped it off. Within seconds I was like "this sounds exactly like that Powerman 5000 song", and only a day after the patch a ton of other people touched on it too. I guess not everyone played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, lol

In the end I don't think it's a big deal anyway. I think Soken's stuff is lame though, bring back Uematsu, SE.

Yeah, as a composer I agree with Soken's statement in general, but when it comes to the western world, it tends to be a bit more.."in your face" if something is similar, even if it's an homage, people will be VERY quick to say you rip it off. I mean, despite how much love Stairway to Heaven got..people seem to forget a very, very, very big factor about that song, but will immediately state any NEW song that sounds like it, is a rip off.

And that bias is exactly why you think it's a ripoff.

Before they even made a post about it, I called out exactly why Sephriot's theme was Industrial Rock to my GF and FC. And honestly, attributing it to Powerman 5000, who's very band was a cheap ripoff of his older brother's band, as oppose to Ramnstein, NIN, and other famous work is really shallow minded. There's litterally one repeated cord progression that could be mistaken for World's Collide. That's it. The voice actually could be mistaken for a lot of other Industrial rock vocalist. Heck, even KMFDM did the raspy thing on some of their not-so-famous songs.

So yes, calling it a ripoff is a shallow, BS claim. PWM5K made a dumb comment to gripe about it, and that's about where it ends, really. If you REALLY want to analyze just how similar or different the song is, too late. It's already been done. Guess what the professional musician who's also a fan of PWM5K had to say?
