What WoW looked like back then - ALPHA WoWFollow

#1 Apr 13 2014 at 5:40 PM Rating: Good
Since a lot of people seem to have a great interest in WoW Alpha (not WoD, although people have interest in that to) i created a video with loads of images that were related to Alpha/pre-alpha in WoW. These images are really interesting it shows how far Blizzard has come with their game. Look at those UI's... and those character models. Did anyone ever play WoW in the Alpha before? I am just curious about WoW's alpha and i love to see how far they have gotten with their game.

Here is the video with the Alpha images:

wow
memories!

it took me a while to decide to get to the island (pic 1 - I made it with few fatigue seconds left and only one death) and probably a home server to get to the watery graveyard (pic 2). sure this game has changed...

nice collection.

This is an awesome video. I love seeing the game back in the days. I refer to it as Vanilla WoW and yes I did play! I think what they have done to the game is cool; but I miss the simplicity of this game. It was way harder back then. The UI's now make it so easy for new players to adapt and fit right in. I liked when it took some good skill and great teamwork to kill bosses.

Some of those places look cooler than anything that was finally implemented in vanilla... is there anywhere with hovering tree? I can't recall anywhere like that...

I remember about 70% of those scenes. Good memories. The original WoW (vanilla WoW) was in my jaded opinion probably the best from a game play perspective. We have a lot more toys now. We have better graphics now. In many ways the game is more complex now. But that first version really required more from us as players, and the 40 man raids were the best raids. Yeah they were a pain to organize and many players never saw the inside of a 40 man raid, but they really were the best.

It is unfortunate that it was (and remains) utterly impractical to maintain the original classic game. Were it possible to do so, I'd still raid my level 60 mage once a week. That remains my favorite era in WoW.
