My friend had that shield for a while as the only instance loot that he ever got (and I kept having to hear him whine about it for ever)
That's good though, glad you are having fun. Don't worry about the instance tank loot, once you hit 70 there's a whole smörgåsbord of instances to get gear in.
And for tanking accomplishments, you can have the whole keg of rum mate.
Don't know how much is in that keg though.

nice, I like the T6 helm... makes you look much less like a robot.
I wish, at least for tanks, that Tier 6 was an actual helm and not a halo =/ But, I doubt they'd make the different spec sets look different from each other. Oh well, I'll probably never see it anyway. Big gratz to you though Dilbrt!

i tanked reg ramps last night on dial up. wich wouldnt be as bad cept it's 28.8kbps max. some how no one died till the dragon. wich was just a ret pally so no big loss there : P

just started Kara last night on Muralimohan. it was mostly a pug group, so not the best. we didn't have a priest or lock and it was about 2am so we died a couple times on moroes after killing attumen and called it a a night. still though, first time in Kara, so kinda cool.
I have now tanked my first successful heroic (Hellfire Ramparts). We were death free until Nazan. (My first try at heroic ramps failed at Nazan as 2 of our DPSers couldn't figure out that standing in fire is bad.)

Made me sad to see this thread get drawn back into the shadows, so thought I'd put a small update.
I haven't gone on a raid in a while since some guild drama and an inevitable disband. But I have gotten the urge to raid more lately and called in a favor from a friend with some connections. I got a solid spot as OT in a well progressed guild 2-3 nights a week. So I'm really excited to run Kara again and finish ZA on my Pally.

Had a few posts in here recently, but it's been a pretty good start to this year for my Paladin. Went into Grull's Lair this week and finally got my Tier 4 Leggings, woot! That makes 3/5 now. Still waiting for my damn helm token to drop when I'm there on the right toon. Prince has dropped the Paladin token every time I've been there, with my Lock >.< Then I get the Lock token when my Paladin is there ...
Also had one of the most gut-wrenching fights of my life this week, and of all bosses, it was Prince. We had a couple bad abyssal drops, and our DPS being mostly melee, were hurting pretty bad. But, we sucked it up and just healed through the best we could. After phase 2 ended we started losing DPS till we were finally at around 10% with only myself, our main healer, and 2 caster DPS left (Mage and Elemental Shaman). At roughly 8% the 2 DPS went oom, so I started letting go with everything I had, even setting fly a few Hammers of Wrath where I could find an opening. Luckily my healer was a Paladin, so he had plenty of mana, and slowly I dwindled Prince's health down with the Mage wanding and the Shaman casting as often as mana regen would allow.
That was the longest 8% of a fight ever, and I blew everything I could, but we killed him! By god, if there was ever a time to have been recording a boss fight, that would have been it. Too bad I wasn't :(

Recently started playin my pally again. (Kuresta on BDF) Currently holy but i want to go prot sooooo bad, lol. just can't figure out how to get decent gear. Got my Ornamented Veng chest and broke 10k hp 10k mana 15k armor unbuffed. Trying to heal in kara and pick up tanking gear from there. Still waiting for a kara healing mace to drop, lol after uncountable attempts neither mace has dropped for me. so here I am healing TK and SSC with my Essence Focuser :( oh well anyone have any better ideas to get tank gear that heal stuff and ask to roll on those drops?

um, can't really help w/ the tank gear, but if you're exalted w/ sha'tar you can easily replace your essence focuser w/ the mace from sha'tar rep. might be more appropriate to your progression.... or the mace from heroic SL.

It doesn't supply relevant information to be stickied. Stickys on class forums better be helpful, these aren't and we already have 3 stickies. Only extenuating circumstances will let them grant a 4th sticky, and we are saving that for a possible ret guide in the future.

its coming along. i'm actually pretty close to ready to put it up for advice. its just been slow going because our trining schedule has been pretty intense.... hence the reason most of my posts are from my phone like this one... i'll put up what i have later today (might be our first short day :-D) and see what you guys think i might improve.
While raiding kara for the 2nd time on my pally, our guild managed to get past shade, where i happened to find one of the books that summon a little healer chick to your side randomly. Well during the illhoof fight do to my constant spamming i managed to have 3 of these little ladies up at once, which proc'd much laughter on my part. It was fun :).

My guilds done quite a bit of raiding this week, We downed gruul with eaze, and then the group im in for kara cleared it in 1 night, and then we entered ZA and did 3 of the bosses, missed the last 2 and dragonhawk, and we are going to attempt mag tonight, and ive gotten quite a few of healing pieces in the past week, around 6.
Finally Dinged 70 on my Pally Guston :)
After taking a break and levelling an undead rogue to 61 I am actually loving being a pally again. Levelled from 68.5 to 70 as holy and I’m not ever going holy again. I just don’t enjoy it.
My challenge is going to be making a good pally tank. At the moment I need to work on my gear. I have about 460 defence with a 5k mana pool and just over 10K health. I’m grinding aldor rep for the chest piece which will put me over 490 defence.
I’m not going to be tanking any heroics with that alone I still have yet to run most of the outland instances, and am dying to get the boot reward from the mana tombs escort quest as it bugged the last time I did it and a GM said sorry too bad :(
Now my current build includes reckoning for the sake of grinding and from what I've read I'm safe to keep reckoning for all heroics until kara (due to the parry swing timer issue) is that correct?
Other than that my other goals include levelling my mining from a crappy 240 odd and doing some dailies so I can get my epic flyer. Rep grinds are also on the cards for inscriptions and shields etc so that should take me many many months due to my play schedule.
here is my armory if anyone wants to comment and maybe suggest what instances I could tank at present and any heroics if possible in current gear. Sorry for baffling on I cant wait to go home from work and play :D

Well the chest you can get from Mech is better than the chest from aldor. I would shop around a little, check out thels' guide and see where you can get the defense from other places. The trinket from SLabs is a good start.
Honestly, your best bet is to just get your reputation to revered before touching heroics with all the factions. Odds are you will get most of the regular gear you need and it should definitely put you on the right path.

Got invited by the MT to run kara friday as lawlret DPS (i was pretty damn suprised). Pretty exciting as it was my first time in there. killed Maiden, Oz, Curator and stoped at Shade of Aran as we only had one lock in the party AND people kept moving. apperently i pulled my weight, as i got invited to run Gruul Sunday. only our mage tank wasnt up to the challenge and after the first 3 went down, our mage soon followed and we had to reset or wipe (yay bubble . . ).
so after that i get reinvited to finish Kara.
We downed Nightbane on our second try, first try was bad luck and possitioning want wrong.
Then Shade on the first try.
Chess event got bugged after we beat it and got no loot.
and we Downed prince on the first try.
