Question about crit ratingFollow

#1 Feb 11 2011 at 9:58 PM Rating: Decent
I've been reading a few guides about Rogue optimization and they always says crit rating is one of the less useful stats.

Why??

Crit do a lot more damage so why isn't it good to make it happen more often?

Is there something in the crit mechanic that I should know?

Thanks

Read the sticky.

Agi also has crit included in it, so it's inherently worth far more, as it also gives AP.

Yeah, I know that agi is way better than crit rating but I was talking about the other stats like expertise, mastery, haste and hit.

On elitistjerks they say that crit rating is the primary candidate for reforging.
I still don't understand why it's good to crit less often.

Because other stats provide substantially more DPS.

Haste increases not only how often you hit, but how fast you regenerate energy.

Hit is needed so you can actually hit mobs.

Expertise is needed so your abilities don't get dodged, even at the hit cap (reading my post about this stat in the sticky would be helpful if you don't understand how the stat works).

Mastery (depends a lot on your spec) usually fulfills a damage role that isn't capable of being filled by other DPS stats.

It's really just how the other stats stack up and are used by rogues. Hunters, for example, value crit much more than haste.
