Evening all, since I have capped my VP doing heroics, I thought I can do some arenas. I have not done arenas for a very long period of time. So I have a few questions and hope you can assist me.

I have 3 season 10 gears running a few BGs for honor and made a few PVP blue res gears. What kind of enchants and types of gems do you recommend.

Also besides the basic spells like penance & flash & Mana Burn, is there any other spells that I need to do. I am currently sitting at 2135 res.

I have just started arenas yesterday and I want to learn more on how to heal in arenas. Anything useful would be helpful for me for a start.

My current combo is a BM hunter and doing a 2v2.

Lastly, how do you handle a frost mage who keeps freezing you all the time as I am not able to dispel. Its like I am in a Ice Block. Sorry I don't play a mage before.

Thank You

Frost Mages are the current FOTM. Very tough if played well. They have tremendous utility ( CC, interrupts, spellsteal ) and can damage you with uncanny rapidity.

With your set up, I'm not certain what you can do. I'd suggest having your Hunter force them to Iceblock or trinket through traps, thus blowing a CD, and perhaps making your Priestly life a bit easier. However, I am by no means a expert. Hopefully, one of the more knowledgeable arena types will see your post and respond. Good luck.

Edit; forgot to include spellsteal, which, ironically, can be used against you by stealing your HoT's or buffs.

Offensive dispels and DPS are the marks of pro arena disc priests.

Also never forget to hump that pillar.

Well, I'm no pro. As horsemouth said, try to stay out of line of sight when mages cast, stay near pillars. There's also the trinket (or human racial) to break you out occasionally.

You'll want to stack more resilience than you currently have, so for now, gem/enchant for it. Intellect is always good. Spirit and some hit are also considered useful.

For you and your team mate, bubble, penance, flash heal, PoM, even renew on the move, dispel, pain suppression, power infusion, leap of faith may have uses too. For your opponents, mana burn (for healers), dispel, mass dispel (for pally bubbles), fear (interrupt), mind spike, mind blast.

Can we use mind spike and mind blast, won;t that be alot of mana going off. I did a few matches and I wouldn't say its all that bad as I am still learning to do arenas.

So sorry I was away and couldn't get back to you guys. Thank you so much for your replies and I appreciate the gesture.

Yes I am running and hiding. Tried using mana burn and MC on healer. Seems to work but I am still learning atm.

Cheers all :)

Mind Control isn't really something you want to be using in an Arena, for a few reasons. Long cast time, defenseless in the middle of it, can only auto-attack, etc.

Stick with mana burning and more traditional CCs if you have access to them. Polymorph and Hex is always a fan favorite.

You only DPS with Smite/HF if you know you can't get spell locked as losing access to your heals sucks.

HF/smite or mind spike/blast - it depends on your spec and glyphs. But as basic, the shadow spells are 1.5 sec casts that do more damage. HF/smite are better for AA spec with glyphs, but consider how easy it is to get and maintain those 5 stacks in arena...

Sorry for getting back to you late as I was out of town. Thank you so much for your help. I am thinking of going smite heals but we just started and looking not too bad for a start. Thank you so much.

Cheers
