I'm not very good at writing macros in truth I suck

Does anyone have a macro that would combine in order Shadowstep, Stealth, and either Backstab or Ambush

I can get the shadowstep and attack alright, but every time I've tried to add in Stealth, nothing happens.

Likely because when you shadowstep close to something you want to attack, you enter combat.
and you cannot enter stealth in combat.

so, stealth first, then shadowstep + ambush
or when in combat, shadowstep + backstab

Still having an issue. I can get the stealth and shadowstep to chain, but trying to add backstab or ambush has no effect. I wind up standing invisibly behind the target but being told he's "out of range". If I was any closer, we could share a air of boots.

Is this the problem you're having? Or this?

Something like:

/cast !Stealth
/cast [stealth] Shadowstep
/stopcasting
/cast [stealth] Ambush; Backstab

?

I'm thinking that's not going to chain properly. I suck at macros too btw...

What works so far is:

/cast !Stealth
/stopcasting
/cast Shadowstep
/stopcasting
Ambush; Backstab

This is what leaves me behind the target and invisible, with the message "Out of range"

I don't know why, but I didn't think you added the '/cast" for the actual attack. I'll try it.

I'm not a rogue, but in general, you need /cast for abilities. If a prior spell triggers the global cooldown, you can't use another /cast after it. To cast another spell after the global cooldown is triggered, you must use a castsequence, and do another keypress. Also note, if the first spell has a timeout value (doesn't look like the case here), multiple /cast statements will cause the macro to stop at the spell that is not ready.

Yeah, you need to preface an ability with either /cast or /use. In my limited experience writing my own macros, both seem to work fine.
