So I was wondering... other than Thunderclap and Cleave, how do you hold threat on groups? I am level 38, and depending on what the dps go after there is not much I can do to hold hate.

This talent is vital for AOE aggro management.

My plate nugget (Gnome Warrior, teehee) doesn't have aggro issues, unless someone unloads everything onto one target before I even get in range. Just let them tank it if they want it so badly.

Pretty much what Maz said. Another thing that I still think helps is Devastating/Sundering all targets along with Rend and TC (I've been deciding whether or not I want to keep my one glyph... can't remember the name... where when you sunder/devastate (if you have the glyph with Devastate sundering as well), it sunders a second target as well). I'm a bit out of practice, but the last few dungeons I've been running on my little one, there hasn't been any issues.

I will have to look into Devastate/Sunder. I do not have Devastate yet, so I will see what I can do. I analyzed myself a bit, and I do not think I was the problem. I was in Dire Maul as a level 37 Warrior, and I had level 46 DPS with me. I think that was why they were pulling off me.

ALWAYS skull mark something. At least, that way, when they blow it up while you're trying to set up your AoE, you only have one thing to taunt.

Yeah Poldy... that is the problem. I was skull marking, they decided that was going to be my target so they used their dps to kill other stuff... it was a weird group. The next group I ran with was fine.

That's when I don't bother taunting and let them tank it. I started leveling another warrior on a different server, and it's just horrible how people want to just keep pulling more when I know my limit.

I guess what surprises me is the idea that pulling threat on a mob = doing great dps. I actually had folks tell me that I was a bad tank because I could not hold threat off of folks that were 8 levels above me that were attacking mobs before I could actually get the mobs attention.

I suppose that is a great way to increase your total damage done. The key is to deal damage before anyone else so that you can maximize your time?

Yeah, you'll burn out if you don't take on a more relaxed approach to tanking (not saying you don't already).

If people pull aggro, let them have it. What's the worst that'll happen? They kick you and you have to go back into that instant queue.

Of course, I'm not suggesting that you don't do a good job at it, I'm just saying that taking on more responsibility than is needed is bad. Bad for your mental and physical well-being.

If someone pulls aggro through your optimal AOE rotation (Rend, Thunder Clap and Cleave at those levels), it's not your fault, it's theirs. They may not see it like that, but that's because they're hardcore morons. Brush them off, leave, or (my favorite) roll out the drama llama for some funnies.

Just never let it get under your skin. You will burn out so fast.

Maz, I want you to know that from now on I will always laugh at people making a big deal out of that sort of thing based solely on the fact that you called it: "Rolling out the drama llama."

That is awesome.

I agree. I believe I'll start saying that in the groups if they have an issue...

"You're completely rolling out the drama llama, man... If you have an issue, here's a tissue..."

This could be the beginning of a wonderful piece of poetry.

And yeah, the drama llama option is the best. I've had some fun PUG runs where someone started moaning about something and instead of wasting my time trying to explain it to the guy, I just rolled with it and trolled him so hard.

Did you try asking them to target the skull? I've found the following to be pretty effective:

"While the skull still lives, I shall not be taunting anything off of anyone but the healer. Get with the kill order or enjoy your repair bills."

You know Poldy, I may have to tap into my inner ****** and give that a go.
