I am going to get WoW again when I get school money coming up this August. I haven't played in over 5 years. Boy have I missed so much. I was wondering.. I love hunters, and I love humans. Would it be feasible to start a human hunter? Any suggestions? I have played all races and classes dating back to the BC..but haven't played since. Open to any and all Suggestions

Get the new trial offer and play various races/class combinations up to 20. That should let you get a bit of a feel for things, how they have changed and what you like.

Yes, Humans can be Hunters now, so that is certainly possible.

You shouldn't have much trouble. They've streamlined the game a LOT in the past 4-5 years. Take stats, for instance. Realistically, any piece that has more of your class' main attribute (Int, Str, or Agi) is going to be better. And now Str and Stam variables are tied, generally, to the ilvl of the item. Because these are so heavily weighted, you are only ever gearing via sidegrades if they are the same ilvl with different secondary stats. This is rarely something you have to care about when leveling.

The second major change is that you are forced into a single talent tree at level 10, but get some very strong bonuses for doing so. I dunno if they rebalanced them, but a year ago when I last played these abilities were usually HEAVILY overpowered for the level.

Another thing is the Dungeon FInder tool. Now, you can go LFG using a cross-server group finder that will automatically construct a group and then port you to the dungeon. This makes keeping ahead of the gear curve easy, because you can always be queued while questing. And being ahead is nice, because they upped enemy damage by quite a bit.

Also, combined with their efforts to increase damage output by healers and tanks, they are fully viable while leveling. Combined with super fast queue times for dungeons, they actually level faster than DPS do now.

Oh, and for some Hunter specific notes.

Hunters no longer use mana. Instead, they use a focus system. You have a small passive focus regen, abilities that spend focus, and abilities that generate it. You're going to be switching between those two groups for optimal output, so you'll have to get use to that. This also means that you'll no longer need to invest in mp5 or intellect gear.

You also have many more pet options. Pets are divided into three trees--Ferocity (DPS), Cunning (DPS/Survivability/CC), and Tenacity (Tank), which corresponds to both their stats and the pet talent tree they have available (yes, you have some ability to spec a pet). The only significant difference between them is what unique buff they bring, all of which are a watered down version of other class' big buffs. You also have way more pet slots than you used to.
