speaking of which, there's a new one! http://xkcd.com/1650/

I never know what to say about babies either... "Oh, that's nice?" (All I want to say is "please stop showing me pictures, I just don't get it yet)

I like to start with "Awww, s/he's so cute" because that must be the baby equivalent of the generic "good morning" greeting or something. Followed up by the "so how are you sleeping?" question, because there's usually some amusing stories hidden in there. People fumbling for bottles at 2am while the "little cutie" screams and wails and the neighbors are pounding on the walls telling you to get the thing to shut up already, but it somehow doesn't wake the husband up.

Maybe just a little hidden schadenfreude in there too... Smiley: blush

I've been going with "left swipe" whenever people show me their baby pictures. I guess I could say "right swipe" if I really wanted to creep them out and stop them from ever showing the pictures again.

It's always a good idea to keep at least an arms length from anything that has a good probability of puking on you.

Also (because this is still technically an MMO forum I guess) this guy pretty much sums up my thoughts on the genre right now.

I've always wanted to try out EVE online, but I can't risk delving into a game of that magnitude. I've got other games I want to play, beat, then review. haha Definitely a fun article to read!

That was probably the reason I delayed playing it for years myself. Knew it was going to get drawn into it, and wanted to play other things first. Finally decided to give it a plunge about a year ago though. Beyond what's in the article, cutting the cord and living entirely off of cell phone data means it's one of the few games I can actually play now without going over our 18GB/month.

Go figure. Smiley: rolleyes

70 posts since I last stopped by. This place is on FIRE.

Also, EVE is legit. It just doesn't generally map to the typical MMO player the same way. Very much about the Sandbox.

Seriously, I'm all about the sandbox now. Basically everything I've touched over the last year or two has been openworldish (because probably that's a word): Skyrim, EVE, Sims, Mount and Blade...

Also something about being old and playing old games...

Also also: hi and stuff, good to see ya! Smiley: yippee

There's 43 of those "anonymous guests" here. Maybe they're tasty?

I'm sure there are in laws, and people that drop by to visit without announcement we can throw to the zambos.

someproteinguy's random rant of the day: Why is it so hard for two hospitals in different networks to communicate with each other? Getting a referral sent over and the paperwork processed doesn't seem like it should take over a week...

Mostly confidentiality, secure networks for transfer, insurance, and confirmations. A lot of paperwork to cover a lot of people's butts, really.

Good 'ol CYA, never underestimate it...

It's just a fascinating glimpse into bureaucracy. Doctor hands stuff someone who reviews it and gets the paperwork together for the referral and then it goes to the tech who sends the request over. On the other side there someone who receives it, and then passes it to someone else who puts it into the system, then the doctor in the new location has to review it and then call the patient and confirm, then pass it onto someone else who does the scheduling for the appointment. So you get referred in system, and they say "we can set up your appointment in one hour in this room with this person if you'd like," out of system the info passes through 7 different people and takes 9 days and the appointment is at least another week after that. Amazing how many people will have access to your information for such a seemingly simple thing.

Good times. Smiley: rolleyes

Not sure why I even bother to heat my pop tarts up, they're always cold by the time I get to them.

It seems like nearly the same amount of time to heat them up, it takes for them to cool down. I've just been eating pop tarts cold for months now. haha

Pop tarts are horrifyingly nasty. I don't know why anyone would eat them ever.
