Avatars are combined with a new service for premium users. the ability to upload a small number (5) of images to the site. We're not talking about much space here, 512kb total. We're not trying to get into the web hosting business here, just ensure that premium users can have their custom images here on the site without the need to get hosting somewhere else.

On the user page ( https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/user.html? ) there is a link to "Your files". this page will allow you to upload small images.

These images can be accessed from anywhere. Magelo background? copy the URL from the files page. This is a trial feature, if we end up with really innapropriate content, or a huge load, then I'll need to re-consider the global access to them.

For the purposes of the avatar which links into this forum system, the user page will then allow you to define one of the images as your avatar. This image must be no larger than 80 pixels by 80 pixels.

Once your avatar is set, it will show on all posts by you, retroactively.

Alright, first step, get an 80 pixle by 80 pixle image that you want to use. (my avatar is 80 by 80 if you need a size guide). Next, save the image as a jpeg or gif image. Bitmaps, or bmp files will not work right. Nor will an image over 80 x 80 pixles. When you have your file ready, go to the forum here, and click on "your account" or "options" and go to "your Files". Locate your avatar image onj your computer, then upload it. Now go back to the main options page. Assuming you are a premium member (avatars are premium only) you should be able to select the image from the drop down list. Let me know if you need more help.
