Warren Stupid? She sure didn't appear to be stupid at her rally in Va. Her problem was that most people are still not ready to vote for a smart woman who speaks her mind and persists.

Trump totally outwitted her, which says it all.

You have her up on stage boasting about her tiny fraction of maybe Native American blood while all the tribes are telling her to shut up about it. Her whole history with abusing that designation - which she has no right to - is something any sentient person in her position would be trying to brush under the rug. Not Warren, though.

It's like if Harris brought a black guy up on stage, emptied a pistol into him and planted a gun on his corpse with a saucy wink to the audience. Just because you're about something, it doesn't mean you have to put it up in neon for the whole world to see.

Warren's officially out (Smiley: cry).

Is it too soon to think about a running mate; Assuming Biden is the D-nominee, who shall run alongside him?

Warren
Abrams
Buttigeig
Harris
O'Rouke
Who else?? (If anyone says Clinton they have to take a drink)

Pros and cons?

Warren is well qualified, but her policies are in direct opposition to Biden. She would have to sell out, which I'm sure she would do.

Abrams, Buttigeig and O'Rouke are all no names. We shouldn't consider them until they move up in the ranks.

Harris would be better as AG (not a recommendation, just observation)

Klobuchar would be the best option. Biden will be a one term president (if elected), so I think VP would be very important.

The only way Klobuchar would be the best option is if you're worried about holding Minnesota. At which point you have bigger worries.

Nate Silver predicted Klobuchar as a running mate for Biden. I think Joe is going to feel the need to pair up with a black person - Stacey Abrams keeps coming up. (This reminded that Booker is not on the list above and he's quite viable). Harris is solid but I just never got the impression that her and Biden hit it off very well.

Also, Biden is not a sure thing. I don't think Sander's running mate would have as much impact on the general as Bernie seems to be a show-stealer. Still mates are carefully chosen specifically to drawn in voting blocks. Who's Bernie's best bro?

When candidates starting dropping from this particular race, I can't help but speculate on what deals were being made behind Oz's curtain. These days the intrigue is only heightened by trying to spot the bots and interpret the media.

Realistically he is. He's projected to do very well tonight, and the next batch of delegate-rich states next week is even worse for Sanders. Sanders had to do much better than he did on Super Tuesday to have any chance of capturing the lead and he lost it.

There’s Stacey Abrams of Georgia — a star in the Democratic party who was mentioned as a possible running mate for nearly all of 2020 candidates. But there are other names on the list, including a pair of senators from the state of New Hampshire and even possibly former Deputy Attorney General and #resistance hero Sally Yates.

Sally Yates would be interesting. NH Senators are both D's, both white women and both former NH govs. Politically speaking they're clones of one another. I still think Biden needs to go with a black vp pick to insure the black vote turns out....

Joe is showing more life these days, but I still get the feeling that he's just along for the ride on this whole campaign. He's wants to beat trump - clearly, but does he want to be president?

Who would be a good vp for Uncle Joe that would help bring disenfranchised Bernie supporters to the polls?

How are they disenfranchised? Would Sen. Sanders select a moderate for a VP to appeal to moderates?

Well how do fellow dems feel about Joe our nominee?

I think he's been way too 'flexible' with his public opinions and actions on various topics over the years. I'm not sure how well he'll get through the media vetting process - unlike trump he seems to have some bit of soul that will take damage.

Imo his running mate selection could make or break the race. He won't bring the disenfranchised to the polls alone.

Honestly, it all depends on who you ask.

If Harris wants it, I would love for her to be the heir apparent in 2024, because I think Biden isn't going to run again. However, there's clearly no guarantee that a VP will win, and Harris is not exactly established nationally. She might be better as AG or even at State, whatever she wants, really.

Abrams is smart and driven and completely lacking in any real experience. If she'd won the Governor's race I'd be all in. As it is... I don't think she brings enough clout, and she is not ready to take the wheel.

Warren brings her own baggage, and I'd rather set her up at SEC or FTC and let her prosecute the current administration for the next four years, because f*ck 'em. And that's assuming there would be a Democrat that could win her seat.

Whitmer, again, is not well known nationally but would bring a reassuring (white) presence in the Midwest where she is known.

But my real preference, after Harris, would be Tammy Duckworth.

I'll trade you Trump for Trudeau, and, just to sweeten the deal, I'll throw in a McConnell or a Collins.

Apparently Biden pledged to pick a female vp. Limiting his choices by 50% is a big gimme to the fems. I really like Harris - she's smart, but she may be wasted as vp - just like Warren would. Klobuchar might be ok, I'd say shes too yuppy, but not sure that's still a term that's in use. Abrams has charisma - that big smile has got to be worth something. If Joe asked for my recommendation - I think that I'd go with Abrams (at this point in time).

After my own heart, you are.

The only responses I've seen to Harris have been negative based on her actions as California AG, but they've also all been from disaffected Sanders supporters. "I'll vote Biden if I have to, but if SHE'S on the ticket, I'm out" stuff.

Abrams' lack of experience would make her pick feel like nothing more than "Well, here's a black woman" and probably become a sticking point due to the legitimate possibility that one of the two VP nominees might take the wheel in the next four years.

Warren has the Senate issue; her interim replacement would be picked by a GOP governor and could stop a Senate flip.

Whitmer would be a solid pick but she's already said that she's not in consideration and would be helping Biden with the vetting.

I'd go with Klobuchar as a second-choice to Whitmer if you wanted a white, midwestern Rust Belt democrat but she lacks Whitmer's executive credentials.

I mean, you'd have to really stretch to hate Harris on the basis of her prosecution record; but yeah, people will do that.

Duckworth would bring in the Midwest, veterans, white women who won't admit they prefer to vote for white people, and makes a fair bid to bring in the disabled and their families and care takers.

Plus, she's smart and committed. And I think she could do the VP job of going for the jugular while Biden looks beneficent and Presidential.

Really?

In fact, Peoples had been arrested for her daughter’s spotty school attendance record under a truancy law that then-California Attorney General Kamala Harris had personally championed in the state legislature. The law, enacted in January 2011, made it a criminal misdemeanor for parents to allow kids in kindergarten through eighth grade to miss more than 10 percent of school days without a valid excuse.

Quote:
Harris filed charges against a handful of San Francisco parents whose elementary school-aged children were consistently missing school.

Of course she tried to spin it when it came back to bite her in the ***:
Quote:
In the memoir she released shortly before announcing her candidacy for president, Harris described her work on truancy as “trying to support parents, not punish them.”

Helluva way to support parents!

Also from that article:

Quote:
The district attorney described Peoples’ conduct in unsparing terms, telling local news outlets she had ignored the school’s numerous requests for meetings and multiple warnings that Shayla was truant.

“The defendant was offered counseling and parenting classes,” read a press release from the district attorney’s office. “The student was provided the opportunity for a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, a mentor at school [and] monthly meetings with law enforcement officers.” Peoples never responded to those offers, it claimed.

Her daughter was ill. She never let the school district know?

I mean, who cares? Maybe her daughter was skipping school. What does Harris stomping in there with her big heavy sturmman boots do to help the situation? Do we really believe putting parents in jail is going to help their children with their truancy problem?

I note also that rich children and parents (home-schooled, tutored or in private school) are totally exempt from these laws. How exactly is Harris a progressive again?
