Well I did Utsusemi quest today so get some cash. No one bought it all morning so I decided to ask some low level NIN if they would like to buy it off me, offering to also teleport to them. Here's a nice conversation I had...

Juubie: Yes, 140k? I'll even teleport and bring it to you.

There's nothing wrong with advertising items to people. He was level 10 in a party in the Dunes. For all I knew, he might not have bought the scroll yet and was going to have to walk all the way back at 12. What a big help it would have been for me to bring it out to him. He knew my point for sending the /tell was to sell it to him, not to GIVE it to someone I've never met before. All he had to say was he didn't need it.
Why even let the little girl have the joy of arguing, i would have just let him say he could do the quest and be over with it, just a game boys, just a game.

yea, i dropped it, so wat? and i actually farmed bead necklaces for ls member to get fame, then went and helped him do quest, and then bought it f/ him for 50k (goes for 150k in ah).

I've partied with Creepingpumpkin before several months ago, I've never realized he was still playing. ^^; Wasn't very nice of him in my opinion, but hell, what do I know, I live in a sheltered little world full of cute tarutarus.

Well, here is my take on it.
If someone offered me a Utsusmi Scroll, I would first ask price (Just becasue its a hella expensive item, and I would assume its not being given away) I would however decline politely, but be thinking to myself that this guy must think I'm retarded, to be asking me such a dumb question.
In all honesty, if someone wants to buy the scroll, they will go to the AH. Approaching people directly, in this case is not really the best business move for several reasons. I have been approached directly to buy semi-expensive items (Mainly woodworkers selling lots of arrows) and teh results where great for both people.
This case is different because, its a higher priced item, and it can be obtained through a quest (lots of people quest it over buying it) All be it, the fame required before the quest is a pain. Just put it up at AH, chances of contacting a direct buyer in this case are slim at best.
