It's sad that people still make the mistake and not fully read what they are buying. It's even more sad that others are so willing to take advantage of this tactic and try to scam others. And yes, it is a scam. The argument that people put something in their bazaar for max gil is mute, because people who do that aren't trying to sell the item through the bazaar. In most cases they are doing it to show or to set aside the item so it doesn't get tossed or in the way of whatever the person is doing.

And Orion is right, right now there is nothing a gm can do about it. Unfortunately, this has yet to be considered grief tactics in the game, but if people keep placing calls when it happens or when they see it happen, who knows what the future may hold. But even if the gm can't do anything about it, it doesn't make it right.

And you have to ask yourself is that amount of gil worth ruining your reputation over. People generally don't want to be associated with people who knowingly rip people off or scam others. Just because you have seen others do it, does not mean it's right. If it was, then we wouldn't see so many threads surrounding the issue.

So to anyone considering doing this, go ahead, go for it. Upset people, ruin your reputation. Eventually you will get to a point in the game where no amount of gil is going to get you what you want. Instead you will be dependant upon a trustworthy group to work together to get those rare/ex items or experiences you will so richly desire. And with a shot reputation, you will not get the chance. Just look at the DSM thread to see what the future will be like. Here's someone who rightly or wrongly has a bad reputation and has reached the point in the game where he'd like to be in with the groups. Most shells won't take someone with a bad reputation because they don't want that reputation to reflect on their shell and they won't want to upset longtime members by accepting someone who has potentially screwed those members over. And even if you are in one now, nothing lasts forever in this game. Keep upsetting people on the server and eventually you will get to someone that your shell didn't want you to upset and you will find yourself booted. Then you will have plenty of time to think of new scams and if all of that gil is worth giving up on so many other experiences and opportunities in the game. And guess what, just like a GM can't do anything about the scam, they can't make a linkshell accept you either.

Just like those Shihei scammers that put shihei 5k per item and try to play it off with it coming in the entire stacks for that price. Sure, some people will fall for **** like this, and it's questionable on their part, but you shouldn't be taking advantage of it.

Yeah Orionsp, you've now scammed someone out of millions of gil on top of everything else you've done. I've seen you once in one of my parties in Onzozo and some linkshell was fighting Ose. You sat there the entire time spamming your provoke macro on Ose trying to claim it. The ENTIRE TIME while thils linkshell fought it when we weren't in battle, literally filling the chat log. - - Your justification for that was, "oh well, it's their fault if they lose claim somehow." basically. Good job man.

Btw, I'm sure that ORIONSP was trying to steal once using other "trick".

the trick was this...:

Spanish n00b(Orionsp) shout in Lower jeuno that hes trying to sell V.Claw for 4millions (was 7m in AH by then)

But he doesnt want put it on bazaar. So he want use {Trade} for it. I start {Trade} and he put an v.claw on it. I put 4,000,000 obn the window, then he *intentionally* d/c

He come back, and tell me "Sorry I d/c", then we start trade again. Some people (most retards, but still) won't look again the name of his item. Then he put Scorpion claw instead the v.claw and trade it for 4m.

Orionsp tried this already to me and some friends, obviously, none was too idiot so he changed the method.


IMO, Shadeed is a ******, but still not good reason to rob him.

Good thing is, Orionsp new name is Thief, and NO ONE will want him on a LS.

I hope you plan spend the money you stole on things to solo XD

No worries, I'm a member of Sparkle and Fade, I'll be sure the Sacks and Linkshell Holder know about Orionsp and his tactics.

It really saddens me to see that there are people willing to act like this on our server. Sure, it's only a game, but there are also real people behind those monitors too.

You should also know that word gets around in this game like wildfire- do you really want to ruin your reputation on the entire server for a measly four million gil? I don't think so- good luck trying to get into an endgame LS if you're going to use asshat tactics like that.

At the end of the day, it's not the gil, the experience, or the equipment you have. It's the fun and communication you have with friends online. In a game like FFXI, once you get rid of that, it's not even worth playing anymore.

I split this post into two parts as I'd first like to tell you how much I like Orionsp, and secondly I'd like to make a point about the spanish/arab hate that sometimes shines through on Ragnarok and serverwide.

Hee hee... Orionsp is great. Just a couple days ago, Rhystia needed help with his Davoi coffer and Orionsp joined in. After 45 minutes or so we got a MNK testimony and I /tell my DRK friend who just joined in for the fun "All right, Orionsp won't stay for more than a couple more fights now". About ten minutes after the MNK testimony dropped Orion had to go to work. ^^ It's so damn obvious sometimes. Luckily we got the drop just a couple more fights after, but that's exactly what makes me wonder: Is making up lame excuses really worth it? Ten more minutes and noone would consider him egoistic. I didn't know there was general Orionsp hate around the server until now. Just felt I should join the mob.

(Now about nationality: At one time thought I hated Spanish people. Then Arabs took over. Suddenly I started feeling hatred towards American pre20's, but now I've finally figured out why I dislike so many people. I don't dislike people from southern Europe, Middle East or Americans with acne... I'm just majorly turned off by people who can't spell, and especially people who don't bother. If I get a party invite like "hi pt {Do you need it?} I just turn people down even if I'd love to get a few thousand experience points. "wats ur main?" is another way of saying "So, what job's your highest?" and still, it feels like two completely different questions. If it was real life talk it would feel like the first one was spitting in my face as he was talking, or toads jumping out of his mouth, while the second person would seem to fit into my image of a normal, polite person. I've been talking to several Spanish people with the ability to spell decently, and I find that I'm more inclined to think they are smart and experienced within the game compared to people that can't/don't want to spell properly , no matter where these monkeys come from. To put it to an extreme degree, it might even be the way "they" say society has become. (Which is one of the reasons we get eating disorders and spend hundreds of dollars monthly on fashion, even if we can't afford to.) We're all perfectionists, and the beauty of people ingame lies not within their looks, but in the way they express themselves. At least that holds true to me. To be honest, if I were into dating people over the game, I'd rather go out with guys that can spell decently than chicks that can't. Because text-based communication is the way we show our personalities in the game. I'm not sure wether this is something others would agree to, but come on, we can't hate people because of their nationality? It can't be as simple (and damn stupid) as that, can it?)

About hate country people, has an explanation, example, u know 10 spanish, 8 are good, u dont remember them, if the other 2 are bad and do something u will remember all spanish as bad people, but no way
