Armorsmithing :: Final Fantasy XI

Hello guys. I've been away from the game for a while now, and I've been doing Blacksmithing since I came back for Cata. I've been trying to get specialized in Armorsmithing, but I can't find new information for 4.0.3, only for 3.x.x. Does any one have new information on this?

~~Beyond the quest trinket, if you can still get it~~, there's no reason to worry about speccing Armorsmithing vs Weaponsmithing. All the benefits for both specializations, along with the various Tailoring and Leatherworking specs, have been removed in favor of allowing crafters to make and use anything in their craft. Alchemy specs and Engineering specs were unaffected.

The quest for the respective trinkets can be done by all blacksmiths, since anyone can learn all the patterns from turning bars in.

Stat-wise? You get an extra 2 gem sockets that you can put on your bracers and gloves for next to nothing. The total stat bonus is comparable with what you get from JC and identical to the bonus from Inscription, Enchanting, and post 4.0.6 LW. Other than that, you can make a few epics with chaos orbs and a few i346 weapons.
