Pandemonium Warden Defeated

Just over five months ago, Final Fantasy XI finally got the attention that its playerbase has been clamoring for since as long as they can remember. Unfortunately, that attention came in the form of laughter from the gaming community that the above mentioned playerbase would subject itself to a game containing a mob that couldn't be killed after 18 hours of effort. The Warden had yet to be successfully killed, so while this was no doubt a valiant effort, it was also a pioneering one and therefore surely not the original intended battle that it eventually turned into.

Nevertheless, the article surged across the Internet and resulted in an impromptu patch that changed the Pandemonium Warden, causing it to despawn if not defeated within two hours.

Located in the depths of the Aydeewa Subterrane, this frightening beast takes on 10 different forms. Upon using his special move Hellsnap, the Pandemonium Warden will then change into one of the following forms: Battleclad Chariot, Long-Bowed Chariot, Long-Armed Chariot, Armored Chariot, Cerberus, Hydra, Khimaira, Gulool Ja Ja, Medusa, and Gurfurlur the Menacing. The lamps that accompany the Warden will change into different mobs, depending what form he changes into.

The Warden will return to his original Dvergr form and players must fight him until he uses Hellsnap again, at which point he will take on another form. All 10 forms, as well as his original Dvergr form (who uses Astral Flow and calls all avatars), must be slain in order for him to be defeated.

More recently, the infamous Dvergr was finally slain by the linkshell Apathy on Remora , reportedly with only five minutes left on the clock. Congratulations to the Pandemonium Quellers of Apathy from the entire Allakhazam team!

After 1 hour and 55 minutes the great Pandemonium Warden is fell and all that drops are a Cerebrus Claw and a Crystal

Lol, not really, but doesn't that sound like a typical FFXI scenario?

Here is a pic of the drops for those that care

Sorry, this is completely unrelated to this post, and you may not even see this. I am curious, I understand how you got Bonecraft 103(with the 3 items all +1), I also understand how you got +3 for advanced support OR the Support Belt for 10k. However, how did you get points +4 and +5??? I have never heard of this! Thanks for any information you can give me on this!

Been looking around a bit... and I can't find whether they beat PW (in all of his forms) or just his original Dvergr form... If anyone who knows could post it up I would appreciate it. Any way you look at it tho, Congratulations! and Big ups to Apathy [Remora]! (hmmm... never thought I'd be cheering for apathy...)

First I learned about this NM was through Yahoo HEADLINE news ...lol . I was like 'AR~ FFXI finally made the headline news and started to be get noticed. Great!'. But well.. later found it was just a negative news about players getting sick and playing too long to beat a boss. How come SE made numerous successful titles in gaming industry ....but FFXI is such an underdog when comparing with WOW (at least look at the number of players they have WORLDWIDE).

Don;t get me wrong. I am a hardcore FF fans. I played all japanese version FF games (only didn't finish FF8 because I did not like the story). I would like to see FFXI become the most popular online game. However, at this stage, I do not see the light. Maybe SE can learn from the mistake and do a better job in the upcoming Ranock (Something spells like this...forgot) new online game in coming years. Most complaints I got from players is the party waiting time. I just wish FFXI had introduced fields of valvors in the very beginning.

Nice how you changed the post date. I'd also argue the "attention it deserved" was given to it on national TV, not a gaming blog (that also mentioned the recent bans)

Fusion, the post date was changed to two days earlier so that the editorials could get more exposure.
