Call center experience
# Aug 11 2009 at 12:54 AM Rating: Good
I Called & Finally got through to someone with a pulse on Friday. I have discovered that both my bank card & my prepaid card does not offer 3d secure as an option (both are master cards issued in the US from 2 different banks). I also do not use my bank card online at all after an incident with my auto insurance <also still being resolved> caused me an additional $231. In bank fees. Besides, that is what Paypal is for <a secure financial transaction
online>.

I have been told that SE would call me back and elevate my status in this matter. I seriously don't think they want to refund all the money we spent on our four gaming accounts as in monthly fees alone we're talking over 2k USD. Not including the cost of the original disks and expansions.

However in my being very ticked off, I did some research on the web. I discovered that is is by no means SE's fault (at least not alone). They were forced to adapt 3D secure to their checkout process by Mastercard. It's apparently taken them 2 years to implement, but I am also not sure if the restriction is purely a European requirement for Maestro card acceptance. Then, why is everyone in the US being forced to comply? Well that's simple, Since once you add a feature you can't remove it. So, We're boned! And if you don't add the feature your ability to accept credit cards might be revoked or you might be required to pay fines to the credit card company as a merchant. This makes me pissed off almost enough to get rid of all the master cards I have.

Add to that 3D Secure is, anything but secure.... And you can understand my objections.

Btw: It's already Tuesday, and I have not yet heard from SE in this matter Nor have been asked for payment tho I had my credit card in hand the entire time I spoke with a Play online rep. May all you more fortunate players still playing enjoy the Moogle event as I am very unlikely to be seeing you in game till they rectify this problem (most likely after the event has passed). Unless I can get another bank account Just so I can get 3d secured and re-activate our four accounts.

P.S. According to 3D Secure this is not supposed to affect "over the phone transactions". I assure you, I am calling them again today when their offices open. Assuming my cellphone holds up....

And by "assistance" they mean "don't let the door hit your *** on the way out".

This is going to really hurt market penetration with FFXIV. What will happen is if people don't have a supporting card they will put everything back inside the box and take that **** back.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I guess SE is too stupid to realize that they didnt explain anything? We already knew all of this, what they should have done instead of say, contact playonline, is just say straight out, sorry you cant play.
