Final Fantasy XIV Apps 'n Gadgets

Timers and other tools to help you in Eorzea.

Wondering when the Regional Leves reset next?  Or how about what the current elemental influences are?  There's an app for that.  Read on for more details!

There are a couple of programs out there that help you keep track of things like this, and now we have wiki articles for both of them!

For those of you who splurged on a Logitech G-series keyboard with LCD display, you now have something to show.  The FFXIV Logitech LCD App has what you are looking for.  Head on over to the wiki article there for details.

Even if you don't have a fancy keyboard, you aren't left in the dark.  I have also written a Windows Gadget that works with Windows Vista and Windows 7 that displays all of the same things as the Logitech app and much more (no worries Logitech owners, these features are also coming to the Logitech app in a future release).  Check out the wiki article to see what it shows and how to get it.

These wiki pages are where these applications will be supported.  The discussion pages there can be used to report bugs as well as request features.  Check back often for updates as they become available.  You can also discuss these exciting new applications in the ZAM Final Fantasy XIV forums

I'm wondering if I should reinstall this gadget as it was messed up when the daylight savings time system hit (for the record, I think the DST system is stupid)...

According to the gadget, the leve reset already happened. In-game though, it hasn't yet.

Any suggestions? =/

EDIT: Nevermind; updated to the latest version.

Thanks a lot for this!!!!

Can I ask, if it's possible to show the current time IRL? I'm asking this because the guildleve reset timer in behind the actual time by 1 hour as per http://www.ffxiv-status.com/

Thanks again.
Windows XP

I would love to see this for Windows XP - maybe I'm behind the times, but I still don't feel like moving to vista or 7. I'm sure there are others who are on XP still and would enjoy this as much as myself.

The problem is there is no platform for it on Windows XP. I have some ideas of how to make it work, but it will be a while before those become reality.

Actually, you can run the sidebar on Windows XP, it's just an application. I know it works, because I used it. A Google search on "Windows sidebar XP" will probably show you how.
Breakdown of the clock
# Oct 15 2010 at 12:00 PM Rating: Good
Would someone kindly breakdown the information on this Clock? I've heard varying rumors regarding what each factor does to your synthing but I've never fully comprehended what they do exactly.
1) Moon phase: I've heard from one person that its bad to synth on a full/non moon cycle and its best to synth on a half moon cycle. Could someone verify or back this up?
2) Elements: What is the difference between the Month Element and the Hour Element?
How does each element effect the synth and does it do it in a different manner?
Fire:Ice as Water:Wind as Earth:Lightning for polar opposites?
3) WTF is Moon Polarity O.o?

I haven't seen any of this negativity that some of you have mentioned. My android app has almost 5,000 downloads now, and still has a 5-star rating with tons of positive comments, suggestions, and support from the users.

I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that I haven't experienced much along the lines of negativity. 99% of the feedback I've got has been great.

First of all thank you so much for putting the time into making this. It seems that the game developers don't even want to take the time to write these sort of things, so it is nice to see people take the effort.

Sadly I will not be able to use it. That is because many years ago, the G15 was much different than it is today, and is the keyboard I use. They stopped updating its software in 2005, when they re-unveiled a keyboard and named it the exact same name as their previous keyboard, but with less features than their earlier version.

Someday I will update my keyboard, but until then thank you for your efforts.

I have an original monochrome 18 gkey g15 if this is the one you are on about.
There are windows 7 drivers for it, and it is still supported.
Make sure you go to the logitech site and get the drivers manualy, the auto update stopped working as all the IP addresses and things it used got changed.
Great But..

have you tried it? I think it might work for you still. People with the original series and even lower series are reporting that it works...

I agree with you Ken, it's nice that people take the time to do things like this. I've been using the Windows Gadget for at least a week now and it's pretty handy. I really don't see the point in acting angry at these folks because of issues with FFXIV. If you don't like it, you don't have to use it, but don't abuse people because of it.

I think it is nice to see people getting creative and share it with the community. I love the apps, keep up the good work!

People who design apps for games have my sympathy. Either show appreciation or don't say anything at all. If can't program or design useful utilities, be careful what you say.

On the bright side we now have access to a useful utility to help us keep up with leve's and get decent exp while SE designs more content.

Discouraging someone for taking an active roll in any community in an altruistic manner is hardly justified by your lack of interest.

I 'AM' interested. I have an interest in this website, and in this game. However, I really don't see a point to providing a 5.1 surround-sound system to a car that has been stripped and is up on blocks in an over-grown back-yard...

NEXT I think the 'altruistic' people should devote themselves to a server emulation, and then FIX the things SE got allll wrong. Show them how it's 'done'.

But that's just my 'lack of interest' piping up again....sorry.

Since I didn't see you post previously here I doubt he's aiming this 'misfired aggression' at you. He's just saying stop putting down people that are trying to make something positive. There's a large difference between making an app and creating their own server emulation. That's like telling a kid stop being proud of adding cards and coins to a bicycle wheel and start working on full auto-body repair/redesign.

Props on the app, look forward to seeing it. Haven't installed it yet.

Sorry...and yes...you are right. Perhaps I am being a little overly critical.
Who cares?

Who cares about 'apps' when FEATURES of the game are so badly messed up?

Head is on fire? We're out of water, but hey...here's some 'Aloe' for those nasty burns...ENJOY!

Just an example...
