February 25th Patch Notes

Below are the notes on the changes made in today's patch, as listed on the official playonline site. --------------- [Event-Related] New quests, including NPC escorts, have been added. Players are now able to repeat artifact quests. A new avatar quest has been implemented. A new feature allows you to replay event scenes that were viewed outside of towns or within burning circles. A limit has been placed on the number of conquest points your nation can receive by trading weapons and armor to outposts. It is now more difficult to take over a region using this method. The beastmen have buried treasure in several areas of the Outlands. Certain conditions must be met in order to find and obtain these prizes. [Battle-Related] Four new areas ("Dynamis" areas) have been opened. View details here.>> Several new notorious monsters (NM) have been added to existing areas. Enemy strength in the level cap battle "Shattering Stars" for the red mage will be adjusted. The following monster names have been changed: The names of the Tonberry Beleaguerers found in the Yuhtunga Jungle have been changed to Tonberry Jinxer. The Qufim Island Giant Rangers that appear during expeditionary force battles are now called Giant High Rangers. The effect of the bard song Goddess's Hymnus has been adjusted to differ from the effects of the spell Reraise, a bottle of reraiser, and a scroll of instant reraise. The icons for the bard songs Foe Lullaby and Horde Lullaby have been adjusted. TP will now affect the weapon skill True Strike's accuracy. An incorrect message displayed when obtaining certain high-level weapon skills has been fixed. An issue where the "weapons of trials" would regain their lost latent effects when equipped in the left hand slot has been fixed. Now, regardless of the status of the item, when one of these weapons is equipped in the left hand slot its latent effect will not activate. The time interval between appearances of certain notorious monsters in the Sea Serpent Grotto and the Bostaunieux Oubliette has been adjusted. An issue concerning monsters not reappearing at their scheduled times has been fixed. An issue concerning the charm status of monsters after the beastmasters controlling them leave the area has been fixed. Repeated use of the spell Gravity on notorious monsters will result in the monster slowly building up a resistance to the magic's effect. This resistance wears off with time. An issue where monsters with full resistance to Bind would be bound by certain abilities and the additional effects of equipment has been addressed. Monsters that are reeled in while fishing will now gradually increase in level if they are not engaged in battle. The increase in strength will not begin immediately, so a player should have ample time to defeat a monster. If the player engaging a powered-up monster is defeated or escapes from the battle, the monster will return to its original level and eventually disappear. [Item-Related] New pieces of equipment known as "relics" have been introduced. New synthesis recipes have been added. Also, the number and quality of items that are created using certain recipes have been adjusted. New items are now available from the Tenshodo and the vendors in Norg. In addition to extra storage, certain features that can enhance player status have been added to various furnishings. View details here.>> A new avatar battle, as well as new rewards in existing avatar battles, have been implemented. The icon graphic for the katzbalger +1 has been changed to match that of the katzbalger. New items can now be harvested with sickles. When equipping items using the /equip command, an item will no longer be removed if the command consists of the same piece currently equipped. The buying price for certain "rusty" items has dropped. The prices of certain furnishings have been adjusted. A new set of synthesizable equipment for use during wedding ceremonies has been introduced. Currently, the wedding service is only available in Japan. However, we hope to have the service ready for North American players in the near future. Please check this site regularly for further details. The names of the "rasetsu hachimaki" and the "rasetsu hachimaki +1" have been changed to "rasetsu jinpachi" and "rasetsu jinpachi +1" respectively. The help messages of the following items have been changed: Item Old New Indra Katars "Triple Attack"+1 --> "Triple Attack"+1 Additional effect: Lightning damage Noble's Tunic Enhances "Cure" potency --> "Cure" potency +10% Aristocrat's Coat Enhances "Cure" potency --> "Cure" potency +12% Rasetsu Samue Lv73 --> Lv72 Rasetsu Samue +1 Lv73 --> Lv72 [System-Related] The pose taken by Mithra while sitting (/sit) has been slightly altered. Players are now able to alphabetically sort items on auction (excluding weapons and armor). In addition, the method of sorting will be memorized for future usage (excluding sorts by job or race). The lot system has been updated. If a player who wins a lot has no room in their inventory or cannot hold two of the item in question, the treasure will no longer be lost; the item will now be given to the player with the next highest lot. When an item cannot be obtained for the reasons listed above, a message informing the player of the lost treasure will only appear in his or her log window. A new "Lot Results" switch has been added to the Chat Filter menu. This will filter all lot-related messages from your log window (excluding your own). New additions to the "Config" menu allow players to adjust mouse and camera settings. Some of these additions include the implementation of a "chase camera" which locks directly behind your character at all times, as well as the option to invert the X and Y axis on the camera controls. The default settings for the shortcut commands "Ranged Attack" (Ctrl+D or Alt+D) and "Call For Help" (Ctrl+G / Alt+G) have been set to "off." It is not necessary for existing characters to readjust their shortcut commands, as this change only pertains to the settings of newly created characters. Names of the "Absorb" spells have been added to the auto-translate function. To prevent the accidental deletion of characters, the character deletion process has been modified. [Windows Version Updates] The type of shadow detail can now be adjusted between "High," "Normal," or "Off." The corresponding text commands for this setting are: /localsettings shadows high/normal/off When using the hardware mouse cursor (adjustable in the Misc. section of Final Fantasy XI Config), the on-screen arrow will now point in the direction of character and camera movement. *The software mouse cursor (default) has not been changed. [Known Issue] -When trading items to the Goblins near the entrances of Castle Oztroja and Beadeaux, erroneous text is displayed. This error does not affect gameplay, and is scheduled to be corrected in the next patch.

Marrige is coming?

Wow....I wonder if this will bring the debate of same-sex marriges to FF. Though it wouldn't surpise me if they include them when they do.

Dynamis

Again more info straight from playonline.com

Dynamis is a special new set of areas where players above level 64 can engage in exciting high-level battles with up to 63 other adventurers.
There are currently four different areas of Dynamis, each with a separate entrance. WindHurst, Bastok, sanDoria.

How to Enter Dynamis

First, a player must obtain a "timeless hourglass."

Then, the player must trade this item to one of many sets of "Trail Markings" hidden about Vana'diel. Trading the timeless hourglass to the markings transforms it into a "perpetual hourglass." With this new hourglass, a player may enter one of the four areas of Dynamis.

From the moment the sands of the perpetual hourglass begin to fall, one of the four areas of Dynamis will become reserved. During the reservation period, anyone in possession of the hourglass can enter that area.
Re-trading the perpetual hourglass to the same trail markings will warp the player to the reserved area of Dynamis.
*In addition to the perpetual hourglass, players must also possess a certain key item
in order to enter Dynamis. Obtaining this key item is up to each adventurer.
*The amount of time allowed in Dynamis will be recorded in the help text of the
perpetual hourglass.
*If an area of Dynamis is currently occupied, no other parties will be able to trade a
new timeless hourglass to the corresponding trail markings.

Duplicating Perpetual Hourglasses
Using the perpetual hourglass creates a copy of itself. By handing these copies out to other characters, it is possible to enter the same area of Dynamis in large groups.
In addition to handing out copies, players can also put these hourglasses in their bazaars. However, due to the difficulty of tracking sold goods, one should be careful when selling these hourglasses. Also, players who buy perpetual hourglasses from bazaars should note that the reserved time and area recorded on it will not be displayed until after the purchase.
*Only 64 people may enter the same Dynamis area at one time. Note that the
server will record the first 64 characters that enter the area, and no additional
characters may enter (regardless of whether or not there are currently 64
characters in Dynamis).
*Perpetual hourglasses can be duplicated further by those who have received a
copy, essentially allowing for an unlimited number of hourglasses to be made.
However, the moment 64 players have entered Dynamis, all extra hourglasses will
become void.

Leaving and Reentering Dynamis
Even if a player leaves Dynamis through magic or being KO'd, they can reenter the same area without restriction, as long as it is within the designated time of the perpetual hourglass.

*However, players will be in a weakened state for some time upon returning to
Dynamis. This weakened state will last for longer than the usual period
experienced after being raised from a KO'd status.
Upon entering Dynamis, you will be unable to reenter using a different hourglass for three days (Earth time).
At any time, you may check the amount of time remaining on this restriction by investigating the trail markings.
*The restriction applies to all areas of Dynamis during the three-day period.

Dynamis Reservation Time

Time allowed in Dynamis is exactly one hour from the moment a player trades a timeless hourglass to a set of trail markings. However, by defeating certain enemies, a group can extend the amount of time they are allowed in the area.
Starting from when the first character enters, if the number of people in an area of Dynamis remains at zero for approximately ten minutes (Earth time), the time and area designation on the perpetual hourglasses will be canceled.
*Time extensions will be reflected in all valid perpetual hourglasses' help text
(excluding those outside of Dynamis).
*A warning message will be displayed before a player's time in Dynamis expires.
*As long as one player remains in Dynamis, the area's reservation will not be
cancelled.

Dynamis Battles

In Dynamis, it is possible to cooperate with other characters to defeat enemies without being in the same party or alliance. Also, items dropped by enemies become available for every character in the area to cast lots on.
As in normal parties, the item is gained by the character who casts the highest lot.The name of, and number rolled by, the current highest bidder will be listed to the right of all items in the "Treasure" menu. This feature is available in Dynamis only.
*Please be aware that items not lotted for within the restricted time will go to
random characters or be lost entirely.

As for what drops the hourglass item etc... im not sure as of yet.
mog enhancement

this is what i found on the new mog house enhancements/furniture, care of playonline.com

To take advantage of your moogle’s new abilities, you must first place furnishings in your Mog House.
So find some furniture, place it in your Mog Safe, access the "Layout" menu from your Mog House, and then let your moogle do the rest!

Moghancements
The moogles have learned how to tap into the elemental energy found within all types of furnishings ? and how to focus that energy to their masters. This results in a cornucopia of various ability boosts.
After placing furnishings in your Mog House and finishing the Layout process, a message will appear on your screen informing you of your new moghancement (Key item obtained: Moghancement: xxxx).
The attributes of this moogle-powered assistance can be viewed from the Key Item list found within the main menu.

The type of moghancement given to you by your moogle changes depending on the elemental type and strength of the furnishings you place in your Mog House. Different combinations will result in different moghancements. Try finding them all! As long as the layout of your room does not change, you will never lose your moghancement. However, removing or replacing items can change the elemental balance of your Mog House. If this happens, your moghancement may be replaced with a new one consisting of different abilities.
For more information on the elemental type of furnishings, see the “Elemental Type and Storage Capacity of Furnishings” section below.

Storage
The moogles have also learned how to utilize the extra storage space hidden within furnishings, giving you more space to store your gear.
Depending on the type of furnishings you place in your Mog House, you can increase your storage capacity by up to 80 slots.
These new slots work in the same manner as your Mog Safe, and can be used to store almost anything (excluding furnishings).

-------------------------------------
To conclude as i understand all this jibberish: say you have a "cupboard" which before you only would have gotten 1 storage slot, well now you get 2, and the enhancement of Fire or what ever enhancement the particular item states and amount of slots.

Hrm, I'm concerned that they nerfed my alchemy craft. I had to spend 700k to get to 71 alchemy and weeks of farming and weeks of crafting to get where I am, and only recently have I started making money off of it. It'd really **** me off to no end if they screwed with it a lot

RE: Moogle abilities?

The new moogle abilities are called Moghancements.

From what i've read, this is to make furnishing for your moghouse more interesting. You can now add spaces in your bank by placing furnishing inside your moghouse (up to 80 slots). The other good part is that moogles can now refine the element from furnishing (or something like that...) Depending on what and where you place an item in your MH, you are to gain an "element moghancement", wich is supposed to give you a boost.

Here is the link to square's details about this, but expect to see more shortly on allakhazam.

http://www.playonline.com/comnewsus/200402262363.html

I strongly suggest everyone reads this.
You can also get some info about the 4 new areas (not alot but still, clean info) from playonline's site.

Hope this helps!
