Applying for World Emigration (Sep. 22)

The commencement of European FINAL FANTASY XI service has increased the overall population during peak times. Though the servers are able to cope with the added load, we have noticed that the peak population at 7:00 (PDT) has increased drastically, with more Japanese and North American players joining the game. For this reason, we have decided to invite players to emigrate to different Worlds to help balance the overall population. Please read the following carefully. If you wish to emigrate, please follow the instructions below. *Currently, access peak fluctuations for the European version are within acceptable levels. [World Emigration Guidelines] Applicable Worlds: -All Worlds Application Period: >From Sep. 22 (Wed) 02:00 (PDT) until Oct. 2, 8:00 (PDT) Regarding new World implementation and emigration: -Details regarding whether or not the emigration will take place, the date and time of emigration, the number of new Worlds created, and details about the configuration of new Worlds will be based on the outcome of the recruitment. There will be an announcement at a later time. -3 new Worlds are scheduled to be created. In the event that applicants are divided among multiple Worlds, all applicants from a single World will be moved into the same new World. -In the event that the number of players who wish to emigrate to the new World does not fill up one whole World, the World shift will be postponed. How to apply for World emigration: When the application period begins, an NPC called the World Shifter will appear in each of the following areas. By talking to this NPC, you can apply for or cancel World emigration, and confirm your character's emigration status. Please read the World Shifter's responses carefully before submitting an application. Ru'Lude Gardens (I-10) Port San d'Oria (I-8) Port Bastok (L-8) Windurst Walls (G-6) *Note: After the application deadline, you will be unable to make any further requests for World emigration. How to confirm your World emigration status: During the application period, a login message will appear indicating your World emigration status. If you are already logged in, you can view this message by entering "/smes". Please be sure to confirm your status before the end of the application period. *Message displayed when applying for World emigration: "You have submitted an application for World emigration." *Message displayed when not applying for World emigration: "You have not submitted an application for World emigration." CAUTION: If you are considering applying for World emigration, please read the following points to ensure a smooth transition. When emigrating: Emigration of characters is done one at a time. If you request emigration for any of your other characters, please conduct all applications separately. Character name: If your character happens to have the same name as another player in the World to which you emigrate, you will have to change your name before entering that World. If you need to change your name, your name will be shown in yellow, and you must follow the on-screen instructions. This name change will not affect your Friend List. Delivery Box/Auction items: All items up for auction and in your Delivery Box will be lost when you emigrate. Please collect these items before moving. Any items in your Mog Safe will be transported with you to the new world. Regarding used linkshells: Following a World shift, your linkshells will be automatically exchanged with new, unopened linkshells. If you have an unused linkshell, you may bring it to the new World. If a linkshell owner emigrates, the player's old linkshell will be deactivated and a new unopened linkshell will be automatically provided.

Fresh Start...
# Sep 28 2004 at 7:47 AM Rating: Decent
I am honestly looking at this imigration as a breath of fresh air, as on my server (Midgardsormr) the economy is horrible. I have not been able to fully explain it, but I know there is a LS of Japanese that have been hiking the prices on all NM drops for a long time, making it nearly impossible to get good items. As well, the economy changes up and down so quickly that it is hard to make stable profits.

A few people that I know are going to be changing too, just to start someplace new, and have a shot at being some of the higher level players on the new server. I am changing, mostly, because I think that it will be a new adventure.

I look forward to seeing you all there!
Where is the Serverlocation?
# Sep 27 2004 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
It sounds interesting for me. But does anyone know where these servers are situated? Or where are the current servers are situated. Since I am started with the new PC Version on Europe it might be good to change to an european server.
too risky

hello everybody

i am from odin and i really have to say that odin is fine the way it is :)

to change to a new blank world just would rise the risk to be unsatisfied afterwards

to change with a mule is not useful to me either, why should i make money on a new server if my main is still on odin?

well i hope many many people will chage with their mains so that odin becomes even more nicer (fewer people) hehe
gil?

Say you and some friends from other servers are only trying to move to the same server I realize you can't pick the server, but will it tell you which server you are going to before you go and give you the option to cancel the move?
Character move
# Sep 23 2004 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
I think most of us are being afraid of losing their friends, husbands, wifes, or whatever when they move the new servers (if they didn't move, that is)... Of course you will make new friends in the new servers... but I'm sure you will miss out all the best time where you and ex-ls members doing a mission or hunting NM together... (especially when your new ls at new server sucks!..lol) So here is what you can do:

1. Move only 1 of your mules to the new world (assuming you have a mule already, if not, tough luck!)
2. Create another mule to replace the existing one (I'm sure you will need a world pass for this)

By doing this, you will get to play in the new server and old server! Of course your mule in new world will probably need to build up the stuffs again, but hey! You get to stick with all your old friends (that moved and not moved) and meet new friends.... I think that what's matter to most of us!!!

this wouldnt work, would it? i thought you can only send items to other characters in your server. if this is true, then your mule wouldnt be much of a mule, would it? it would be just another character in another world.
RE: Character move
# Sep 24 2004 at 6:43 PM Rating: Decent
Well yes, it will just be another character in another world, but you can always spend time building that "new character" up and play with new friends at new server. Just extra buck a month...

oh, so like make a new character and move that guy to the new server, while leaving your main character and your mule on your old server. is that what you are saying?

I have other concerns, like:

What about the quests I have already completed? Are they complete on the new world? Is my fame the same?

What about the teleport links I have established via supply missions? Still active?

Still have my conquest points (60k)?

Talk about a bugs nest...I don't know how they would be able to merge people from different worlds onto a new world and have all the quests etc. be up to date. Am I missing something?

Please read the entire message from Square and you'll find out...
1. You will be placed on ONE of three new servers (worlds) along with anyone else who applied from your current world. You do not get to choose which one, however.

2. Each content id you possess has to apply individually. So you can send either all, or one to a new server. Those characters whom you choose to emigrate to a new server WILL wind up on the same new world. Any character that you do not apply for emigration will remain on your current server.

3. Whether or not they actually create new servers depends on how many players actually apply for the emigration, i.e. if only 200 people apply for new servers out of all the current worlds, most likely no new server will be created.

Gil Sellers

I would imagine that with the influx of newbies onto these new servers, and probably fewer higher lvl characters, the gil sellers are going to have a hayday. All they have to do is load up some mules with gil, transfer the mules as well as some of their bots to the new server. Many newbies and lowbies may opt to buy gil as there will be few high end crafters to sell farmed goods to at the AH.

Heres the twizted part... the gil sellers' bots (NM bots and Fish bots) will monopolize the market for certain items, they then can set the market value for these items. Then, people buy gil to buy these items, putting the gil right back in the hands of the sellers.

I must apologize, I didn't intend this post to be a rant about gil selling. My point is, if you are changing servers to get a shot at some of those NMs that are constantly bot-camped, you should think twice.
Hmm..

You know, the reason they might not let you choose the world you emmigrate to is so that, seeing as everyone in the world you are in now will be emmigrated to the new world, they can easily select applications that work. Such as an even number of levels...

100 1-10's
100 11-20's
100 21-30's

Etc etc etc.

I think this is just the thing that will get me back into the game. I have wanted to change servers for the longest time, but couldn't part with a main character I spent so much time with.
This is a perfect time to meet new friends and build a new LS.
My moggle has packed stuff up and I am ready for the exciting challenge. =3

It clearly states that you will be sent to a "new" world, so no chance of getting in Odin this way. You'll have to get a world pass and a new character if you want to do that.
RE: mule switch
# Sep 23 2004 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
Keep in mind that your mule will have no acess to your main character any more, you can not mail item, gil ect from one server to another.
So your mule will now be your main character on that new server, and the old main will be without their mule.
hummmm

I wish when i changed worlds i could change sex...
I chose a female char (i always do). And people assume ima gurl. this was my 1st MMO and i didnt thunk bout it.
Anyways... are there any advantages besides new start (rep wise) and NM camping... which nobody will have money to but the items.

Friendships are something great that make playing FFXI even better. My only caution to people switching worlds is, be sure you are ready to lose contact with some of your friends on that server. Sure, some you'll chat with somewhere, but, some always are lost.

Be sure you only switch if you are comfortable with that! And if you are, good luck on your journey, and may you make even more new friends! :-)

Best wishes, Taarak of Sylph.
Question
# Sep 22 2004 at 11:44 PM Rating: Decent
Question: If you apply for world emigration, and get moved to another world, if you have another Content ID will that character get moved also?

Like would i be able to move my mule to another world and keep my main character on Fairy?
Just like when Asura was born
# Sep 22 2004 at 11:37 PM Rating: Decent
Funny how many people didn't read the whole announcement and think they can switch to a pre-existing server...

This sounds to be basically what they did when they created Asura a little while after the NA release for PC. Not sure if more were created, but I moved to Asura from another that I don't even remember. Contrary to people's fears, the economy was stable within a few days. It was handled very well, and I didn't lose anything. I expect it will be as seamless this time around as well.

My LS would go, but one of our founders is away from his computer until after the deadline and we can't leave him behind Smiley: frown

shame they cant move both your chars at once, i'd be mad if my mule aka lvl 48 char which is retired. i use it to make cash. got stuck on a diff server from my lvl 7 blm i just started. i only have about 600k on my blm currently and its gonna need lots more to stay very good

ever figure that newbs dont HAVE any money to spend on nm drops?

So, you'd rather ditch your LS and have a much less chance of getting a party just to sell drops at a crappy price, or hold on to them until someone DOES get money? not me.
RE: MONEY TIME!!!
# Sep 22 2004 at 7:26 PM Rating: Decent
Yeah, Even Tho Noobs Dont eventually they will figure out what is worth alot and charge about the same on this server. If you have a 75 Thief and You nonstop NM hunt until they get up that high and can afford good stuff youll be rich^^.
RE: MONEY TIME!!!
# Sep 24 2004 at 5:58 AM Rating: Decent
actually, to comment on all three statements. everyone is going to be thinking the same way.
which means there are going to be higher lvl players already on the server, hunting those NM's
and on the contrary, the lowbies will make money very quickly believe or not, with a fresh economy.
as they will be the first wave of crafters, besides the already uber leet guys that transfered... my opinion; this is a new expierence, and it could make you rich, or just supply a new adventure, either way, its worth a shot.

PS: i'm not worried about losing old friends, as my entire ls (about 50 strong: taru temple of flesh, on garuda.) is changing servers. see ya there ^^
