Let the Parade Begin!

As the hubbub from the Harvest Festival died down, the inhabitants of each town called upon holiday tree craftsmen and began preparing for the "Starlight Celebration." The Starlight Celebration is an event in which the night sky is mirrored by vividly decorated trees and strings of brilliant lights. It is also a time for handing out presents to children and experiencing the joy of giving. The three regions are striving to see who can make the biggest and brightest festival of all. However, not everything is ready. The Starlight Celebration cannot begin without you there to enjoy it! Bring your companions and behold the spectacle of gloriously decorated trees illuminating the night! Find a comfortable spot beneath the glittering boughs and revel in the wonder of the Starlight Celebration.

I've given a bunch out, nothing happened yet.
I assume they're for the +1 version of dream hat...

When you're doing the quest you should write down the name of the children and the letter that they gave you so when you find the smilebringer you can tell him their correct names...In windurst smilebringer (Guy in the red hat) was in the Waters near the exit.
He asked a list of children for each letter. I assume these are all the kids that could give out letters. Yay Widescan.
Arukoko, Chomomo, Hororo, Komomo, Mimomo, Myumimi, Paruru, Pichichi, Purakoko, Shanruru.
NPC's name is Atagei-Portagei.

Getting the hat
# Dec 17 2004 at 12:37 AM Rating: Decent
Since nobody seems to have posted it yet, here is how you get the Dream Hat.

First talk to the Moogle for the event, he will tell you that 3 children need help and which zone(s) to find them in. Then, you run around talking to all the children until you find the correct 3 ( it is random which kids you get). Each one will give you a letter.

Remember which kid gave you which letter! When you've collected all three take them to the Smilebringer ( ie. Christina in Basktok Mines) and trade all three letters to her at once. She will ask which kid gave which letter. After answering that you will receive the Dream Hat.

At this point you can buy the Kiddie Presents and start giving them to children.

Merry Xmas everybody!

Last year, a number of Twinkling Treants appeared throughout each server. Each had massive amounts of HP, and took forever to kill. At the end, servers who killed all of their twinkling treants got the outpost teleport service, if I remember correctly. The trees were just decoration, same as this year, and there weren't these letters or special presents as there is going to be this year

C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\sound3\win\music\data

File is called music239.bgw

I use XiMC.exe to convert bgw<->wav. Forgot where I got it, but you should be able to find it. It's in Japanese but its very easy to use.

Hope this helps. :)

Dream Hat +1 (Head)- Rare/EX, Def:1, Dispense: Ginger Cookie
<Max Charges:1/Equip Delay:30s/Reuse Timer:1d>, Lvl:1, All Jobs

some other new items that may or may not be related to the event, but seem like they could be are:

Worm Belt (Waist)- Rare/EX, Enchantment: Costume, Lvl:1, All Jobs

Bastokan Tree (Furnishing)- Rare, Stg:1, Ice
Windurstian Tree (Furnishing)- Rare, Stg:1, Ice
San d'Orian Tree (Furnishing)- Rare, Stg:1, Ice

Kiddie Present- There are 4 different items bearing this name, the difference being the picture on the item, also, 3 of the are EX, the fourth is not.
Thankful Letter- Rare/EX, This letter, written by a child, is addressed to a "smilebringer."
Grateful Letter- Rare/EX, This letter, written by a child, is addressed to a "smilebringer."

as far as I can tell none of the items are available yet, I don't know when the event will be getting into full swing, right now it is only the decorations.
