Current Known Issue for "PlayStation2" Version (Dec. 27)Dec 27th, 2004 at 6:29 AM by Haggan

From SE: We are currently experiencing an issue where blackouts occur in the heavily congested Dynamis areas (PlayStation2 version). Since the maintenance on Dec. 12, 2004, these blackouts have become less frequent, but still continue to occur. Further efforts are being made to find a complete solution to this issue. Please take this into consideration before entering the Dynamis areas. Players will be informed of any improvement to the current situation. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't know if this is related but I'm on PC, use Verizon DSL, and I haven't been able to play FFXI since last Thursday (Ironically as soon as my Christmas Vacation started, almost to the minute >.<). When I log onto my character, I get disconnected within minutes (a red (--) appears next to me a minute before I lose connection). I have two other computers that are having the same problem. I tried uninstalling the game to see if that would help but now it won't let me download the patch for FFXI(it gets to around 10% of preparing the update and then I get an error). Does anyone know what is wrong? I got my hopes up when I saw that information about the playonline recovery this morning but it still isn't working. I live in Bowie, MD ont he East Coast if that might have anything to do wiht it.

Are you still having connection problems? I am also on Verizon DSL and have had connection problems in FFXI since 12/29/04. I have called both Verizon and Playonline and neither can tell me what is going on. Verizon says my connection is fine and Playonline tells me they have changed nothing. I am so frustrated that if I don't find a solution soon I'll have no choice but to quit playing. I really enjoy the game, but it's getting annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am playing on PC and PS2, both are having problems now.

im having a problem just d/l the update. it take like 10min just to check the version and verify the DNAS then when it does it doesnt d/l the update and says there is either network problems or problems with my connection but i have great connection. anyone else having or had this problem? i havent had any problem for about 3 months now but i went away for a week and now i can't even play the game anymore.

on top of my post below, i've had the EXACT same thing happen to me with the giant "eye of Sauron" ls pearl where my normally blue-gray normal size ls pearl is. WTH? now the little pol log on beeps wont even sound as i try to get from pol viewer to the FFXI/Tetra Master. Like i said b4 ive got a great connection and havent had probs in months. It shouldnt be my connection, and judging from the eye of sauron mentioned above, its not. Too bad yer not on Midgardsormr Kokiri.. 42rng/40war/22nin. whm are like an extra item at the snack bar now... r somethin...
But to all: BEWARE THE EYE!!!!

Not to mention, 2 of my party members dced multiple times within a few hours last nite and took like 10 to 15 min a pop to get back on, some not coming back. Pretty confident they wanted back in the pt too, not just backin out orgiven up on gettin reconnected. I myself arent able to get back on for 15 to 20 minutes +. This girl i just met said she got kicked at the same time as i did on the 28th (see other post). She couldnt get back on for like 45... SE... are u sick? little sniffle sniffle maybe?

Dec 28 5:15 am pst, d/c without any ability to get from Pol back onto game (cant get to screen that would have the second music and the various news w/ pics display). I havent dced in months, MUCH longer without ability to get back on. PC, cable modem. Netscape runs fine... anyone else? im startin to get worried i wont be able to play tomorrow... >< time to try again...

wow, what's your malfunction? first off they give a day or so warning, second the effected areas is the place you need to go to gt relic gear. i'm pretty sure, that person you got help from isn't too happy about not being able to get his relic armor till this is fixed...

Also I play near every day all day and i have experience much down time, in fact, since CoPs launch there has been very little down time, which is kinda unlike many games that go down. so feel lucky they don't need to do this every day like with some games

There have been multiple problems on top of dynamis. Not only is that not fixed yet but the most recent udates and maitnances caused my filters to not work. I'd rather they fix that so I don't have to reinstall the game and wait hours for the damn updates.

The filters work. Let me repeat: THE FILTERS WORK. If you don't want to see the DMG dealt/taken by other PTs you also have to filter out NPCs. For some reason you also have to filter out these if don't want to see the DMG of other PTs. Oddly though, you still get to see the DMG done by Avatars/Pets.

I have been experiencing the same problem with my filters . I can seem to filter out the damage taken by other PTs or the damage and actions other Pts inflict on mobs . This is becoming very annoying and is causing me to miss stuff in the call box . I really hope S/E addresses this soon ,

Do as everyone else has been saying. turn off the filters for NPCs and you should not see the damage those out of your party are dealing. its a minor inconvience but it works

Buy a new hard drive? Awesome idea. Pay $50 for FFXI, $30 for the CoP expansion, and then drop $100 on a new hard drive.

i becoming to hate all the damn down for maintenance! It looks like you can't play FFXI annymore, if you come online you get message , FFXI will be down for maintenance in about ...... houres AGAIN. I'm sick of it!

No reason to be sorry, you are right. They should have fixed this by now.

Dynamis zones had been bugged in one way or another since it was first introduced. Something about 60 people in one zone at one time fighting 1 monster makes this game go...... UUUUGGHHH I'M R3374D3D...

Fix the black outs and fix the places where people drop thru the map. This stuff wastes our valuable time.

P. S. SQUARE - DYNAMIS IS EXPENSIVE, YOU SHOULD KNOW YOU GUYS MADE IT THAT WAY. AT LEAST YOU COULD DO IS RESET OUR HOUR GLASS WHEN YOUR SHABBY PROGRAMING ***** US OUT OF HARD EARNED GIL. LOOK AT MY CAPS, I'M SERIOUS. t(-.-t)

Oh, and I'm sorry if I sound hostile here, but I had just found a high lvl to help me with my BLM AF2 when SE tells me I have to log out AGAIN! So, as you can surmise I'm not too happy with them right now.

Either delete those offending areas and cut your losses, or fire your maintenance staff and hire ones that can do the job right the first time. If we keep having a maintenance every other day people are gonna start quitting rather than pay you money for a game they can't even play.
