if u use to monitors u can play full screen and do other stuff on the other monitor anyway

all you people ******** the only reason "I" and "Most people" use a windower is to chat and stuff.....you said most people...some will still use it for other purposes...and thats what SE is trying to stop. plain and simple...dont use a windower, you dont NEED it. If u do need to chat do it first then log on, tell people "Hey, im playing FFXI, leave me the Feck alone"! nothing any of you say can justify the use of a windower.

I'm glad its not just me, this sucks because POL's stupid offices are closed and you cant get in contact with them to do jack. I dont get to play much as it is, and when i finally get to sit back and relax this happens.

is anyone else getting a Version update communication error? i'm gettingit on botht he PS2 and the PC its not letting me update, so i'm assuming that this is because the update is still going on then?

The main reasion I hear people wanting to use windower is to have something else to do while you wait 1 or 2 hours for a party. I am just wandering, why are you just sitting there for hours on end doing nothing? um, Craft, Fish, Quests, er, make your own party? There are 8 guilds, you gotta need to level one of those crafts. Maybe work up fame, go Chocobo digging, go farm, go mine, log, escavate, harvest... Why just sit on your rear in Jeuno doing nothing? If you hate LFG all the time, play Beastmater. (tho, most don't have the skill/resolve for that.. :) ... or learn how to use beastmaster to level your main job, then just swich to your proper sub when you get an invite.

What I am trying to say (before you get hung on the BST thing and lose my point) is DON'T JUST SIT THERE, Do something!! You'd be suprised how fast that 'Johndoe invites you to his party' message pops up.

Ultimately, it's SE's game, and if they chose to not allow 3rd party programs, what ever that form, then that's their choice. I am sure they know it might cost them a few 12.95's, but that's their decision. If it stops people from doing some of the things I have seen in those videos, yea, I hope they do.

Oh, and BTW, after that 'don't forget your family' screen, there's a second that reads something to the effect 'to play, you must agree to the rules' message. So, if you play, then you agreed; you use windower, you lied: 'nuf said. That's my rant for today.

Couldn't have said it better. The only way to really detect these hooks is client-side, which is a lot of effort, and really isn't worth it. The only thing these guys are doing is disabling whatever hackers, botter, ACtools and FFACT temporarily. Just until they put up some hotkeys or pixel get commands to activate themselves.

I think that what this update to the main string DLL is totally reconfiguring it, or making it harder to crack, that way, they can safely eliminate in time whoever's been doing it. Once you've replaced a string of data, and after an update the game will be unable to run, so whoever's been put on SE's ******** will be separated and be dealt with. Or at least thats what I hope is happening... You never know, after gimping Utsu I dunno what they are thinking of next...

this is just asking to have any game to be hacked. hacking a free will to open any program as you are connected to the server is just making it easy for ahckers to load whatever hacking/tool programs they want.

with you not being able to tab out and open otehr programs it makes it easier for SE to block these programs. if you are not connected to the FFXI server and are trying to connect with one of these programs on. they can easily just shut the program off automatically. but with you connected to FFXI and be able to load these programs it makes it much harder to block or disable it.

I'm really not quite sure what the hell's wrong with being able to tab out of the program. That's the only thing I use windower for, and it's the same with most people I talk to. Some of the new stuff in version 3.2 I don't agree with and don't think are necessary. It's starting to get to where the windower program is a cheating program, and SE is catching on. Really, though, I think they should just get a clue and fix their own program so that players won't need to use a hack to do something so simple as press Alt+tab without crashing the game, or to check things, such as websites that are supported by and linked to on the pol website without having to stop everything they are doing in game. Hello?! Hey, SE, that's all we want! Fix that and you will have fixed a MAJOR portion of your "third party software" problems.

Murzade is right. why are people bothering with hacks/windower to play this. half the fun of an rpg is to think about the game and problems that arise in it. i dont use any of it and i dont see the point. sure ive wanted to use it for nm hunting but i havent. if people stopped using all the 3rd party software we wouldnt have a problem with it now, would we?

Really, SE should just hire this Archbell guy. He has great ideas on how to make the game better. Personally, I don't really use windower since I have my laptop running next to my monitor whenever I'm playing, but if I didn't I would be using windower constantly.

I've said it Once, and I'll say it again, Leave the Windower Functional. Being able to work on Systems and manage my LAN while LFP is Essecial for me to actually be able to stay Logged in.

Multi-tasking is not Cheating, and if you have a problem with people running Cheats / hacks, the Windower should be the least of your Concerns. Other game companies package Windowed Functionality right "Out-of-the-box", no 3rd Party tools needed.

If you want to seriously prevent people from running a 3rd PT Windower, someone needs to get on the Ball @ SE, and give us Players an Official Display option to run Windowed.
