Yah gotta wonder... what would it be like if you go up against king behemoth, or Vrtra or something, and learn Spike Flail, or Meteor? that would be awsome.. or 10,000 Needles >_>! lol! also, think of this... i think SE knows if they got those abilities, it would be to powerful.. maybe their 2hour makes the ability they use to its fulliest potential? like 10,000 Needles will do.. well.. 10,000 ? >_> just an idea..

Or it could be the bad part... where the 2hour is what you use to gain the ability...
RE: Think
# Sep 30 2005 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
My thoughts on this were the blu would prolly get a % each lvl up for being able to aquire the skills. and like the 2hr would automatically memorize the next skill used on you or would make it better chance ya know?

Would be interesting if SE made it so only level 60+ can start the new job's flag quests.

I'd thought about that too. Instead of making it an extra job.. make it like a "super job" or something avaliable only to 60+ o_O;

Manipulate?
# Sep 30 2005 at 3:00 PM Rating: Decent
In FFVII with the enemy skill materia, to learn passive abilities you had to use an ability called manipulate, gained from a different area, my pint is, that if you want to learn a passive skill from a mob, would you use manipulate? Or would you wait for a frustratingly long time and gamble that it uses that ability?

If their abilities have enough length to them and enough recasting to them, we might see a new tank class coming from blue mages. There are plenty of mob abilities that boost Def, Evasion, magic defense, etc etc. If you can learn a few of them, each one only needs to last 30-40 seconds with a 2-3 minute recast, and be an ability (not an inturruptable spell), and you can just cycle through defenseive abilities which would increase your hate, and sub war for provoke.

Blue Mage... How about this scenario..
Blue Mage learns CURSE!
Engage mob, blue mage uses/casts Curse, ~70% HP/MP loss to the mob, remaining pt members whail on the mob, 2 seconds later mob dead, 200+ xp!
If this is possible, lvling would dramatically speed up.
Blue using TP for magic?
# Sep 30 2005 at 2:26 PM Rating: Decent
I know lots of people have been speculating TP for Blue Mage to use magic, and it could be that. Say 100% TP for Lv 1 Enemy Skills magic, 200% TP for Lv 2, and 300% for Lv 3 Spells.

However, the description some what denies this speculation; "while decimating their
enemies from afar with fell magic mastered from their opponents".

You can't really use TP from "afar". So I speculate it'll be either MP usage or timer based like skills.

TP would be nice, but if you can take down foes from afar, it won't be TP based spells/skills.

Ranged attacks? TP can definitely be used from a range. I'd agree with speculation that it'll be TP based, though higher TP% may just increase the damage / duration of effect for the ability they use against the mob.

yes but if you are afar how are you going to get tp really, that is assuming this is a sword/scimitar weilding class. and i doubt that ppl will run close to get tp and try to run away and use their tp to hit the mob especially if they soloing.

Wow. I can't believe how many RDM are complaining about "how tough it will be with invites." I have a THF68 character. My roommate has a RDM58 character. I sit LFP for 3 hours then give up and go farm. He tells four blind invites {I'm sorry. I'm busy now.} thirty seconds after logging on. I don't think I've ever seen a RDM with his flag up when doing a /sea all inv. I don't complain about invites, so please don't either.

Anyway, I am stoked about BLU too, and don't see it as replacing RDM in all honesty. But what about the other job classes? There has been hint of a Geomancer class being added as well. I REALLY liked this class in FFT and have long thought that this game really lent itself to a Geomancer job.

I picture many ways that the Geomancer might work:
-Ability to use the terrain on which the mob is standing to create an elemental attack/status effect (ie. when on stone, uses a Break-type petrify/earth attack)
-Ability to use the terrain on which the player is standing to create an elemental buff (ie. when on water, uses an Aquaveil buff)
-Ability to use the current weather to create an elemental attack (ie. in Gloom weather can use a Drain attack)
-Ability to use the current day to create an elemental attack (ie on Firesday uses Fire/Burn)
-Ability to use the current direction faced to create an elemental attack (ie when facing sout-east, towards Garuda's constellation, you can drop a Wind-based shooting star on the mob)
-Ability to use the current moon phase to restore HP/MP (at a ratio depending on the phase, ie on a Full Moon restore 50%HP/0%MP and on a New Moon restore 0%HP/50%MP)
-Ability to use the current terrain to summon an elemental (ie. on metal summon a Lightning Elemental)
-etc etc etc

I think this job would be very interesting and relatively easy to implement using the games existing programming. Any thoughts?

Rumors are, Geomancer will be a magic based tanking job...

Apparently, depending on the type of weather there is where you are partying, you get an automatic buff put on you...

Earth weather > Stoneskin
Fire weather > Blaze Spikes
Wind weather > Blink
etc...

just rumors..

I have a LOT of speculations on how BLU will be played. (I drive home thinking bout this stuff.. sad huh?)

Anywho, though a TP based abbility job would work nicely to keep it from being "overpowered" I believe it will use MP for the abbilities as a new spell class of "Blue Magic." And with my thinking, I just couldn't see how the BLU would "learn" an abbility like they are supposed to. So I'm guessin SE will set job lvls and make scrolls for certain mob abbilities like all other spells. Yeah, it sounds bad.. and it could be overpowered.. BUT there are tweeks SE can make to keep it from being to strong.

As with all (well, most) abilities and magic, they are bassed on a general stat that your character has in order to imrpove the effectiveness of the abbility or spell. So, all SE has to do is set the proper cast/recast timmers, set a stat to base the spells on (I think CHR will do it, BLU/BRD anyone?) and let the blue fly!! >.>

Also, this will be the first totally meleeable job (yay!) so for any mage who is tired of "sitting in the back and casting away" can get a bit of the hands on approach as well as debuff/damage the mob.

I also have speculations on 2 hours too. BLU 2 hour: Transform. Become a copy of targeted enemy for 30 seconds. Strong, devestating, and just good enough to pull the party out of tough situations while letting BLU keep their monster abbility stealing flair ^^

Anywho.. just my thoughts on the job. I think it would work, but that's just me.

How many people played final Fantasy X?
I have a feeling that the BLU is gonna be alot like Kimari, without the lance, jump and stuff. He will be able to steal CERTAIN enemy abilities and use them in his ******** Im pretty sure this job wont come close to replacing anything on the game now, eitherwise it will be impossible to get a pt considering everybody would be lvling BLU...

Here's my theory on how it'll work. It may be a combination of it being necessary to be a certain level to learn various attacks plus the traditional stipulation that you will have to actually live through said attack in order to learn it and that with the exception of AOE type attacks a mob will have to be targeting the BLU specifically and I'm sure they are either born with or gain some confusion like skill at a reasonably early level that will force a mob to use an attack or self buffing defensive skill on the BLU.

At least that way it would help keep the job in check by not allowing them to gain too much power at low levels by just exploiting a party or grabbing a reraise scroll from town and going all kamikaze on stuff that will murder them just so they can learn abilities.

Since one of the pics appears to be showing the BLU using gob bomb this begs the question will there be the risk of dropping it and looking down at it with an unspoken "oh Sh*t" right before they blow their faces off lol.

I've also thought of how it would work for abilities... cause if you can simply do 1000 needles at 100% TP or with enough MP they're way too powerful (depending on how various abilities are triggered.. i.e. TP vs MP).

Like most other things in FFXI, perhaps they will tie in the elemental days in order to determine what spells/abilities will be available on various days? Just speculation of course, but if you can use the same devastating attacks back to back it's just not going to be as fun.

I have a feeling that you'll get enemy abilities as spells in the same way that everybody else gets spells. At a certain level, the scroll becomes usable, you use it, BAM enemy ability gained. Many mobs throughout different level ranges may start dropping BLU scrolls corresponding to their special moves. In addition, hopefully there will be some rare/ex scrolls that must be quested and obtained from a force-pop NM so that the really cool moves must be earned, not just camped by gil sellers or BCNMed and sold for rediculous sums of money to the people with tons of gil.

The taru in the pics above appears to be doing spider web (slow attack) and either manticore or raptor flame breath attack.

It seems to me that BLU will be a damage/support class like RDM and BLM. There's also a touch of BST there, in that you'll be able to use enemy attacks. However, BLU won't have to worry about needinging a certain mob at the right strength in the vicinity to charm. It's all just speculation for now.

I just can't wait until it comes out so i can gather some more info on how the job actually plays. =\

Everything from the new expansion is leading the way to Arabian felling. From the new Job AF, the Arabain like city and even the Logo font.
Maybe this new citie is just a unknow city for most of vana peoples, and the only way to go there is from Norg. That would explain why no one was able to get there so far. That if you consider the server as a real world. If not, is just a new area and doenst matter if no one know about it before, and the NPC will act like the city was there forever.

I would say much more likely 'lost during/after the Crystal War' rather than 'unknown'.

After the re-introduction of Tavnazia to the 'populated world' of Vanadiel, SE set a precedent in the story line leaving the possibility of other civilized parts of the world that existed before the Crystal War that had also lost contact with the 'populated world'. I think that's likely what the explanation of these expansion areas will be as well. My guess is that they will introduce the new area as having been 're-discovered' by the Tenshodo and/or other pirates.

maybe you will need a starting ability (like BST charm) to be able to learn a mob ability with a recast timer, which by knowing SE will pobably be something crazy like 24 hrs lol

It'll be Norg.

Nevermind that that stupid guy has been blocking the path to the Norg dock since the Outlands were added to the game, but I don't see SE requiring advancement in a previous set of expansion missions to begin the new expansion. You could start Promathia without being anywhere in the game. Zilart was the only one with a requirement mainly because by the time it came out, pretty near everyone currently playing had already achieved Rank 6 as there wasn't much else to do, and the story had some ties to the original that wouldn't entirely make sense without the full back story. You'll launch the expansion with a Mission involving Norg though it may not start there, and you'll likely need to finish a MIssion or two before access to the new city, and I imagine there's a new city area, just like you do for Promathia. Of course SE could go in another direction and make this expansion and the new areas more easily reached than the CoP areas were. Perhaps the new job classes will even be key in a Mission or even unlocked through one.
