Changes to Merit Points

The maximum number of merit points a player may use in each adjustable status category will be increased in the next version update! The maximum number of usable merit points will increase in all categories in the following manner. Combo total and sub-categories: HP/MP Attributes Combat skills Magic skills Others Combo total only: Individual job categories With this adjustment, players may reach their maximum potential possible with the Chains of Promathia expansion disc. Furthermore, the FINAL FANTASY XI development team is already working to expand the merit point system for "Treasures of Aht Urhgan." Adjustments to make new magic spells and abilities available through the use of merit points are planned for the new expansion disc. SE are definately listening to what players want now, people said before they wanted spells, weapon skills and abilities you have to unlock and here they gave it us. Same as DRG update, people said to do it before and they listened. The more merits is just a way to keep people playing though. Let's keep saying what we want and they will listen :p SE give us Geomancer in expansion pack!

They probably would not add Refresh II because if they did they would have to add Balad III and the combination of these two would make a too high of a refresh rate.

The only way that I could see them adding it is if were to cost about 10 merrits. It would be too powerfull if it were to be any lower.

As I thought, this is the way the tier 2 AM and Tier IV ga's and tier V spells for BLM will appear! Awsome!

Does anyone other than me forsee this being simply another way to widen the gap between the hardcore players and the average joe "casual" gamers even further?

Sorry to urst your bubble, bro, but that's precisely what they're doing. I think it's kinda cheap, but it's really an excellent way to "raise the level cap" without having to readjust the whole endgame (gods, HNMs, etc.) and ***** the people who might be just coming into it.
