Man... I live in Mississippi, and it's realy not that far for me, but with my current financial situation... Let's jsut say I couldn't even afford 15 bucks to play during december. I sure hope I somehow get the cash to go. I haven't been to any FFXI events yet. I sure hope things start to look up enough for me to go, I would realy love to meet some of the people that I have played with. That would be so cool. I am on the Unicorn server, and have been playing for almost 2 years now. Made a LOT of friends. Keep your fingers crossed for me everyone. My birthday is March 8th, so maybe I can talk my parents and relatives to set it up for me. Wish me luck! I hope to see all of you there if I can get lucky enough to go!
Good journey to all!

I think the reason they're holding it in CA is cause it's a 12-15 hr flight accross sea to get from japan to LA so they get JA + NA ppl

I'm in FL and I would love to attend an event like this. Maybe in the future they will hold something like that closer to the east coast.

Any of you who can go... I'm jealous, lol. Make sure you take advantage of the opportunity. I'm a BST, so any W. coast BSTs say something about the nerfing update. Don't complain, just make a suggestion or 10, lol.

I'm looking forward to some of the west coast postings after this event is over. Have fun!! You lucky bass turds!!

Boo Hoo! Be glad most of you are on the same continent! We Europeans have no chance of ever going to the event (trust me I could probably get 2 Xbox 360's for the price of just the plane ticket and the event ticket alone). Be glad it's held in the US - technically with SE been a japanese company it could very well have been held over there. Like it was said earlier the in-game item is probably something decorative than pratical, you'll probably be able to watch the Ballista final video on-line and anyone wanting to see the new expansion pack and has a 360 - the beta comes out in Feb and from what I hear is been given away free with a magazine!
March?
# Dec 20 2005 at 2:37 AM Rating: Decent
Wait, so the World Premier of Aht Urghan is going to be in MARCH? I kept hearing it was going to be sooner than that. Well, damn.
California, yay!

I'm glad this is coming to California, I'll have to drive maybe 2 hours to go to this ^^. However, while every one is complaining about it being in Cali, has anyone thought about the choice for dates? March 9-11. Thats a Thursday-Sat. Its not even during the whole weekend. The only way they're gonna get the best turn out is if it just so happens to coincide with everyone's spring breaks. But even that is unlikely.

Bah, all you East coasters keep complaining about the event not being near you. What about us west coasters who can't afford the money or time to go to it when we live several states away? >.>

ingame items: 99 Tarutaru ricecake.. yum!
atleast SE could...
# Dec 19 2005 at 10:40 PM Rating: Decent
The least SE could do is hit major cities with this like LA Chitown ATL and NYC. You hit all your premises right there West Coast Midwest South and East Coast wouldn't that make atleast more people happy? If I would consider going, but of course that $85 would just putting more of our money in their pockets so I don't think I'll shell $85 for just an in-game item that may not be worth it.

Found an interesting quote

I bolded jobs because that pretty much says BLU isn't the only job being added. I'm intrigued now as to what they could be makes me want to stick on XI.

In Game Special Item
# Dec 19 2005 at 6:58 PM Rating: Decent
for those of you upset that you too cant get the ingame special item cause its on the west coast... Well if you REALLY want it bad enough. the website says you dont have to attend to get it. Just pay the 85$ for the ticket and give them your correct player name and server and BAM! you have the item... but do you REALLY want it that bad?
I'd like to go

Hmmm, I'm interested into assiting to that Event. The thing is that my friend and I are Spanish and have no idea of where to go, to sleep or eat. lol. If someone near that place is thinking into going to the event and want to help us (Give us a bed or a floor to sleep =P) I'd be grateful. We can pay. Interested: send me an email please: (nagash_server_of_malkav@msn.com)
Maybe is still soon, but our journey is long and expensive, if we could get some help and we could start preparing somthing, that'll be fantastic. Thank you.

<sigh>.. -_-;
you all make it sound like SE is -trying- to shaft you all just because it happens to be in a single location and not 'everywhere' for everyone to enjoy. :\ i wont even get into the logistical nightmare that would be, much less the financial kick in the *** it would entail.
now granted, i wish it were closer to where i live too. i really wanna go. :< but im not gonna lose any sleep knowing that i prolly wont make it because of where it is and how much it costs. and like sasukenin said.. they cant make everyone happy. "try to make everyone happy, and youll end up making nobody happy." but they do what they can, and im appreciative for that alone.

thats my 2 gil in the pot ^^
meh

i didnt say i thought it was stupid to have it on the west coast, im just saying i would have really liked to attend this wonderful event because its sounds real cool and fun. and obviously SE cant make everyone happy. i said they should do something about it, not really being serious because im sure its hela expensive to set even one up. anyway, its during the march break so maybe i can go if i round up a posse, i wanted to go on a trip anyways.
Here is why it is in the West Coast.
# Dec 19 2005 at 3:07 PM Rating: Decent
Being from Alabama, I don't see much action here anyways. Hardly anything comes through these parts. Yes I know this is country dialect so SHUT YOUR CAKE HOLE!

Anywho the point it is on the West Coast is because Japanese SE employees, spokesmen, etc. all come from Japan, which is in the EAST. Now, to get to America all they have to do is travel East till they reach here. Which will be California.

California is used to this more so than the East Coast, because we get European travelers more often than they do. Now who wants to fly all across the world to the East coast when the West Coast is much closer? Nobody.

So my point is, either be glad they decided to fly over here, and actually listen to people who play the game in the west coast, who also have the same problems as us. Or shell out those savings and fly to the convention and pay for your ticket and walk in. People who wanted the X-Box 360 had more dedication than most of you.

Now I agree I wish it'd be over here too, but I don't want to make it a hassel for anyone. Besides, you know they aren't going to get a weapon, or any beneficial armor. They are most likely going to get furniture or some festival type apparel like the Dream Robe.

Well if they had it on the East Coast, the West Coasters would be upset about it. If they had it in Canada, the Americans would be upset. If they had it in Mexico, everyone would be upset. Japan, America and Canada would be upset. I, living in Washington State, would still have to buy a plane ticket, unless I wanted to drive 15-20 hours. Hopefully they'll start mixing it up in the future, so everyone can have a chance to attend one of these events. Saying that everyone on the West Coast can attend this is like someone from another country saying "Come see me, I'm in America right now!" It's the same for me in WA as it is for someone in PA, who also has to take a plane to get there and get a hotel.
