Announcing Zam.com

Allakhazam is pleased to announce that we have added several new sites to our network and have joined them together to form the Zam.com Network which is now instantly the leading content destination for all MMO gamers. The new Zam.com Network will consist of newly expanded and improved versions of Allakhazam.com and Thottbot.com. In addition, the assets and content of OGaming.com (and the interface sites) and L2Orphus.com will be integrated into the existing Allakhazam network. This will add multiple new games to our site, more than double our personnel and give us the flexibility to add more features, better service and expanded coverage. In the coming months, we will be upgrading our server infrastructure, expanding our news and editorial coverage, adding sites for more games, and designing even better database services. We are committed to making this the premier destination for the entire MMORPG community. If you wish to discuss this in our forums, please go to this link. (Zam.com was recently purchased and is still in transition, so going there now will just bring up a blank page. Give it a few days before anything appears there)

I have to say, it's total ********* and while I won't drop my account (yet, i've lost all respect for what I once considered to be a really awesome site - should another site wit hth level of information appear I will certainly never return here again, however as it is alla has somewhat of a monopoly on everquest information sites. If the prices go up I will most definatly not renew my account regardless...

Auto renew is now off, and I will no longer make any submissions. Sorry, but I can't support plat sellers/cheaters. Thanks for being a good site for so long, Alla.
Note sure what this means for me

I am a member, as long as I can get good info on the zones, mobs, drops, ect I really don't care who owns them. I have have summited in the past items and plan to contine. But if the price goes up I might change my mind.
New site coming up to replace?

I wonder if this will make room for another site with the same features that we all use every day here on Allakhazam, and on Thottbot... or if we will all forget this in a week, and use it even though we don't want to
Damn this sucks

Been premium here for quite a while... turning off autorenewal now. I don't do anything to support game destroying businesses, even peripherally. The reason I supported Alla with my membership was BECAUSE he was not associated with the "farmers".

Edit -- I may turn renewal back on, will give Alla a chance to show he is not supporting the famer networks.

Notice that it is the Zam network?

Doesn't Alla play a character named Zaam?

Eerie the similiarity. LOL

Either way, I have turned off my auto-renew.

I hope this deal was a profitable one for you Alla.

I no longer care what my karma rating is here now. Blast away.

I'm not upset really that you are now owned by a plat seller. I'm more upset that you would go into business with a company that you blasted on many occasions. And repeatedly said that you would NEVER do business with them.

I dont see how you guys DARE insult these guys, they gave us all this information for FREE. OK so some people paid a small amount to get premium but that amount is negligable. If you were offered a substantial amount of money you know you would take it in a flash. Even if no money was offered, moving into a larger company will mean that more people will turn to this site. If you dont like it, we dont care, leave quietly.

Well the issue here is that while Allakhazam hosted the site, paid for the bandwith, and sorted the data (all of which costs a lot of money), the data itself was almost exclusively submitted by (non-paid) players and without that data this site would be worthless. I have supported Allakhazam financially (through donations and membership) and with information on the game. While I am still debating about the financial support (I have another month or so on my membership), I will no longer be submitting information. I fear that there will be a lot of people who feel the same about contributing information which will make this site less useful for new content.

(Money wise, I can understand Allakhazam's stance. It's hard to turn down the big dollars)
Deleting an account?

So where can I go to delete my account thing here? I don't have the premium stuff just the basic login. I'd like to get rid of it so my inbox is flooded with gold, gil, plat, and other currency crap.

Sorry guys, you must know how companies like IGE add to the total inflation of in game economy. Ultimately money talks and no matter how much we want IGE to be unsuccessful it is and there are mother-fers who pay for this. Its a matter of supply and demand.
Sad day

I have also un-clicked my auto renew option after my subscription runs out I will not be comming back to this site. This has been my favorite site since I started playing 6 years ago too bad it has now gone to the dogs but I will not support farmers/PLers/Platsellers.

So long old friend it has been a slice.

Before agreeing to anything like this, I wanted to make sure that there would be no interaction between those divisions and that I would have complete control over the new network

Interaction or no, that is like me saying I hate Ford! and yet go and buy a Jaguar. Ford owns Jaguar now, and because of that, there is a noticable Ford influence on Jaguar products. The same will end up here. They will get you nice and cozy, and through the convienent loopholes you fail to see in the contract (And their Lawyers made sure they would be there), IGE's influence will be felt here as well.

Even if the deal doesnt go sour in the end, I believe the perception is whats gonna hurt you in the end. You will be tied to the hip of a gillseller and you will loose respect. By reading the posts on this, I think the level of respect has already dropped. More importantly, the most vocal respondersare those who have given you money for accounts...you know, the ones you should really listen to?

Ah well, what do I know. Your wallet just got a bit fatter, so {Congratulations!}. Hope it lasts when IGE notices that your account base has dwindled to nothing, and that keeping you attached to them is costing them money therefore shutting you down.

The massive majority of gamers really don't give a **** about IGE and online currency sales. You think this is gonna ruin this site? Give your head a shake.

Interesting. I've know IGE owned Thottbot for quite a while now, but didn't want to post about it. I knew they were advertising on ogaming at one point, but didn't realize they had bought them outright. IGE tried to buy us a while ago and when we refused to have anything to do with them vowed to create a network to rival ours. Looks like they are on their way to doing so. I suggest you spread the word so others know about this too. I know people playing EQ2 would be interested in this info too.

Ok so you didn't say you would "never" let IGE buy you...but wasn't that implied when you told users of this site to warn other of IGE's plan?

Don't you get it? They want to buy out all MMO Fan sites so that no matter where I go they profit...

You don't get it.
just plug your wallets in here.
