Battle System Adjustments 3/5/07

Battle System Adjustments (03/05/2007)

In the upcoming version update, we plan to introduce two new dark knight spells, as well as implement changes to Signet that will improve party play for smaller groups.

Signet Bonuses

The adjustments made to improve player accuracy and attack versus monsters of a higher level, as well as the measures implemented to benefit full parties and prevent unfair pulling practices, have made it difficult for smaller groups to cooperate efficiently against weaker opponents.

In order to address this issue, the following bonuses will be added to the Signet effect in the upcoming version update:
- Increased Healing HP
- No TP loss while resting
- Bonus experience earned in smaller parties
- Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target

- Increased Healing HP
The initial value for Healing HP (based on the character's level), as well as the incremental jumps in Healing HP (based on the character's maximum HP), will be increased.
This change will improve Healing HP in a similar fashion to the bonus granted to Healing MP by the Clear Mind job trait.

- No TP loss while resting
While this bonus is in effect, TP will not be lost while resting.
This will allow players to rest fully for their next battle while still maintaining the store of TP they had built from their previous opponent.

- Bonus experience in small groups
The amount of experience earned while in smaller parties will be increased.
This bonus will be applied on the following scale:

*The experience earned for defeating special monsters will remain unaffected.

- Increased defense and evasion against attacks from your auto-attack target
Players will gain a bonus to their defense and evasion against their auto-attack target.

This bonus only applies to attacks from an opponent who you are auto-attacking with a drawn weapon. There is no effect against attacks from other sources, including monsters that unexpectedly join the fray.
*This bonus will only apply to monsters that check as "even match" or weaker to the player.

The bonuses described above will only take effect when a player has received Signet, and is within the usual Signet-specific areas.
These bonuses do not apply during Ballista, or other PvP events.

New Dark Knight Spells

The following dark knight spells will be introduced in the upcoming version update.

- Drain II (Lv.62 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute)
Steals an enemy's HP, potentially increasing maximum HP. Ineffective against undead.

HP drained that exceeds the amount necessary to fully heal the dark knight will temporarily boost maximum HP.
As well as healing the dark knight, this spell should prove useful in providing extra HP for abilities such as Souleater.

- Dread Spikes (Lv.71 Recast Time: 3 minutes Duration: 1 minute)
Covers you with magical darkness spikes. Steals HP from enemies that hit you. Ineffective against undead.

While Dread Spikes is in effect, the dark knight will drain an amount of HP from an enemy corresponding to the amount of damage inflicted by each of the enemy's attacks.
Dread Spikes will wear off after the dark knight has absorbed an amount of HP equal to a certain percentage of his maximum HP, regardless of the remaining duration.

*The effect of Dread Spikes will be adjusted during PvP.

The HP absorbed by the reactive effect of Dread Spikes will not generate enmity for the dark knight.
*The dark knight will still be KO'd if a single attack inflicts an amount of damage that exceeds his remaining HP.

This update to signet is mediocre at best. The xp bonus isn't that great. At least not enough to make people go "Ohh let's go kill deco's in sky!" instead of killing the imps, flies, and Jnuns in the mire. Those weapons in sky can't even be killed as effectively as the mobs can in the mire. Hell, I can solo Jnun's as Drg/Rdm...

I really like the increased HP while healing thing. I suggested it months ago on the Feedback/Suggestion forum, so it's cool to actually see it implemented.

SE is getting better...

Looks like my drk buddy will be happy with update... I like the conquest bonuses and the small party bonuses. These should be great for jobs that get limited to alot of soloing and/or duoing. The tp update.. well.. not many melee rest anymore besides ones that use mp. I think its great for soloing as a smn that uses staff while atacking. (Always hate resting 96 tp away once mob is dead) These r great for lower lvl non merit pts I think but its likely 6 man pts wont stop and will still prefer sanction/xp bonus areas.
hell ya!
# Mar 06 2007 at 12:11 AM Rating: Decent
man they've really done it this time. no holds barred eh? fricken awesome! makes signet areas and sanction areas equally popular, creating a balance! also I think the additional spells for DRK will prove to be extremeley useful.

to whoever doesn't have faith in SE's intentions, come lick my figs byatches!
What?!? Again? No holding back this time...

Well Warriors, They did it again, I guess were not as "Great" as they say we are. No new abilities, No New Attributes, No Exclusive Weapons or Armor to our Job, Were again just noted (in the background) as Original Sub-Jobs. WHY S.E. Why?!? We are the hardest working, less appreciated, Forced Duel wielding, Grunts in this game. Yet were don't even get 'Auto-Regen'(1), How about a EX/RARE cape that make others Awe and drool and wish that they can have that? Why are We left out ever...single...time? Here's my idea. We were 'Invented' Solely as a Sub-Job, and just in case we decide to 'Push the envelope' there are a few things that we can have, like the ignored and hated step children that we are. Thrown scraps of 'Ability' like Provoke. and make our job so Universal, we can be subbed with almost any job.
Like Paladin, They have a Great defense with or with out magic. But take the 'Provoke' away. I dare ya! See how that meat-punching-bag lasts in a party. Why not get him to sub Monk? Why not? He has a 'Hp Boost' That should help, and the VIT added should make him all the more harder to Kill.
Or why not have the DKN sub RDM? ...And why not, They would have 'Fast Cast', Higher enfeebling, sounds good right? 'Riiiight'
And lets not forget our friend the SAM. Yes with his ability to Store Tp, Higher STR/ATK with a 2-handed weapon, able to do many things. Why not sub him with BLU? ...And why not? Not only they can beat-down a target, but cast a BLU spell between attacks.

===I Digress, I'm sorry. Where was I? Oh yes.....

S.E. Give us Warriors a fair shake, would you please? It's not hard really. Here let me give you some tips:
1) 'Auto-Regen'= We all know what that is.

2) 'Recoil'= A job ability that upon our next attack will be a Critical and knock-back affect. (Can only be used with a Great Axe)

3)'Field Affect'= A Job Ability that gives the Activated Job ability to any chosen party member. Example: I have just used 'Warrior's Charge' and before I can use it, I give it to The SAM.(Or the entire party all at once.)

4) 'Elemental Strike'= A Job Ability(or new '2-hour'). The Warrior's Attack will be made entirely a elemental attack, the element will be based on the day.

There. That wasn't so hard now was it. Now go back into that little cubical you call a office, make a proposal to the Head cheese, Make a in-game video of the affect (not too flashy). and let us Faithful Warrior Step Children Know if anything good or bad came of it.

===OK people. You may start Burning me now. I said my piece for now.===
What?!? Again? No holding back this time...

Yeah, um, No...
WAR's are the only job who can (on average) keep up with my damage. I'm also a DRG <.< Also a PLD too, but that's aside for now.
To the other guy who replied, subbing /NIN is one thing he complained about, and not a necessity. I've seen fine WAR's who use a GAxe and can do great damage. Infact, the only thing good about subbing /NIN is merit, dual Vikings, and Ridill... and only merit cause ya'll trying to kill it ASAP and you can't use the proper abilities to take a hit.
While I'm at it, I'm gonna complain about all you non-tank WAR's. You CAN tank it's just that you don't gear yourself for it. You all go offensive. Going defensive and using *gasp* Defender and you could tank! You can still sub /NIN or hell, even /MNK if you want. I've done it... Successfully I might add. (As /mnk that is)
Also, I can think of quite a few jobs that can do without /war (except before 30, we have no choice then :p) /sam, /thf, and /mnk definitely work +30.
I suppose endgame... merits... have fun with that. I really don't see anything WAR's need extra stuff for. I'm glad DRK's got this, makes me want to play it more. Makes me like them more too, (Since SAM and BLU can do their job just as well and probably better, something I say about DRG too, so don't think I'm job-ist)
What?!? Again? No holding back this time...

have you ever seen a ridill war before?
Seen one in action?
I mean a good one who can even hit evasive mobs with his trusty off hand ridill?

eh..
to make these guys more powerfull would be a joke lol!!
You want war to be stronger get some merits and sub nin!
What?!? Again? No holding back this time...

Well Well Well, I see....Aww man, I see. You don't Think Warriors need anything hu? Well I'll ask you guys this. Have you ever seen a defense Minded Warrior? Have you seen a Tanked Armored, Great Axe Wielding, Monk subbing Warrior, Tanking in a Merit Party? or A Normal Party? Or in anything on a regular basis? (72-75)
I'm on Bahumut, I have never seen a Warrior dressed as anything close to a 'Tank Type'...Ever. I you asked any 'Professional Warrior' to Get his tank gear on, Lets see how much of a "Change" he can set him/her self in 5 minutes. It just doesn't happen.
As to Reply to (thorazinekizzez) Power? That is not what I was talking about, but the Attributes we Warriors should have, but don't. Like that SAM, and his many abilities, We Warriors should have the (2-Handed Enhancement Trait) First. Or share it, like we do with (Defensive Bonus) with PAL. Also Subs like (/Nin) or whatever does not concern me either.
For months, We Warriors been Ignored as to the 'Abilities' or enhancements. We mostly depend on the Armor and Weapons, and apply our hard earned skills to work with what we got. I know we are the Balance of both Strength and Defensive traits, But parties are not looking for A "Balance" or a "Textbook Warrior"...They are looking for either a Tank that can take a hit, or a Damage Dealer that make the monster turn it's head in pain. All I'm asking for (Not that it will be considered) is that Give us a little to work with. {{ As mentioned in my last Text}}

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out

Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't, Don't, Don't, Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling down

Will you recognize me?
Call my name, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling down

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't, Don't, Don't, Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?

hmm with the new spells i dont know why i would think this but i wonder how low you could get the timers on the spells wiht haste and /rdm ^^; lol though it would probably be best during solo i know not to do that in parties
Dragoon soloing areas
# Mar 05 2007 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
What do you think?
Dragoon/mage soloing exp/merit:
In Aht Urgan areas, you can get sanction refresh, exp bonus.
In Signet areas, you get increased defense and evasion, no tp loss while resting, faster HP regeneration while healing.

Which is more advantageous?
Drain II/Dread spikes...
# Mar 05 2007 at 4:29 PM Rating: Decent
This will make DRK one of the higher DD classes again, if it improves their life significantly.

Drain II sounds like a good spell you can couple with Drain. Also with Dread spikes. I'm glad they did this. Maybe they can make DRG get something fun like this.

I've never seen a DRG in my parties in a LONG time. Except for when it's a Solo/Duo PT.

Signet change, I hope this also includes sanction, and does not cost CP (Though I have 80k CP and nothing to spend on...) This would make me solo Colibri/spiders, (EP-EM Monsters Solo) a little easyer.

Last and not least... hHP+. That's awesome, maybe my HP can heal a BIG chunk so I don't have to toss Regen III or Cure V on myself to make my HP full after healing. (Weakend or >100hp/mp. /heal)
stop complaining peoples!

Nearly everyone would prefer to have a NIN tank their experience party than a PLD. This goes or merit parties as well. However, people are quick to have a PLD tank Besieged or Dynamis, yet when it comes time to join the merit parties, we're left out. I have been playing this game for 3 years and here are the reasons why 'lolpld' is a popular phrase:

1) The job ability 'Sentinel'. The improvement you (SE) made to it was great.
The description of Sentinel is: "Reduces physical damage taken and increases
enmity" Sounds great, but it seems that you have seriously overlooked
something. Why are PLDs still given the ability 'Guardian' in the group 2
job ability merit section? If sentinel is supposed to increase enmity, why
is Guardian supposed to "Reduce enmity loss while using Sentinel"? What an
incredible waste.

2) As useless as Guardian is, Chivalry is our only marginally satisfactory group
2 merit ability. Compare PLD's group 2 abilities to any other job's group 2
abilities. It's a joke. And while you're at it, group 1 isn't very
impressive either, in comparison to the other jobs.

3) PLD back pieces. Lvl 60 Knightly Mantle. Great. Except that was 15 lvls
ago. Why is it that all other jobs have a back piece at the Auction House
they can purchase after lvl 60 that pertains to their jobs? PLD is forced
to upgrade only through Dynamis.

4) PLD's max evasion and parrying skills. They are too low. Raising this would
help PLDs be more comparable to NINs. In fact it's probably the single most
effective thing you can do for us.

5) Koenig/Kaiser armor. Great. It's good stuff, sure. But ever try to tank in
that while in a merit party? It's useless. Of course every other job has
great armor they can obtain with abjurations.

6) Why on earth do you feel it's necessary to include -evasion and -agility on
PLD armor such as Adaman or Ares Plate. As mentioned in reason 4, those
skills are capped low as it is and you feel more needs to be removed? Pfft.

7) Ares Plate Armor. Total of evasion -19, INT-3 and MND-3. You are aware that
that vorpal blade, swift blade and savage blade weapon skills all have MND as
a damage factor? Not to mention the other benefits MND has. And INT-3?
Why? And evasion -19? Are you kidding me?
If a PLD were to get this armor, what advantage would it give over other
players wearing it also? That's right, WAR, DRK and DRG can also equip it.
So how does PLD come out ahead? All enmity+ is gone. You expect any tank
(PLD or NIN) to be able to keep hate againsty a WAR, DRK, or DRG equipped
with this? At least NINs get enmity+5 with their Usukane feet. Must be
nice. -_-

8) PLD can equip Kirin's pole, but not Kirin's osode. Rediculous. As useful as
it would be for a PLD, we're once again denied. And expected to tank against
those than can equip it. Try to keep hate off of a MNK lately?

9) NIN can outdamage a PLD easily. Another main reason NINs are overwhelmingly
preferred. Even though PLDs have among the highest base STR of any job.

10)Magic defense. A NIN's shadows can defend against both physical and magical
attacks. Of course there are some exceptions, but it still works out greatly
superior to a PLD. Why is it that PLD fails so badly at defending against
magic? Afterall isn't a PLD supposed to keep party members from being
attacked and then live to do it again? Yet magic is so incredibly crippling.
Shell IV would be a realistic start, although nowhere close to a solution.

lol alright, there are my top 10. there are more reasons but i've enough of a rant for now. if you're a PLD, i'm sure you can relate fairly well to the
above. if not, i'm sure you've seen many reasons listed that explain why you
invited a NIN to your experience/merit party today.
Hopefully you're looking at PLD?

If your PLD doesn't get pick-up merit parties, go get one with friends from your LS. 9 times out of 10 they work out to be more fun and beneficial anyway. lolpld doesn't come from people generally shunning the job, it comes from the amount of fools still insistant a full VIT setup is the way to tank in merits. A good PLD who is set up with the right mix of tank/DD gear can contribute just as well as a NIN, and with Cover, allow much more legroom for the melees to go full out.

Read the description. They complement each other perfectly. If you use Sentinel along with other JAs such as Provoke to create a hate spike, Guardian ensures that hate spike is maintained at a near constant rate, whereas without it would diminish. In merits, this is integral to our style of tanking and hate management. To be able to have a mob hit nothing but you while the melees go full out can mean the difference between getting that last chain, and stops many DDs from becoming an all out MP sponge.

Dorren wrote:

In merits, you use your MP to keep hate more than anything else, at least from my experience. If you're DDing as say PLD/NIN, you become self sufficient. Flash, Cure bombs, the works. With Auto-Refresh, Sanction, Parade Gorget, Ballad and Refresh you should never have to run out of MP. Chivalry just offers that little bit extra in terms of security should your MP get low or your RDM happens to suck. It's certainly not a joke, and has it's uses in merits.

Of course, I think you neglect that our merit abilities are designed with tanking in mind. You're ******** about how our merit abilities suck in one specific area across a broad spectrum. I myself adore having max Sentinel and Guardian merits because they are that helpful in many situations across a wider scale. Granted, Feality and Iron Will aren't the best in the world, but Heck, you're not exactly forced to put points into them are you?

Amemet Mantle +1? Foragers Mantle? High Breath Mantle (wait, thats under 60, so by your logic that doesn't count)? Hell, even Cerberus Mantle for the e-peen? That's stuff you can buy straight off the AH that would benefit your PLD in merits many, many times over than Knightly ever could. Forager's, Amemet, and Cerberus are there to increase your dmg output. High Breath purely for the Emnity. I'm honestly beginning to think you're one of those Adaman onry PLDs. Why the Hell would you use Knightly in merits anyway?

Dorren wrote:

That's why we got Shield Mastery. We don't NEED evasion in merit parties seeing as our shields negate the damage for us. When you're fighting VT mobs in Bhaflau Thickets your Shield will be negating one Hell of a lot of damage. After all, it's not like you're fighting Kirin. You shouldn't even have to care about evasion in merits seeing as the mobs you fight will not cause any kind of major problem damage wise to a decently geared/meritted PLD. Only exception to that I can think of are Wyverns in Bhaflau Thickets, which you prolly want a more HP/DEF based setup to handle because of Fang Rush. If you're that concerned about evasion and true damage negation, go /NIN and hide behind your shadows. Simple.

Dorren wrote:

If you're using Koenig/Kaiser gear in merits, no wonder people are calling you a lolpld. Koenig is the most overrated tanking gear in the whole game in my opinion, bar say, Schaller for the Shield skill. It will do nothing in merits but hinder you and your party wearing it, and make you nothing but wasted space with a ton of VIT, DEF and HP which you don't even need. You can just stand there and shake your e-peen a bit.

As has been said, if you're desperate for PLD Abj gear for merits go get the N stuff. Or you could invest in a DD setup from the AH/Limbus/etc which will benefit you and your party many times over.

Dorren wrote:

Again, you use Adaman in merits, you're basically telling your party that you're an idiot. You do not need max VIT, DEF, MP or +Evasion to tank VT mobs that will die in less than a minute. Get some decent DD gear, add some emnity gear in there (use AF if you're that desperate, it's much better than Adaman anyway) and you're set to go.

Are's gear (whilst looking stupidly emo on a PLD) you must surely see why it's so coveted. The entire set gives you:

Defense +158
HP +10%
MP +10%
STR +22
DEX +6
VIT +19
AGI +3
INT -3
MND -3
Accuracy +29
Attack +43
Evasion -19
Double Attack +2%
Adds Refresh Effect
Set: Enhances "Double Attack" Effect

If you covet your 19 Evasion, 3 INT and 3 MND (and note you don't actually lose AGI on Ares' like you claim) that much over the other benefits that armour gives, you need your bloomin' head examined. What does a PLD need INT for perchance? ACC+29 and STR+22 turns you into a much more viable DD even just through TP gain - the only thing it lacks is Emnity. Hell, you could even build a similar stat setup with gear just bought off the AH. Hauby, Woodsman Rings, Potent Belt, Homam, you name it. For WS, you macro in gear that helps boost your dmg further, problem solved.

As for your problem with Emnity, you can fix that with simply filling your other gear slots with Emnity+ gear. Resentment Cape, High Breath Mantle, Koenig Shield, Hercules Ring, Hade's Earring, Warwolf Belt - all pieces with additional emnity. Add in Emnity merits to the equation and your case becomes moot.

You don't have to. This is where you use your head as a PLD and use your abilities such as Cover to restore hate, or take advantage of pimped out Sentinel, maybe even Cure bomb the MNK when their HP takes a hit. Simple case is that a MNK going all out (and fully pimped) can take hate off ANYONE. As can pretty much any DD in the game.

Kirin's Osode is nice, but so PLDs need it? No. We got some very nice alternatives such as the Hauby/Amir/Ares' which serves us just as well. Osode works best as a WS piece and that's about it.

Also, why would you EVER use staff in a merit party?

Dorren wrote:

The smartest thing you've said in your entire post, but probably only cos you stated the obvious. A decently equipped PLD DD wise may not be able to outparse a NIN, but we can damn well keep up with them and contribute. Of course, with Adaman and Koenig you got no hope.

Ever heard of Rampart?

Again, in the context of merits, Rampart is used to generally negate damage from Imps more than anything else, and works damned well - especially when you macro in Valor Coronet to extend the length of the effect. Then, when we take the damage, we can just Cure bomb ourselves for some free hate!

Of course, I don't have to stop there, why not buy Merman's Earrings, Lamia Mantle, or get a Resentment Cape? When a nasty spell is being cast, macro 'em in and the Magic Defense bonus from those will help negate some of that damage for you. If you're lucky enough to be the owner of a Shadow Ring, use one of them too. :3

I've just seen an example of a PLD who's too damn lazy to make the most of the abilities and gear choices he has in order to better themselves. Keep to your full Adaman, Koenig, or whatever, stay in your Mog House, and while your Mog keeps spinning, rethink why you're never getting any invites to merit.
Hopefully you're looking at PLD?

1) Getting hit hard = loss of enmity, Guardian reduces that on Sentinel you tard.
2) I bet NINs group 2 are so much better. lolninjistsu
3) I bet Haubergeon +1 is pretty terrible too, since it's <lv60. And PCC is especially crappy too, because it's only in the 30s. Don't look at the level of gear, look at the stats.
4) PLD isn't meant to evade bullets. Hence the larger DEF and VIT.
5) I bet M gear was made specifically for merit parties... There's more to the game than merit parties. Stop whining about abj gear, PLD get N gear, some of the best WS gear in the game. NIN don't get that.
6) Have you noticed a lot of NIN gear lacks DEF? zomg, let's revolt on that too! Evasion style tanks should have more DEF! Brick wall tanks need more eva! Now if you brought up the Physical DMG taken on Arhats Gi +1, then you would have some merit. But you didn't, and I didn't expect any better from you.
7) Refer to #6 for -EVA. Are you seriously whining about INT-3 MND-3? Have you seen the STR, ATK and ACC boosts in Ares? Check your head next time your at the doctors.
8) BLM can equip Kirin's Pole and not Osode! The end of the world! osode is overrated anyway, get over it.
9) Yeah, but if you play PLD right... you'd be surprised. Especially PLD is the only job in the game with an A+ one handed weapon (excluding MNK, if you count MNK anyway). Try using meat next time in merit parties.
10) I got nothing for this, other than you have a butt ton more HP than NIN.
Hopefully you're looking at PLD?

Well yeah, duh. However if i were a NIN i'd be a little upset by it simply because, if i'm not mistaken, NIN is the only job that cannot even minimally merit all of their group 2 abilities/spells.

Obviously you seem to be under the impression that i was demanding A+ eva and parrying. Not the case. Something a little closer to reasonable would suffice.

Funny stuff there. I did mention PLD should do better damage, but i did not mean that the damage should be equal to a DD job, nor was i complaining about PLD DD gear. In fact, the focus had nothing at all to do with PLD being a DD. That is easily accomplished. Alot of gear available to do that. It was pretty clear in my rant that i was talking about PLD as being a tank. Again, fail. Please try again.

Wow what a tard. A decent NIN doesn't need more DEF with as much AGI, EVA, and parrying as they have. Not to mention OMGshadows. As far as PLD eva, i've addressed that already. Let's see how many more times you can fail before this is over.

So basically you're saying it's ok to take away stats from one area as long as they are made up for (and i will admit, very well) in others? Fail. But yeah you just about almost had a good point there.

I got nothing for this, other than refer to #6 kthxplz.

Also, just to have it said before some other non-thinking person says it, it's a bit retarded to remove your def/vit gear for gear that adds eva, or DD abilities. That is not what any of this is about.

I give you credit for the heart you put into this. However, it is clear from your responses you don't really know what you're talking about. But i expect as much from stoners, although your spelling was a bit better than average. Nothing like putting words in someone's mouth and the inability to correctly interpret what was actually said to come up with something that 'appears' to be a valid arguement. You asked why is it necessary to include EVA- and AGI- to DEF gear. My responce was, to essentially balance it out. EVA/AGI gear lacks DEF, DEF gear lacks AGI/EVA. Get that? I hope you do now. Even though you probably don't

You don't need EVA as PLD, any decent PLD can tell you that. Anyone familiar with WS calculations will tell you that focusing on STR is generally better, since it is factored in more than secondary mods. Unless of course, there is a significant difference such as MND+10 vs STR+1, in your case with sword WS.

Ok, I thought the in-game description was clear, even for the most dimwitted person, but apparently not.
The in-game descriptions are as follow:

Sentinel = "Reduces physical damage taken and increases enmity.
Guardian = "Reduces enmity loss while using Sentinel."

Sentinel increases hate, I don't think you can misunderstand that. Guardian reduces enmity loss. Since you're retarded, I'm going to use a super easy example for this. Let's say, when you get smacked for 300 HP by a Ronfaure Rarab, you normally lose 50 "units" of enmity. If you have Guardian merited, and you got smacked by that same Rarab for 300 HP, you only lose 40 "units" of enmity! Like the description says, "Reduces enmity loss while using Sentinel."

Yes, you were. That's the only thing you whine about in this:

You directly implied that buyable gear MUST get better as you level. It does not have to. I gave you examples of this, Haubergeon and PPC. Both of which are great pieces that last well into 75.

Dorren wrote:
PLD's max evasion and parrying skills. They are too low. Raising this would help PLDs be more comparable to NINs. In fact it's probably the single most effective thing you can do for us.
My point was, at least I thought it was, pretty clear. PLDs are not NINs, and NINs are not PLDs. PLD have higher DEF/SHIELD/VIT and abilities that reflect that style of tanking. NIN has higher EVA/PARRY/AGI and abilities for it's style of tanking. They are not the same, and you will never get a mix of both.

Don't talk about PLD needing an update. You have got one, there are several great back pieces for pld, and reduces enmity loss while sentinal is active... Isn't quite the same as the ability itself.
You want PLD to have eva? You can get 20 skill from items... PLD isn't an Eva/Parry tank...if they were..they would be called Ninja...
Koenig/kaiser isn't for merit parties...gj though again.
-eva on pld armor? wow amazing Go wear scorpion harness and see how much +10 eva helps on pld... read what i just said about ... leveling ninja.
-19 on aries ... read above again...
Kirin's Osode isn't a great TP Body, Try again. Thief can't use Byakko's Haidaite.. 15 dex...why's that? There are plenty jobs that can't wear the god armor, Get over it.
PLD can do DD...but if your asking about Koenig in exp... Obviously you can't do it.

Anyways Keep complaining .. because it is pretty funny You should level nin all you really talked about is how nin> pld ...a trend for forums like 2 years ago? if not more.

HAHA! yes it's so wonderful to see the opinions of ppl that aren't experienced
enough to know what they're talking about. Thanks for the smiles.
Anyway, i am a damn good PLD. The reason i kept comparing PLD to NIN is because
a few updates ago, SE was quoted as saying something along the lines of them trying to make PLD more equal to NIN. Obviously this hasn't happened.

I am aware there are many jobs that can't wear certain pieces of armor which would work much better for them than the jobs they were intended for. Did i say PLD was the only job with this problem? No. But since i am a PLD, i addressed PLD. Unlike all the lame flamers who enjoy running their mouths on issues of which they have no experience and probably never thought about until my post excited them.

I also find it interesting how some people can put words in my mouth and misinterpret plain english. It is an amazing world. Have fun.

K serious people other then dorren that are complaining have probly never touch the PLD job so how could you tell weither they need improving or not, I play a PLD on the same server as dorren and i know he is a great tank and i agree to most of the things he says all but a few things.

Quote:
lol... trying to hold hate from DRG? The DRGs that are taking hate are just trying to make you miserable XD
JumpingDragoonEracle no offense but DRG aren't that good of taking hate of a PLD, MNK beat you hands down sorry.

As to most of the stuff RedshiftOnPandy said, I don't agree with your attude but i could care less what your was whining about anyways but this, if you hate taking so much damage, simple either start wearing plate or shut up. I never played a NIN so i can't say much but i know i can hold hate better then they could i have proven it many of times but never did care if they started to complain about it cause i am doing my job in the party. Yes NIN can out damage a PLD ... who cares, we can take hits better then a NIN anyday only things that i seen that makes a NIN good is there shadows other then that ... I dunno, if i see something that might impress me ill be surpised when that happens.

Dorren i agree to most of the stuff you said and your probly right on most of it i just don't really find the +eva would help PLD tanks much, even if they did increase it a bit it just means we are still taking the same amount of damage just moving out of the way alittle more its not really worth it to me. Just let the NIN keep it might as well they never could take a good hit like us PLD could. LOL

Personally i think playing a PLD is one of the easiest job but hey thats me.

Drain II has a duration of one minute? Is this a spell that is cast on a mob and it slowly drains their life? Kind of like Poison? Or is this a buff for the DRK where their hits absorb HP like Blood Weapon?

DRK has been getting some major buffs lately. Congrats guys. ^^

I believe the 1 minute duration is referring to the amount of time that the DRK will be able to keep the HP above their normal maximum HP. For instance, if they were t ocast Drain II while at max HP, there max HP would temporarily be raised by the amount of what was drained or certain percentage of amount drained, for a one minute duration. Won't know exact percentages until it's actually implemented. This will be great for getting that extra spike damage out of a Souleater + WS.

Great update! Thank you again SE.

I think this will help atleast a little with getting people back to the mainland and involved with conquest again...but conquest is still kinda crappy. Most of the gear attainable through conquest is really outdated and...well...it sucks.

I think maybe revamp conquest obtainable items...you gave us a lot of new gear options that we can get through Aht Urgan, but none through the original cities. Plus, Aht Urgan equipment can be used to full effectiveness just about anywhere while lots of Conquest items are limited to conquest only areas.

I have some 200k conquest points with nothing worth buying.

We all know how sanction bonuses work. We ahve to pay to get them. AND WE CAN ONLY GET ONE.

Are we going to have to choose ONE of these when we get signet? Hopefully we get them all, since well these effects are kind of crappy compared to ToAU effects, because if we get only one of them... then SE needs to rethink things.

Hopefully we also don't need to pay for them. they're pretty much aimed at solo, and exp gain solo is far lower than in a party. 100 IS is easy, that's 1k exp, in a party that's maybe 4 fights with the exp bonus. 100 CP however, 1k exp, especially solo.... that could be hours worth of leveling for unlucky people.

Though then a 13 hour signet from rank 10 would be a reason for people to actually go past rank 5.

Pretty nice though. Hopefully every day this week they have something up here with adjustments to all the jobs they've been ignoring.
Another step in the right direction...
# Mar 05 2007 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
lol I don't see why people would complain about the signet aspects of this update since, you know, it potentially benefits everyone in those areas and all, provided they have Signet up.

•Increased healing HP? Sweet! This benefits everyone and, being a galkan MNK, I do get bored waiting for my massive HP to heal up!
•No TP lost while resting? Sweet again, SE! Now we can do something beneficial (if only a little bit) while waiting for the next pull. Quick pull? Yay, faster exp. Slower pull? More time to rest! Plus, as it's been said, this benefits the BLUs, PLDs, and DRKs who at least partly rely on both their MP and TP to perform at their best. And, again speaking from my galkan heritage, this helps certain MP issues we're known to face from time to time, especially at lower levels. >.>
Not only that, but it helps mages and "half-mages" solo a bit easier since they'll be able to get more WSs off without having to worry about MP so much.
•DEF/eva bonuses to the targetted mob for EM and lower? Gives you something to do while seeking (depending where you are) with less chance of killing yourself. More exp and something to do while seeking is always a plus in my book!
•More exp for 2-5 man parties? Helps BSTs, lessens the need for the almighty 6-man party, for those times when you just can't seem to find that last member, and while the bonuses aren't huge (nor should they be), it's still a step up, which isn't anything to complain about.
•Even if these bonuses aren't as great as the ToA ones, it's still an improvement for those parties that can't quite fit in those areas.

As for the DRK spells, I don't mind the idea, really. Although these spells are good, they aren't great to the point of game-breaking. It's just giving them a little more survivability when they pull hate and post-Soul Eeater, which doesn't really make them any better or worse then they were before, offensively. Soul Eater will most likely be used in the same way, just with a bit less of a downside.

but on the plus side lets hope this makes drk less of an mp sink.

ok i may sound like a drk hater but im not. this just gets me so p.o.'d! why doesnt SE cater more to the job that has been rated #1 for 5 strait years!!?? Nothing drastic, how about a party invisible or sneak? or a party erase? thats just my two cents... oh and i dont care what job gets it, but Stop would rule!!!
what about whm??!!!
# Mar 05 2007 at 12:55 PM Rating: Decent
Ok well.. DRK has always struggled with party invites, SE is not trying to pimp out jobs that are already good. They want to make each job just as viable for partys as other jobs. Adding these new spells for drk is a great way to help boost the amount of party invites for them. And as for erasega, divine seal+erase will do that.

A little thought on this. Do you think signet automatically come with all of these bonuses, or will it be more of a sanction style system: Trade XXX Conquest Points and get ONE bonus?

Oh yea, congratulations all you dark knights!
