Just because a job is called Necromancer doesnt mean that they will only be good during the night and control the armies of the undead.... Do you seriously think that SE can't make something else outta the job.. (Anyone who points out PUP will be slapped w/o hesitation...)

As I said in my previous post, some of these jobs are intended to be subbed. They supposedly enhance the abilities of the main job, moreso than the "standard" subjobs that people use now.. SE musta got sick of ppl subbing the same Subjobs over and over again... How many times do you see THF subbing WAR now-a-days, or whatever... It does happen, just not that often.

As for the comment about the level cap being raised to 150, I think that was sarcasm.

I could list what I "hope" they put into the game, but that would be pointless speculation - I'd prefer to wait untill we have more info. The post I made before, to the best of my knowledge, was translated from the JP site. I was simply relaying it to you all. Act on it as you will.

Okay... let me point out one thing...

NECROMANCER WILL NEVER HAPPEN! >_<

I don't understand... all the people who went to FFXI Fan Fest should have reported that SE said they wanted to make a Necro, but couldn't because the mobs only appear at NIGHT! So they made PUP instead. PUP is Necro. Necro will never happen. LET IT GO!
Still skeptical

For all of you posting information about what this new expansion will contain, how about not wasting our time unless you can prove it to us? Telling me that such-and-such job will be in it, or that the level cap will raise to 150 (it will not, shut up) is just bogus, unless you show me exactly where you got your information.

I highly doubt we'll see any new tanking jobs, if there will be any new jobs at all. The reason? SE loves Pld, and so do the Japanese. Consider what they've done to bolster Pld and gimp Nin. You think they'd do all that, only to turn around and introduce a new tank? Not likely. I wouldn't be surprised if they do make some more mage jobs though, that seems fairly likely, considering what they're showing on their new site.

I truly, truly hope we can count on some content for the average person. I'm a 75Rdm with my own linkshell, and we're just a hodgepodge assembly of casual players. I don't even have the time to join any sort of an HNMLS, so anything requiring large groups is completely out of the question for me. How about raising the level cap on NPC's to 75? I'd like to see them finish up or pay more attention to the things they've introduced in the past before they make more content to make people forget about the older content.

As for a new, massively-scaled battle arena or system, sadly, I think that's inevitable. Why sadly? Well, consider what the average Besieged does. You think they're gonna scale back the difficulty of Besieged? Not likely. So when they add more massive-grouping content, who is going to fight in Besieged? You can count on Al Zahbi being overrun almost every time.

I don't mean to sound crabby, I'm actually very happy to see a new expansion pack coming out. I found myself wondering just the other week when we'd see a new expansion. I just hope that the new expansion isn't something impossibly difficult for your average player. End-game content is necessary, but personally, I'd like to see some areas I can go to, too.
The Expansion

The purpose of this expansion is to end the FFXI story. It draws together all of the storylines, and brings them all to one big finale.

No, I'm not one of the "FFXI is dying" crew... But I had the Japanese site read out to me. The screenshots are infact of the time before the Great War. There are going to be several new jobs, and possibly some new avatars too. From what I was told, there will be 6 new jobs:

Necromancer,
Assassin,
Ritualist,
Paragon,
Elementalist,
Dervish.

Forgive me if the translated names are not exact, as I said, this was read out to me over Ventrillo.. =)

The new jobs are... kinda different to what you would expect. Some are intended to be played as sub jobs... I think SE got sick of everyone subbing NIN... so they made sub jobs for the classes who don't really have a defined subjob. Not quite sure how it's going to work yet but... I guess we will see, eh? :P

Anyway, I'll leave you all wondering now -

I played WoW and I said it was boring. I also said I don't want FFXI to be like WoW. I basically mentioned problems, that any one else who played this game would also mention. There are more cons than pro's to this game and which why I don't play it anymore. And for SE to come out with another expansion is cool; but they are like all the other MMO companies who will not work on the issues at hand, and would rather put out new content instead. It's not fun to wait 24 hours, 12 hours, or even ******* 4 hours (even if you aren't competing against all the bots and other players who may have better means of grabbing a NM than you) for a NM to pop and not drop anything, time and time again. It is not fun to wait hours for a party because of the majority of the players are *** and hate us anyway. It is not fun to die and permantly lose experience. It is not fun to start the game as a new person and be called gimp because you don't buy your gear with RMT money. The game is a huge time sink, you need to have hours and hours of time and friends to accomplish mandatory tasks. It is not fun to fight the same type of boring mob for hours and days at a time to gain a level. I played as beastmaster up till 46 i think and I enjoyed the challenge of it. So in that, I'm not WoW fan boy and you can "bite my shiny metal ***".

In my opinion, I think that SE would have to change many things in the game before I come back. I played FFXi for 2 years. Out of that, I hardly seen most of the game. They need to nerf CoP a bit so people can actually make progress (I never got into Tavnazia). They need to make it easier to make gil, so RMT and the chinese farmers can't ruin the economy and turn the game into a full time job. They need to reduce the rediculous pop times on NM's. They need to make NM drops higher than 0.0000000001% They also need to make it so you can do a quest without having to guess on where to go, what to do, and who to talk to. I'm not saying that it should be like WoW (which is boring s hell). I am saying they need to make it so you don't spend 8 hours sitting around waiting for a experience party, or 24 hours waiting for a NM to pop hoping that it will drop the item you need to be useful. I enjoyed many other things about FFXI, the environment and diverse places to visit. I also liked to fish and crafting is one of the best out of many MMO's. However every thing else makes the game like real life, which sux for most of us lol.

Final fantasy will never die
# May 12 2007 at 6:17 PM Rating: Good
guys this is why FF11 will never die.. i dont care about other MMo's really but this is why FF11 rocks. they keep adding new stuff cooler stuff, new jobs and interesting ways to do those jobs .. they try to keep the player around by improving and creating new ways to go about things... and try to get back those who have left the game by instituting new things.... even if they dont do time mage .. which i think they will .. with almost every expansion thus far.. they have added a new job... or a couple new jobs.. why should this be any different..
so wtg SE imo...

wow, at first i am thinking FFXI will be retired soon. Same as other, I don't expect an new expension will be released and have already been at work. /Surprise!

---> I think adding new jobs is not important. It is more important to have a way to better utilize our jobs. Fighting side by side with each other in great war seems fun. But I really hope SE had found some tricks to allow squeezing more than 700s people in one zone. Besidged is fun..but it does not satisfy our needs. I want to see the whole screen fit with players and fighting crazy. I don't want fighting with some 'invisible' (because hardware can't load all the characters on screen) players. Grrr.. my writing sucks.. hope u know what I mean.

IDEA 1----> Hm...warping back to historial time is good. It allows SE to relate to stories and have reason to open up new areas. However, the most I desire is fighting in deep water or underworld...like in FF4. In FF4, you can go to sky, ocean, underworld, MOON, and Even Inside a robertic doll!

IDEA 2----> Oh ya,,taking about robertic. I think is cool to add a city and monsters with robertic design. Remember in FF6 .. people use machines because magic was forbidden. In short, I want FFXI to provide different feeling to players...not only medival period like background. If I can go inside a high tech tower and fight some cool-design monsters will be HELLA NICE!

IDEA 3 ---> MUSIC gotta add more elements! Music is a very important part of the game. If SE can add some hard rock style background music ..like the FF7 boss music ..it will be fun. Everytime I listen to that music give me chicken skin and made my excited. Indeed, I think music is part of the reason that seperate FF7 from others. It music is so kickass! COME ON! PLEASE CONSIDER THIS! I can gurantee the whole FFXI expereience will be changed!

Thank you for reading!!

And now for some theories. Assuming the images after the fuzzy glitch thing are the zones as they looked during the great war, why is there a comet in the background of each picture? My guess is that comet is how we will be able to reach said 'time zones' Picture a lobby like zone, such as the entrance lobbies inside each of the crags before entering a Promyvion, except they connect to multiple zones. But I think (or maybe hope is a better word) that the different 'time zones' would be locked and accessed through completion of initial zones. Perhaps you would have to clear a mission in 'Old Sarutabaruta' before gaining access to 'Old Sauromugue Champaign'. Personally, I'm hoping for a more structured mission type expansion with major story, like CoP, but without the uber high difficulty.

Also, perhaps there will be beseiged-like battles in the historic versions of the home nations. I know I'd enjoy defending Windurst from the Yagudo and seeing the 'forbidden magic' being unleashed by karaha-baruha. ^.^

I went on the POL site this morning hoping for news about the June update, and at first glance I was like

"Pfft, this has nothing to do with the June update! ><"

Than I took a closer look and I almost fell over my chair.

Interesting thing is, I'v noticed whenever they've been asked about another expansion after TOAU, they get all weesly and aviod the subject and just say 'as long as people play the game we'll make content'.

I always thought they avoided the question because they had no plan for a future axpansion, not because they were about to announce one :)

I guess, I'll never stop playing this :\

Judging by the name we might get to learn something about Altana from this new expansion too I hope.
Crystal War
# May 12 2007 at 12:28 PM Rating: Decent
It seems fairly obvious that it's showing flashbacks to the Crystal War, it shows Batallia, Sauro, Saruta and one area I can't really identify with fortifications for war. Either that or a new war is brewing and it's going to change pre-existing zones? ( I seriously doubt that) I've always had the idea that they should add more Dynamis-Esque areas where instead of being in the city it takes you back just before the city is taken over and you can walk around the town etc and then go out and defend the starting areas along with the army against a beastmen invasion. I guess maybe that's what they're going for here? Though it seems to be on a much larger scale, it seems like it will be interesting either way. I just hope these zones are not all rehashes and we get some totally new areas as well. I was more looking forward to them opening the far east so they could maybe get to the west before they stop making expansions but oh well guess that won't happen XD Here's hoping for the best. Also, I do not see new jobs being added, It goes Job/System update/ many area expansion > Story/Content/Expand on existing area > Recycle, ToAU was Job/System/Many area so this will likely be Story/Content/Expand. Hopefully we get one more after this at least, I want to see the far east.

Come on, Squenix, let us play as Beastmen! That'd be a lot of fun. Then, they could introduce a real PvP realm instead of a scheduled PvP event like Ballista. Plus, it would just be fun chasing after low level players and making them think you are just one of the "mobs".

GUNBLADES, ive been wanting gunblades in the game since they announced CoP.

i still believe this game has atleast 3 more years on it. and SE might squeeze out 1 more expansion before then. perhaps also, a ps3 version?? i have the ps2 version on the ps3, and all it did was make it look slighty better.

and to go way out on a limb.... ancient armor/weapons???
This better be good.
