Oak Shield  

There is now a vendor that sells oak shields among a few others in Aht Urhgan Whitegate. His name is Saluhwa at H-6. Oak Shield was selling for 15,600 gil.

this is crazy.. i lost lot of money from making them to the guild.. 50k for iron sheet for one stack in my sever...then 5680g for 1 oak lumber from the woodguild. i broke more than 8 lumbers for just making 3 shield T-T.

i think the smithing affect my craft alot.

I just made 12 synths of this, and had only 2 fails. I had constant .2 skillups, i started synthing them at Wood 69 Smith 3 ended with Smith lvl 5.

If i had to guess i would say its caped at 9 or 10 maybe even a little under that.

I back up Enkiduu's findings

I was able to synth one of these with Wood 60 Smithing 17

So there is an absolute max of 27 on that smithing cap. Probably lower.
