Well, first time I tried to get Coffer Key, I went with a BLM and did the ol' nuke and sleep routine. For about two hours nothing dropped >.> . Anyways, gave up, said goodbye and thanks to BLM for the help and took a huge break from trying to get it. About two months later, I try again with the help of a NIN and WHM. The key just dropped like crazy. Under ten minutes, 2 drops. I thank them and decide to hunt the Treasure Coffer on my own since it's simple. It took me two nights but I got the Old Gauntlets.

Now, for Dark Spark. Too easy, got help from a 75war/nin and 56war/nin (he needed his gloves too). Gave them Minuet + March and I sit out the battle. Battle was over without a Explosion {whew!}.

I got my gloves and I'm happy. Finally got my full AF for brd.

Ok so we take up camp where the Ahriman wanders that corridor near the coffers. We fight one Ahriman, no drop /cry, then we pull a Demon, and lo and behold, we get the Key, now for the funny part. Within about 5 seconds of the Demon hittin the floor, the Coffer spawned about 3 feet away from him!!!! I mean come on, is that the SE gods being kind? Is that me being the sexiest taru? I think its called extreme luck and would like to apply for fastest coffer/key hunt ever award and I think I deserved this break cause gettin my Summoner AF Body took over a week of Coffer hunting /cry

Anyways this is actually quite a nice AF piece which is odd for bard AF!

Um, you wanna look things up on your own? That would be helpful, instead of berating people for posting their experiences.

He said the Ahrimans spawn in tunnels near the coffers. Look up where the coffers spawn, and you'll see tunnels there. One Ahriman pops in each. If the Ahriman doesn't drop the key, kill the demons in the rooms nearby, they drop keys as well.

www.ffxi-atlas.com is your friend. If I weren't in such a bad mood, I'd tell you to jump off the NW side of the NW hole in the main part of the castle and make sure you land on the ledge. And I'm definitely not going to tell you to make sure Sneak is up because an Ahriman sits right there. No way.

Seriously, if you've got a question, ask it. Don't belittle others. You'll find that most people are more than willing to provide you with the information you require.

I disagree that people are willing to provide information that you require. (*Remebers /shout'ing in Jeuno* *Remember's politely asking fellow party members who have their AF* *Remember's asking to go along with a group of folks who were doing Gate Breach in Garlaige Citadel and being LEFT BEHIND so there wouldn't be competition*) Honestly, I don't think many people are so inclined to help.

I agree with the other person, to be honest. Posting your own experiences are great and all; giving yourself a pat on the back isn't harmful. And I agree he could've been a bit more moral-of-the-story instead of being bitter to the OP, but I personally think that along with being cheery with himself, he should've done what you did (albeit, also bitterly) and put links, made <pos> comments. Disect information.

I did my research on six different sites (including Atlas, killing Ifrit, treasure maps, and of course this one), talked to at least seven different people (not including full LS's), shouted in Jeuno, and in the Castle itself just to find out which pond was it exactly for the PLD AF2 fish. "The one with the oozes." No ****. FF atlas doesn't exactly say 'oozes'. I wasn't going to go back to Jeuno just to sub ranger when I had PLD's roaming around the castle already who claimed to know where it was (but were far to busy to actually show us; which I can understand, to be honest- I personally think it's as bad as the Jungles). I thank God for Chronokid who stuck with me the whole time and didn't explode with impatience. Back to the point- What did I find when I looked through the various threads for Odontotyrannus, the Gallant Leggings, the quest thread itself, and even the giant shell bug threads?

"I solo'd this! I'm so good!" Not all were that bad, but it was extremely frustrating to see several accounts of how they personally kick ***, without any real data, except ambiguous stuff that often counteracts what other people have said.

In short: If you want to give a yippy, that's more than welcome. There are 'Ding' threads for a reason in the various job forums. But it'd be much more helpful if folks could post a tip now and then on things not already said. Rant done.
Weird.

Why does it seem like this is the only BRD AF that was *really* made with BRD's strengths in mind? All of the others add useful (but seemingly random) stats like MND, STR, parrying skill, etc. Ah well. Only 5 more levels until I can wear these. :D

I don't think AF was made in mind of increasing the jobs stregnths, but increasing the job all-around.

Well, mind you we're not ALWAYS in parties, so extra evasion or parrying or strength DOES help from time to time. MND is very useful if you're subbed anything that can cast a Cure spell. And enmity is nice to use with my Minstrel's Ring, since I can hit the incoming mob with an Elegy, get it to whack me once to lower my HP to "latent effect" levels, and with all the -enmity nobody will have any problems immediately pulling it off me. I wouldn't discount anything on our AF as "useless".

Point.. Counterpoint.

If a job was more party-centric than Bard, I missed it. I can definitely see wearing some of the AF soloing.. But. Meh. What good is complaining about something that isn't gonna change. Deal folks!

Bards can be pretty accomplished soloers (they're not red mage, or what have you). I know some bards that have been able to solo DC mobs well into their 60s without trouble.

Of course...all of their abilities are pretty much group-oriented.
