So my buddy is on my character (75RDM/NIN at the time and a friend's 75 whm trying to farm up a coffer key and a Bomb Queen pop set when TT spawns. He calls me up and tells me to log in as me and we are going to trio this bad boy with a 69 BST.
When I get in there the poor BST is doing his best to throw an army of other scorpions/raptors from the area at the NM to keep claim while this little JP Taru NIN/WHM waits in hope of claiming the NM.
I buff up and jump into the fray keeping the NM claimed and keeping damage up in between BST pets. My buddy is doing his best at keep us alive.
Problem 1: Between me and the pets we are feeding this ******* WAY too much tp and it always went like this. NM fights pet, NM fights pet, NM fights pet, NM uses AoE ws, starts casting ichi, NM punches Hyabusa in the face <.<;
Problem 2: BST head out to get a new pet and aggros a goblin. He sics his pet on the Goblin and logs out to erase hat rather than playing the whole fight out.
Now im all alone which wasn't so bad but we're running low on MP as I'm focusing on keeping hate and staying alive and of course...not refreshing the WHM >.<; *RDM 101* lol.
We get this NM down to about 25% when he uses his AeO move to remove my shadows and hits me with Death Scissors for the most damage I've ever been hit with: 3380. Needless to say I'm dead faster than a John Tesh R&B album and my buddy is swiftly killed afterwards.
The NM goes unclaimed and regens to full. Then the little Taru NIN/WHM (aparently afk) springs into action and actually solo's this thing.
Which leads me to the point I had when I began typing this Stephen King sized Post.
The taru was nice enough to invite us and letme have the axe if I wanted it. No V Claw which mad him sad but I got the Lohar as my trophy.
I guess when my DRK gets high enough level I'll deal out some Rampage's with it but until then it sits in storage.
I was wondering if this thing had ANY hidden effect at all? I want to drop it but I know the day I do someone will post "So I was using my Lohar and it turned an exp mob into a {Cursed Dalmatica -2} but I'm a WAR/DRG so I dropped it...dumb mage gear LOLWTFBBQorz"
Anywho thanks for reading the tale of Hyabusa and the Lohar axe...I'm gonna go eat some Easy Mac now.
people seem to wonder what the +5 chr on this axe is for. i just got it today and i rather like it in conjunction with beast trousers. im pretty sure the whole point of it is for when you take hate off your pet, you are more likely to intimidate the mob, as your intimidation rate is affected by your chr.
Darkness elemtent resistance is better than any chr+ you can get. the only CHR i have is from the Beast Whistle, and sometimes food. being Elvaan with a white mage sub gives me more than enough natural CHR that i don't need to get every piece of CHR + gear. i even sold my CHR+ rings.
CHR argument aside, the axe dosnt look bad. not at all.

I realize this post is a few months old, but it's at the top of thread and I want to clear this up: Darkness resistence has nothing to do with your Charm rate. This is a common misconception because the Light Staff has +15 Darkness resistence. The Light Staff not only has +10% Cure Potency, but it adds 10% to light-light based abilities. Charm is a light-based ability.
As far as the Lohar is concerned, unless there's some hidden effect that i don't know about, it's a nice axe for a trophy and that's about it. While the damage is nice but not spectacular, the delay is horrid. I'll use my Lv60 Tungi before I used this Pick. But, by the time a BST can use this weapon, they'll be using the Light Staff for charming so the +5CHR isn't really going to matter much anyway. The Lv68 Acha d'Armas is a much better axe and it's easier to get because the mob can be easily solo'd by a BST. The at Lv71, the Tabarzin is a very good axe as well and it's not overly expensive compared to the Woodville at Lv72.
I've also played an Elvaan BST and I played him to Lv71 before I quit FFXI. While you don't need +CHR out the wahzoo for any race, you still want to maintain about +18 to +21 CHR in the later levels even as Elvaan. Your natural CHR isn't going to cut it. The more CHR you have, the less effective it's going to be because you'll never reduce your fail rate to 0%. The more you have, CHR you have, the harder it is to reduce your fail rate.
This Axe is often overlooked for Warriors because of the CHR+5.
When in actuality this is "The" top axe for Warrior at this level(69). Top Axe being the axe with the most damage on it(47).
Having This weapon as main hand Weapon will really help in keeping rampages and/or Mistral Axe Ws's at good damage levels.
Next highest Axes are Acha d'Armas(46), Nadziak(46), and Nadziak+1(47).
Nadziak+1 are expensive and quite rare. Thus this weapon would make a great main hand weapon for a dual wielding warrior. Not to mention an inexpensive one.
ummm, you do know that an axe is the choice primary weapon of most bst's right? albeit, the stats on it are not the greatest, but they are still fair, it also means that they dont typically have to macro off a different weapon to charm, so they wont lose all their TP in the process, which makes this a very usable weapon
It's pretty cool if you want to go with one solo weapon, but instead it would be better to just use a Monster Signa for charm then macro an Axe for melee, and just keep with that. Some bst's have 2 sets of armor because they have a melee set and a Chr set...Most only settle for the chr gear, but thats how they choose to carry out their job.
