Ranged attacks
# Apr 08 2009 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
Ok so has anyone parsed it out to see if the crit rate+ applies to ratk? Because I am thinking of grabbing one of these for my Cor and using it when I have a thf in my party with rogue's roll. On a V that is a ~33% crit rate+ add any other eq that adds to your crit rate and things start to get pretty rediculous. However if this doesn't work on ratk then it is pointless and without my racc from other weapons I probably won't hit and then my crit rate will be zero.

even if the crits do effect ratk, ranged crits are fail compared to melee crits (1.25 - 2.0) so get a fire staff itll help more

Wow Chrystina, for a 75blm,rng,brd and nin u sure don't know what ur talking about when it comes to the staves... useless.. I think not, cast any thunderspell with a thunder staff then again w/o it, you will notice a signifigant difference. Then tell me they are "useless"

Your post makes no sense... Chrystina called the elemental staves a "Staple" for any mage job. That means that Chrystina thinks they are not useless. In fact she basically said they are neccesary. Im not sure what you thought staple meant.

I've heard a lot of rumors on the internets, and was just wondering if anyone can confirm whether the +15% chance to crit affects ranged attacks as well as melee attacks.

cause they really are pretty useless in parties. they are nice for soloing. If you're one of the jobs it makes sense to be using staff in parties, then you'd do better to use one of the other elemental staves. Their only use really is soloing. I am using it to raise my stff skill and am in love with it.

Useless in EXP parties? Ask the poor BLM why he's got one (and all those others).

and these arent useless in an exp party, not to a ranger anyway and before anyone is like wtf is he talking about think about it for alittle..... ok now then think about the ranger job it almost never gets close enough to melee anyway so y not equipt this staff you would be getting a +15% rate on critical hits so i think a rng could find this very useful in an xp pt thank you

No these aren't cheap because they're usless >< elemental staves are staples for any mage job. These are cheap because crafters make them trying for the HQ. The profit in staves synthesis comes from the HQ. Where this one is cheap, the jupiter is 2.3mil on my server. They can afford to sell the NQ cheaply to get rid of them because they make a lot of profit from the HQ.

I think the term may be astramaniac. Someone who's obsessed with lightning. I know my editor is.
